Man, I just want them to try making a JRPG with grown up characters, intelligent writing, and good pacing. I don't want them to straight up imitate E33 or be "not anime". There's so much more they can do besides just shounen. I grew up with stuff like Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Vampire Hunter D, Ninja Scroll, Record of Lodoss War, etc.
2001: "lets make a JRPG about late 1800s alternate history with Lovecraftian horror elements"
2026: "no, don't stray from the formula! We can only do shounen melodrama, surely our core audience of 30- and 40-somethings would never accept anything else"
