God of War: Laufey Announced

Kratos is a far more popular character but I don't see why you can't build on the story with other characters. Even 2018 God of War did this already.
People aren't just goofing on GOW Laundry.

How to you explain or respond to people saying the trailer was too much cut scenes and walking sim, a talking sword and comedic relief D&D green gelanteous cube?

Thats literally an Egyptian GOD.

Egypt will play a role in the game
Looks like a Demon or alien with Armour on.

Millennial writing to the core. Similar to the latest Metroid game.

I'd respond how I've always responed to that nonsense. You say that like people haven't been trying to call all previous installments and most PS games in general "cinematic walking sims" for decades while enjoying other games with cutscenes and walking/talking. There is actual gameplay and good combat. There was a talking sword in previous God of wars by the way and a very comedic squirrel you can summon.

You're telling me the 20 min trailer we all just watched has the same amount of walking sim and comedy bits as all other GOW games?

I think there was more gameplay in GOW 1 fighting the two mini hydra heads and then the giant kraken head on the boat than that entire 20 min video.

these games are not meant to sell same amount but sequal suppose to sell alot more
Ghost of Tsushima had 40mil more players on PS4 than Yotei on PS5. Tsushima also came out at the peak of covid. A time where more gamers were playing more games than ever before. Yotei is a massive success. Already surely tripled it's budget

Sony's internal projections for Spider-Man 2 show they didn't expect the game to sell more than Spider-Man 2018.

Based on this fact alone, I doubt they expected Ghost of Yotei to sell more copies than Ghost of Tsushima.

Most Resident Evil titles released within the past 7 years still haven't sold more than their predecessor.

All other god of war games, not really no. That game put you straight into the action with tutorial prompts instead, but reboot God of war 2018 yes it's the same. It's not new. It wasn't even new in 2018 either. People played games like past Metal gear Solids where you don't even take control of the character for like 15mins and you get codec calls for talking. Recent games that do walk and talk replaced really long cutscenes where the player still has control of the character and experiences things instead of watching idly. Which you prefer is a matter of preference but it's not like there was too little gameplay in comparison. You had a pretty good boss battle and interactive introduction to the characters. Most of the game is still gameplay.

It will be exactly another Yotei case. Decent sales but nowhere near expectations while media and plastic fans cope about it. Unlike Yotei, this game has a huge budget so I wouldn't bet it will ever be profitable.
It's God of War, they've gotta be pumping like half a billion into this right? I mean they're probably under the assumption that they'll sell 15-20M units (900M-1400M revenue) so the budget on this thing has gotta be sky high.

I am completely speculating but watch it, he doesnt really comment, looks away at his chat to his monitor, reads something and then says "you know what, im gonna jet or whatever"

Looks suspect to buggery.

We have all heard things, if you hang around the industry you hear things and these streamers have decent mods that will assist in helping to secure the bag. i dont know how large of an influencer this specific guy is, I imagine he is big enough to have management of some kind?

Watch it again.
You're just looking for something, it's confirmation bias. You are fighting the fight for Microsoft and look for any vector of attack against enemies of your much coveted company. You said you were done with this taking about this game in this very thread, but yet here you are again. You can't help yourself. You have the temerity to throw around the Sony fanboy tag but you yourself are one of the biggest MS fanboys on here.

I find it funny that people call PlayStation games "walking sims" while ignoring most of the games in the industry.

It's the beginning of the game, and you're being introduced to the world/characters, which happens in A LOT of games.

Look at Resident Evil Requiem. There's no real gameplay until you play as Leon, which is 30 minutes into the game.

That's the daftest excuse ever. She can use magic, what Link can't? And when Laufey uses magic "oh it's forspoken". What's the difference?

I agree......but man, save yourself the stress and stop going back and forth with these people. Let them wallow in their negativity and ignorance. I don't know what the frack has happened to this forum.

