Stellar Blade 2 | Summer Game Fest Trailer

lol the resetera topic got so many reports that they locked it. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

On the subject of girl: her face does look too young in at least one still, sorry but it's true. But then she looks weirdly older in other pictures. This game is still years away though so I'm sure the final product will be different. Not of a fan of the tomboy look either way.

This is what Eve looked like on her first reveal:

I've just had a quick glance at the thread on there and I'd like to go on record that I retract my earlier comments and I shall henceforth wank myself silly over the main character when the gane is released.

Earliest 2028. Latest 2030 release. We already have a look at gameplay so it's pretty far along.

If it's a 2030 release it'll come out at the right time for a PC upgrade.

And besides SB is incredibly optimized and plays butter smooth on a lot of specs so I'm not worried.

Between Crimson Desert and Stellar Blade I'm impressed by how well the games run.

LOL you cant have a body tight suit and arse cheeks clapping about when her face looks like shes barely 12. Hope they quickly show that this is in fact a model that is very young looking for her actual age cos bro...

Honestly I think the polemic about the main character is overblown.. of course she look extremely young, with a adult body and a skinsuit, but it is like a shitton of manga/japanese games and of course gachas. I don't see in other places so much outcry when they announce games like that. And of course the game looks incredible.

For the record, I like variety, and I find the discussion online is brutal polarized: I liked a lot the trailer of the new God Of War, I loved Faye, and the same with the new Stellar Blade. Both are different, but I like both as I said. Then I read they compare Faye, which I find an amazing character, like an amazon warrior with realistic art style, with Gollum -_-. And then in other places when you like the main character of the new SB you are a pedo. It is simply tiring.

Anyway sorry about the rant, the game looks amazing and I loved Stellar Blade, so day one.

I took a quick look at that thread out of morbid curiosity and, unsurprisingly, it was exactly what you'd expect:
"Pedo this," "pedo that," "coomers," and the usual assortment of accusations.

At some point, when all you can see in other people is depravity and malice, it's worth considering whether the issue lies with everyone else or with the lens through which you're viewing the world.

What's even more concerning is that a number of users here have started adopting that same hyper-vigilant, moral-crusader mindset - the constant pearl-clutching, empty accusations and self-righteous lecturing are making this place feel increasingly like "the other one."
Thank God for the moderation team but, it's still concerning...

I've said it before in another thread: if someone genuinely dislikes this community and its users that much, they're free to log off and find a space that's a better fit for their sensitivities.
If you find yourself convinced that everyone around you is a racist, a homophobe, a MAGA extremist and a pedophile - with yourself conveniently standing as the lone enlightened exception - then perhaps it's time for a bit of introspection.
...and maybe it's also time to find a community that aligns better with your "worldview".

This is way better than expected but she looks too young in some of those shots.
Yeh, looks a little weird, body of a 20 something, face of a 13-15 year old. But to be fair, a lot of Asian girls can look younger than they actually are up to a certain age. Still, I would definitely prefer if they made her older looking like Eve in the first game especially because we know how Nikke love to sexualise their characters (heck, we can see that in some shots posted here)

Guys, I think we are praising Stellar Blade 2 too much.

First we need to see Evie in some short dresses, and skirts, paired with stockings, or thighhighs, with zettai ryouiki!

It always funny to see users that defend that ugly ass face design from Faye in GoW : Laufey to come here to criticize Evie's look.

Trailer looks epic and the first Stellar Blades is one of the best new IPs in years.... count me in. But... my game protagonist and hers are very similar, striking ass, dressed in white, short hair...

peak peak peak

So, was that real gameplay? Because Goeff said it was early in development. If yes, the graphics have markedly improved, but I don't think any of this was real footage.
Surely real, just polished slice for reveal. Early dev can also mean they have another ton of content to bring up to that level
This was shown september 2021 and its basically what you got and more in 2024 when it launched

I respect Shift Up for having the balls to change the protagonist.

It shows that they're confident that the game's other strengths will carry it, and that they don't need Eve to sell copies of their sequel.

The graphical jump in this game compared the first is impressive.

