Elden Ring Tarnished Edition gameplay (Switch 2)

Two PoV:

- Yes, it's VERY cool that one of the msot famous games of the last years can be really played ina Nintendo System, and ina portal way...
- For Chirst sake, it's not possible that S2 limitations are already being shown and FROM cannotm in name of God, create something minimally optimized!

The game runs like shit even on PS5 and PC… Fromsoft have some serious issues historically when it comes to optimization.

Looks like they are taking the unlocked fps path, i just hope for a 30fps option. But is Fromsoft… I am expecting the worse worst.

there's no 30fps lock in the other versions so I doubt it will have one here either, and you also wouldn't want one given their vsync has always had uneven frame pacing, which means you get stutter either way, so might as well just run unlocked. especially if they manage to properly support Gsync in handheld mode (doubtful but who knows)

That looks........poor.

First few seconds of the video are at 5fps.

I know they had to delay it, but it looks like they still struggled.

I don't get it. This was originally a PS4 game. What is the issue with porting this to a console that can clealry handle it?

FROM should not be allowed to optimize their own games

Some of you guys are being retarded. Take the joy cons off the Switch 2 and look at its size, now look at your PS5 and XBS systems. Now rethink your comparison views.

Next step is to realize no normal person is going to be buying and playing this edition and be thinking of the graphics and performance of a stationary machine at a higher cost. If anything, compare it to other handheld devices and also consider the price factor. Only do that if you're interested in being objective.

Finally, consider where handheld systems have been in the past going all the way back to the beginning and understand how far handheld devices have come over the years. If that doesn't change your perspective even just a bit, there might be other personal issues for you to be dealing with.

That looked ...well not the best. Have they enabled some frameskips or something?

Still, if the Switch² is your only gaming platform then it's probably serviceable.

Certainly looks tarnished.

Didnt think this game could get any uglier, but here comes the Switch LOL

I get people want to be the first to reply, but this is a really bad take when we can all see the footage.

It looks good, about the same as when I played it originally. Nobody was expecting a major graphics overhaul...

I have hope for that one since it was built from the ground up for S2.
lmao fromsoft hasn't built anything from the ground up since the very beginning. Everything they've released since demons souls is the same trash with a new coat of paint. I'll always love them for bloodborne, and had a good time with the other souls games, absolutely loved sekiro, but holy shit they've done nothing with their engine in 15 goddamn years.

*edit*

The new trailer source looks substantially better than the earlier video.

Humanity restored.

Is that true?? Because it Will make a lot of sense…

Read some of the responses, then watched, and then knew the usual suspects were foaming at the mouth.

Keep making sure you reply first, so you look like a fucking moron a few minutes later.

This looks like the PS4 version which I played on PS5.

If FROM would be able to lock this to a perfect 30fps with perfect frame times I'd actually think about buying another copy for Switch 2... but if it's uncapped or a shit 30fps lock then I am out.

No, it's that everyone from 20 minutes prior to your post (and OP's edit) saw a completely different video, this:

The new video in the OP looks better by a long mile.

The Switch 2 can be small, it doesn't change the fact that the game looks and runs like shit in that video. Why should people have different standards for a smaller console ? If your standards are high, this is poop and that's it. If they are low, you are happy with it and you will buy it. That's how it works.

And I am definitely not impressed by modern handhelds at all compared to what we had in the past. The Game Boy and Game Gear kicked ass way more often than you want us to believe. And the GBA ? Absolutely glorious. And games were properly optimized for handheld gaming. They were not a TV adjusted presentation, scale and hud thrown on a small screen. Having big TV games running like shit on wannabe handhelds devices is not a win, it's a major loss.

Elden Ring is a Playstation 4 game.

Saying that the Switch 2 games looks and runs like trash and the game boy and game gear kicked ass at the same time is one of the weirdest take i have ever read, Switch 2 is running the big consoles versions of the game while the old handheld had super inferior versions. The issue is that you are expecting a 20Watts hardware to look the same at a 200watts systems. Also, saying that games looks and runs like shit is just trolling. While a few games like Cyberpunk, FF Rebirth or Elden Ring etc etc doesn't look like the big consoles versions doesn't means that the games looks like trash… That kind of achievement was unimaginable 15 years ago.

No I am not. Maybe you should read, and understand what you read, before answering. I have never been expecting anything like this from Switch 1 or 2, and knew perfectly well how games were going to run from the day of release of the consoles.

On topic, the game looked like shit in your first video, don't be a smart-ass. You edited afterwards with something that looks more like 60fps. This doesn't change my point anyway.
