Fuck off with 60fps....

NoA game targeting 30fps will look better and eventually run at 60fps on future hardware.
A game targeting 60fps will be uglier forever.
That would be disappointing if it were the only mode.GTAVI might be that game.
Nah, 15fps is where it's at. Graphics would be double as good than 30fps.
I'm with you OP, unfortunately there are too many cultists who are obsessed with their high framerate. I just don't know why they don't go to play on pc then.I feel like I've only been disappointed with the graphics of this generation. Most games look barely better than PS4 games and I partially blame the shift to trying to make every game have a performance mode.
Hear me out. What if devs made a game at 1080p/30fps with INSANE graphics? I don't mean they should maximize reflection quality with ray tracing and use all of the 30fps frame budget on that. I mean actually make something that is so insanely detailed that the PS5 can ONLY do 30fps on that game.
I can't be the only one that feels like this generation has been PS4.5 right? Looking at the new God of War game, I can't even tell a visual difference from the 2018 GoW game.
I still think EARLY PS4 games were peak graphics. Stuff like DriveClub, The Order 1886, Infamous Second Son, Killzone Shadowfall BLEW ME AWAY back then. Then as the PS4 generation went on, developers seemed to start to get lazy and then into the PS5 era, nothing really changed.
Just chose the quality mode all the time. What game is that?
Get a PC.
In the budgets devs can't afford... That's the actual real bottleneck and not tech these daysI've been following the "Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Generation" thread and so many people are simply disappointed at what they're seeing. Nothing looks like that true next generation jump in graphics. Everything just kinda looks the same these days. Nothing is breaking new ground.
Where's the next gen physics? Where's the next gen distruction? Where's the next gen weather and wind effects?
I really miss the days of the likes of Uncharted 2 and 3 where the game wasn't a massive open world 100 hour game, but instead a very fun, action packed, short game.
I'd rather play a really well made 9 hour game (like RE:R) than a mediocre game that has millions of things to do.
Bring back graphical showpieces!!!
I ignored the State of Play. But IMO, what's up with those PS4 era materials? The canvas blanket at the start has some individual threads, but the main texture is horrible. You don't need raytracing for good physical based rendering. Realistic looking materials make the worlds look so much better.
Not everyone is minted in this day and age.Get a PC.
Or a pro, and that's coming from someone who does 50% of their gaming on pcGet a PC.
And with the first PT on a PS console you'll suddenly praise it to high heavens and ask how anyone could not immediately see the drastic difference.....![]()
The asymptotic curve between real time and pre-rendered was too close in the PS4 generation. Sacrifice 30fps in any game would give you nothing that most of us would notice. Neither the PS6 will. Yes, the acolytes of "right light bouncing on this side of this wall that nobody looks at" will be delighted, but realistically the progress ended in PS4. PS6 RT will help to reduce development cost more than show the consumer anything that the pre-baked lightning of TLOUpII hasn't s already give to them.
Cringe post of the month? Year? All time??Fuck off with 60fps....

Hellblade 2 is 60fps on consoles now. Not even big image quality sacrifices compared to the old 30fps mode. We've seen as such with games like Hellblade 2. No other game has come close, graphically. GTA 6 will likely be the next big tenure in the raw graphics and tech focus, as I can't see Rockstar offering a 60 fps performance mode, even on the PS5 Pro.
Exactly. This gen was a stop gap because of that 30 -> 60 jump in standard, true next gen to PS4 generation will be PS6 gen.
I think in the end most people prefer fluid gameplay over graphics (me included).
Tell me how Evolution Studio was able to craft a game that looks as good as Drive Club? I still think there are details in that game that still have yet to be matched even to this day and yet... while I see high resolution games with great textures, it's all the small stuff that adds up that makes a game truly jaw dropping. In the budgets devs can't afford... That's the actual real bottleneck and not tech these days
Not sure how Quantum computing can impact visual fidelity. Unless you are talking of young folks managing a new technology..?We plateaued graphicly a while back. It's probably downhill from here given that the Graybeards are retiring and being replaced with worse talent (woke smooth brained AI/tiktok users with the attention span of a goldfish.) We'll see what happens with quantum computing.
And with the first PT on a PS console you'll suddenly praise it to high heavens and ask how anyone could not immediately see the drastic difference.....

100%60fps is literally the best thing that ever happened this generation.
Describe what "insane graphics" are. What is a game that is "insanely detailed"?I feel like I've only been disappointed with the graphics of this generation. Most games look barely better than PS4 games and I partially blame the shift to trying to make every game have a performance mode.

"Blind" would be too weak a word for this. The graphic fidelity left between a PS4 and pre-rendered is so narrow that the difference with more advanced techniques must be seen on comparisons.
Ohhhh… I think the "right light bouncing wackos" thing that I said hurt you, right?"Blind" would be too weak a word for this.
