Gothic Remake |OT| Return to the Colony

Watching a stream atm, VA is decent, graphics are alright, old school game honorably remade it seems, plus journalists aren't fond of it, what's to hate? Will try it out for sure, since OG was quite janky for me.
 
Already tried it, but I didnt like its combat!
You might like the sequel then, combat is a bit more fluid. It gets better in the first game too as your character "learns". I was quite the murder machine except for a few spots (with gangs).

The second game seems easier overall, which I don't think I like but it makes sense.
 
DLSS Framegen it this game looks like if you would try to use it from base of 10fps in other games, maybe even worse, lol. Some bug, its like game is trying to do framegen without loading ai models to do the job.
 
never played the original and after 1 hour I am hooked. Interesting, weird and not your typical Sony slop

Yes this seems good. Looks and runs really good.. 5080 though
 
Do Monsters respawn or not? After going with Mordrag to the new Camp he killed a lot of monsters and 3 Bloodflys and some Scavengers directly in front of the new camp. After spending some time there, i got back and the three bloodflys and Scavengers where there again.
 
Impressions boys? Not dropping bucks without how this handles on pc.

I don't doubt it's fun to play.

Why did Mortal Shell 2 demo have to come on the same day? lol, guess I'll check that out first since it should be short.
 
The bad scores seem to be console performance and journos that don't have the patience to build yourself up.

I hope I have the patience. We'll see. Too much NPC talking in the first base imo. I went around in circles talking to people and progressing none at all basically. But the quest log is filled up ready to go when the kids are asleep
 
Well I played for 2 hours and got basically no where in the game. Ha!


Me too, still trying to kill a mole rat to get my first sword. Never died to a rat so much. Maybe hard mode with no automatic combos(using the mode where I have to unlock them) wasn't the play.


Edit: got him. The trick is to NOT lock on since I have no dodge yet. Just run around him until he attacks and turn back and hit him. Rinse and repeat. If he goes under ground run like your in a tremors movie and get back on the bridge lol

Edit2: I should probably look at the controls. RB dodges..

This is a good time. Nice to have a deep RPG to get into. After playing the Mortal Shell demo I'm reminded of how hollow a game like that is in comparison. Also this is beautiful. I was just playing Fatekeeper and this is just as pretty just in 3rd person and it runs well on my system.
 
30 fps on Pro and not Pro enhanced? Fuck this shit.

What a joke. I bought it yesterday so id have Classic with intention of waiting for reviews today. If they had a 60 fps option id keep it.

Well im not keeping it now you dumb fuck developers.
 
30fps is bad enough, but man, you cannot even go more than 10 minutes before having to close and restart the game on the PS5 due to the audio completely cutting out. These devs are a whole new level of complete incompetence
 
In OG monsters respawned somewhat after chapter progress. So kinda, but not really. They do not respawn infinitely. I assume it is the same here, the progression is one of defining features of Gothic.
Thanks for the answer, but i know all that as i played all the gothic games multiple times, but it was strange to see respawning monsters as i didn't trigger a new act. Hopefully there is a minor respawning in the remake for all weaker monsters.
I will further test it today. Maybe some Monsters respawn every few ingame days?
 
Seems to crash about once every hour on console, pretty cool. You'd think that would have been pretty easy to catch in QA unless they didn't bother to test for more than 30 minutes straight.

Yeah, I hope you guys get a patch. I'm having a blast. So many things happened but I can't say what cause they are spoilers. If you don't care about some, watch Quins sponsored playthrough from last night for a laugh. Hahaha, when games used to be hard hard. On hard the one shots are numerous and hilarious.
 
I hoe they announce a patch with 60 fps mode for ps5 pro fast. That will be the only way to save this on console.
If it was going to be 60, I feel it would have been at launch already. We'll see, but even if they want to start working on that, they'll be too busy for a while sorting out the crashing and various other issues so I wouldn't hold my breath. I'm personally happy it's a rock solid 30 with zero stuttering on UE5 (Other than autosaves) so I can live with that if it at least stops crashing.

Found myself a new cool bug. Game randomly starts running at 5 seconds a frame and stays like that until you restart, literally powerpoint territory. I wonder what else there is to discover!

So i played a couple hours on my Xbox Ally X. Nothing other than the opening movie stuttering like a bitch. Hopefully that's the extent of my issues....

Disagree, fatekeeper has better assets and it is more even because it's a small ass game.

But for an AA open world it look pretty great at times.

Usually xmp profiles are pretty safe because they are pre-coded by the people who made the ram, it's a safe option for people who dont wanna try to do overclock manually and go even higher and risk more.

I mean they literally sell my ram for 6000mhz, not 4800.

From my understanding, ue5 is just very sensible to any type of ram overclock or my ram are starting to die so they can't keep up even with the "safe" overclock.

Was your voltage set up correctly for the xmp? My last MSI mobo kept the base 1.2v in auto mode with the xmp turned on which needed 1.35v, but it didnt get stable until 1.375v.
It completely died after 4 years, i hope that doesnt happen to you.

I got it on my PS5 Pro, while there is no pro patch it does not run at a steady 30 most of the time with the day 1 patch.

I dont know if the regular PS5 is worse, but it cant he better. Its one of the worst preforming games I've played since cyberpunk on PS4.

Didn't the demo of this have a performance and quality mode? It was bugged in the demo though. But the full game doesn't offer performance at 60fps on console?

No idea, i just chose all the parts, other people built my pc.

Couple of hours ago I just set everything on auto so now it's at 4800, the super-safe frequency.

I doubt i lose that much performances going from 6000 to 4800 and in theory it should be more stable.

Opinions from people who played the OG Gothic 1? Performance aside, how different is it? Is it dumbed down or does it maintain the same design philosophy as the original?

It's extremely close. The philosohpy is the same and the content slightly expanded, when it works that is.