I played the fuck out lf the first game. This is a day one purchase for me.

Embarrassing post. Seriously, fuck off to REEE, where you will feel at home.

Anyone who has issues with this game's character design and didn't have any issues with this:

Basically this. The hypocrisy of these people has no limits.

I'm pretty confident they're going to age up her face. Maybe not by a lot, but just enough where she can pass for an adult. Dude there's no way they're going to keep her as is, I'm sure they're seeing the complaints. Shift Up were pretty receptive to feedback when the first game released.

It helps them to try new things too. It's probably important to always have a female protagonist (and I believe they know this), but I'm honestly okay with them changing it up. Sure; I'll miss playing as Eve, but if giving me a new character means new fast paced gameplay then I'm 100% down.

I felt like that was the only way forward, unless they depowered Eve.

Plus it's easier to design new outfits for the next game, if you have a new protagonist to work with.

Those people are sick. They wouldn't bat an eye if that had been a scantily dressed "twink", then they'd have been jubilant at seeing a game with a hypersexualized gay character. "Take that, mouth breathing cellar dwellars!" They applaud deviancy and abhor normalcy.

Unfortunately there are people who cry about Yuffie and I hope they all get ass cancer to mirror their status as a societal cancer.

Day 1.
Asias' ability to create badass feminine characters is such breath of fresh fucking air.
This petite brawler type looks so cool.
The contrast between those two axioms supercharges everything she does on screen.
Her walking through the crowd at the beginning, being smaller than most people she passes. We then get to see her demolish enemies with haymakers.
Beautiful stuff.

Yep, and we could have a list without end of anime games with female characters with a "child like" face (from westerners standards) and brutal exuberant bodies. And no one bat an eye..

Im banned on REEeeeeeEEE why you upset about my opinion? touch a nerve? game looks sick though will definitely be getting it. Looks a bit more fluid than the first one.

I'm usually one of the first people to defend sexy ass women in games, and I bought Stellar Blade twice cause I loved it so much. Blood Rain is going to be a Day 1 buy for me, so ultimately I personally don't give a shit. That said, I mean it is hard to argue that Evie absolutely look like a kid. There are certain angles where she looks a bit older, but in a lot of shots that is 100% a minor. I'm happy to tell the usual suspects who bitch about the objectification of women in games to fuck right off, but with this I can absolutely understand why some people are put off by it.

A balanced and adult response wow, incredible.
But yeah essentially what you are saying, I am not personally outraged by it and ready to die on this hill as like you I actually prefer the more attractive characters but yeah, she looks very young, at first I thought it was a straight up kid and this would be a prequel or your playing as Eves daughter (makes no sense) but something like that. But then the cheeks and everything lol I laughed when I saw it.

Their hypocrisy is staggering. Doing such accusations, while demanding that grown men in drag are to be allowed in women's restrooms and gyms showers, where there are underaged girls.

Im sorry, but no, and watch out for these reductions. IMHO, Evie's face is TOO YOUNG for her body (and for her voice, by they way). Yuffie face (and general behavior) is adequade for her body. Evie needs to be 5 or 6 years older. Heavens, i showed her (evie) to my mother (she is a huge Eve's fan) and she automatically asked why Evie is 10 years old :-D

So, was that real gameplay? Because Goeff said it was early in development. If yes, the graphics have markedly improved, but I don't think any of this was real footage.
According to this article they held a 20 minute private demo for journalists that had someone playing and it was the exact same content with the full UI, so apparently it was actual gameplay on PC, like they highlighted in the trailer.

The combat looks great. I genuinely thought it was Itsuno's new game during the showcase. But, brothers, she looks like a minor, and there's no denying that.

The opening shots of the city were like something lifted from Moebius, who used to be featured in Heavy Metal comic. Graphically I don't think I've ever seen better!
wkZLsvcUOj7mrhBh.jpg

The [English] voice doesn't match the face at all - the disparity was distracting watching the trailer. The melee combat looks both flashy and impactful, though!

At this point, "she looks like a child" has become more of an assertion than an argument.