Well there you go. Who said hoped though? I was just talking about the fact that people expected a continuation of the story with another character already.

Sure, but how it happens is the core issue. Neither Atreus nor Faye have been properly set up.

- On Faye: Cory may say whatever he likes but "telling the legend" of a dead woman whose only appearance in the first game is as fucking ashes in the wind is a joke at best. Players need to have played with her, she must have taken part in major events, etc. Claiming that "Faye was always there" is history rewritting just as Neil Druckmann said Ellie was also the protagonist of the first TLOU. Both are wrong, by a large margin. Protagonists are characters who move the plot forward in a proactive way. This is not the case. In GOW 2018 she's as important as the suitcase in Pulp Fiction.

- On Atreus: he could have been a logical choice if he grew older in Ragnarok and became more likeable. Unfortunately, his progression was disappointing.

Again, any good story has a beginning and an end. Kratos can't last forever, since that makes his dramatic arc irrelevant. But this is not the way. Sony didnt plan anything and now is using all the tricks modern incompetent writers use: alternate universes, inconsistencies in tone and character behaviors, childish humor that substract gravitas so that players don't take the story too seriously, etc.

From a plot point of view, I regret these bad choices even more. By introducing this multiverse they are messing up with the other mythologies and we won't have new main native characters. This Isekai is just lazy. If anything's possible, why bother being faithful to other interesting myths? Coming up next: aliens and dinosaurs.

she had taken part in major events throughput the 2 games prior to this you just don't play those events because they're likely part of this game. Having 3 playable characters in previous games would have diluted the main characters in those ones. Three would have been a crowd.

Ellie was central to the plot in TLOU. You even played as solely her in the DLC for TLOU1 called Left behind. I'm not sure how much more character development you want but it's clear you're never going to agree whatever is done.

Cory has been planning this since the first reboot in 2018. You can even see him mentioning it in his very old interviews but you choose to reject that too with "he can say whatever he wants". There is no convincing you.

When he went from Greek mythology to Norse it was pretty clear there needed to be some kind of "multiverse" to explain it. This may actually tie it together and explain how he ended up there. Especially as we are seeing Begtse a Mongolian god of war and Sekhmet from Egyptian mythology. We are getting the story of the main character in Krato's life and the one who was key to the norse games. I'm not sure what other character you wanted instead or why.

Should have just been called "Laufey" with no God of War tie-in. I think you'd have a much different reaction then. They just can't help themselves.

I don't know if this have been said before,
But I noticed that the little diamond that makes the A in LAUFEY logo, is the same color as Phranque. Could this mean that it is actually the cube part of the logo, which would imply a more important relevance to the story?

Sony Santa Monica is the only western studio that has great melee combat. They are S tier.

Flashy maybe but lacks the depth and challenge.

The new gow seems no better than what the cheaper Chinese developers are doing now. The AI are lining up to get hit one by one with too much finisher cutscene The boss seems to lack hit feedback

You have clearly never played recent God of War games on the hardest difficulty. It presents great challenge. Combat is certainly not thin. In upcoming game, the stringing of combos will surely be insane. It was already good in demo, and that was just with basic movements of Faye

Chinese developers have not shown much instances in implementing depth in their combat. Wukong was pretty thin. Phantom Blade could change that. The Japanese and Koreans produce games with great depth, like Team Ninja

Its so obvious that Kratos should have died at the end of Ragnarok then ended up in this afterlife realm where he eventually faces off with Zeus again. But instead we get this because they wanted to push this Faye character.

They thought they had a insta hit universally acclaimed awsome product to show ... the disconnection with reality and self pandering continues strong in the California HQ
Trailer is at 4.3M views on the US channel.
And for the 2873293983th time, SIE has Japanese leadership. Global headquarters in California mean literally nothing.
BTW, just for let you guys know, Playstation is deleting some dislikes in their Youtube video.

We know how this end up.
I thought dislike count ceased to exist in 2021, though? 🤔