She's clearly presented as an adult character by the developers (do you think a multi-million company would use a "child" for a mainstream game?) and nothing about the game's marketing, story, or presentation suggests otherwise. If the only evidence is that she's petite, has a youthful face, or X type of hair, then you're not identifying a child - you're projecting your own subjective age standards onto a fictional character.

Simply repeating "she looks like a child" doesn't make it true. It just means you've decided that any adult woman who doesn't conform to your idea of what an adult should look like must be a child.

Now, after the storm of backlash they're currently facing (mainly from Western audiences, obviously), some changes will likely follow. Personally, I don't mind or care either way - It's the same with the new God of War Faye character, I don't care whether people call it feminist propaganda, claim she was "uglified" on purpose, or argue she's attractive or not. It all feels like noise to me.

The ONLY real issue I have with these discussions is the constant pearl-clutching, moralizing, projection and lecturing. People getting hostile over opinions, acting like they're scoring moral points online and turning every disagreement into a personal attack.
I mean, shit, yesterday alone, we had someone openly accusing another user of being a pedophile - that kind of escalation shouldn't feel normal, yet here we are.

It really does feel like things are getting increasingly combative, with people quick to throw baseless and ugly accusations at each other. That's not just exhausting, it's worrying.

We don't have to agree on everything but this level of hostility isn't healthy for anyone.

Also : "evil is what evil does" - when minds are warped by constant online drama and hyper-fixation on culture wars you start seeing malice everywhere...

Been in development for a year according to the article

Good article. Important points are

-1 year of development thus far
-Want to get the game out to as many as possible(multiple platforms)
-Wants to make the game playable with lower end specs(current) in mind
-Significant increase in outfits over first game
-Asked about a 2027 release window but they feel it needs more time so 2028/2029 release IMO
-Isn't called Stellar Blade 2 as it's a continuation but also a standalone story featuring a new protagonist
-Did not want to reuse the Sword(it would be boring) and opted for Melee focus with Fists/Armblade. They implied other weapons are in the game so likely ranged component is returning in some form
-Wants to make a fun game instead of a game about selling a message

You can slowly read it yourself through google translate. Lots of good things.

Edit: Two more things. They were asked about their decision about opting to self-publishing and they said that SIE excels at certain things but there are certain things that SIE as a publisher is unable to do. What this means to me is that as a self-publisher ShiftUp won't be bound by any restrictions or rules and make the game they want to make uninhibited. In other words no censorship and no restrictions on what kind of story they want to tell. And no need to worry about checking off boxes under a publishers checklist of things a game has to have.

Regarding Staff. A majority of the staff that worked on and developed Stellar Blade has been and will be developing Blood Rain. Which is great.

Stellar Blade was a fun flawed game and im glad Shift Up told sony to fuck off with their censoring ways and decided to make the game fully by themselves now

No amount of gas lighting is going to convince me that this is a grown ass lady. If someone wants to tell themselves the intent is that she's a fully matured woman, or that she's actually a 1,000 year old cyborg, just so they don't feel weird about jerking off to her, then have a blast. But I know what a young teenage girl looks like. Everyone does. I don't care what amount of makeup and plastic surgery K-Pop stars put themselves through either too look super young. This is a minor-burger right here bro. I do agree that they will likely age her up a bit as development continues, I don't think they want to sabotage themselves out of potential sales from the West. But this is a "don't piss on my head and tell me it's raining" moment.

I am feeling the same thing. This is coming from someone who liked the 1st game.
That just means you haven't seen enough Asians. Certain bones on the face keeps growing after other parts of the face have stopped, and their growth shows old age for all races. Caucasian women tend to have those same areas more pronounced earlier in life, which makes them appear more mature as teenagers, but ages them into crones very quickly compared to Asians in particular. If you never had a pronounced nose or long chin as an Asian, it takes more time for those parts to grow to the point as to reach that of a Caucasian woman.

You can feel all you like. But you are wrong. Another thing that happens is that Western media tend to use adults to play teenager roles, which means you rarely see REAL teenagers on TV or movies. So what you think looks like a teen is actually a grown ass woman pretending to be a teen.

And i will go there. If you think this is a problem, maybe it is because of literal racism.
