That could be cool, why not. But we aren't discussing that ITT but the players/fanbase interest in playing that game.

And here's the difference (imho): RGG is able to spit out a Yakuza spin-off about whatever crazy shit you could imagine with barely any effort/time because they are used to it, have short dev cycles and reuse tons of assets. You won't see Santa Monica half-assing a GOW spinoff and much less if Cory is involved. This means that if fans don't like this Faye game, they'll have to wait another 5-7 years for another GOW game. And that would suck a lot.
Wait a tick, the latest GOW was from 2022 and Valhala is from 2023, i dont think we will wait 5 to 7 years, specially if the gameplay is good. And that's the deal, Faye was shown as a interesting characater, with less self inflicted motivations than has future husband... and almost the same null result. Can that be a interesting game? Absolutely, and I am sure that whoever is denying this possiiblity is projecting all stupidities sony did in the latest years (i still cannot believe they did what the did with saros...). If the game will be interesting, that's a whole otehr story... because I also do not today's Sony.

Whats the point? Is like playing The Last Of Us without Joel.

Having played Ragnarok , I quickly realized that playing with that insufferable kid was enough for me to know that I didnt want to play another God of War without Kratos as a protagonist

And honestly, Faye never looked like an interesting character in the first place, she looked very generic to me.

I know this might be controversial but I cant see myself playing a God of War game with a female protagonist and no I am not a sexist person, I dont mind female main protagonists but a God of War game feels weird and out of place. Its like playing Metal Gear without Snake

That being said I am curious to know your thoughts and perspectives
Or like playing tomb Raider without Lara Croft.

I couldn't disagree here to be honest.

Yeah sure saying it like that doesn't sound exciting. Especially after Ragnarok that has the Atreus section that were so inifitely boring to death. Imo Ragnarok could been a 9.5/10 but because of Atreus sections i'd give it a 7 or 8/10 at best.

That being said if it's game direct by the goat Cory Barlog who made GOW2 (that i still replay sometimes even today) and GOW 2018 then i'm mad hype for it. This game is gonna shut up a bunch of mouths i'm feeling.

- Kratos's arc was finished with GOW3. Everything that came after is trash. I don't mean the games being trash but their respective stories.
Highly disagree. My favorite Kratos is in GoW 2018 by a country mile.

So many unbelievable, masterful scenes. His demeanor the entire game, his fucking voice in the home-theatre, his lines ("Speak, head".. not Ragnarok's "my sweet dear friend and therapist Mimir" for fuck sake).. the purest form of the "Do you feel in charge?" Bane essence made character. Most stoic and masculine figure I've ever seen in any medium.. especially compared to GoW III Kratos throwing tantrums.

The way that "I know. But I am your monster no longer." hit man.. with that fucking walk straight through Athena and that goddamn music..

9sbPR7UD4nAJBcHB.gif

Favorite moments, "I am a God, boy".

Kratos finds the Greek relic, and later drinks wine with that final "Aaah" exhale..

The Blades of Chaos scene, obviously, which is honestly the most badass thing I've ever experienced, especially since no one was expecting the Blades to return.

Kratos finds Zeus.. his voice on the home-theatre when he goes "My father", instant 200% testosterone boost..

Not to mention all the high level gameplay badassery.. ah man, what a fucking masterpiece. That's where God of War ended for me.

Here's a masterpiece video on Ragnarok failures that I highly recommend:

For those who don't remember, Sony tried to make a sort of "female God of War" two generations ago, riding the hype of God of War II and the anticipation for God of War III.

It didn't really work out. The game looked great technically, but the gameplay felt clunky, and while the protagonist was attractive, she lacked charisma. To this day, Sony still owns the rights to Heavenly Sword, but the franchise has basically been forgotten.

The thing is, the kind of female God of War we actually want is more like this.

Another disagree from me, Nariko was an awesome character all around. I loved her.

But as you said, the gameplay was super clunky compared to God of War and the game ran at like 10fps. Still looks great though, sooo many enemies.

Yeah. Its new gow with giants and possibly expanding to other lores before Faye met Kratos. Im sure it will be banger. Seems like people here as usual have forgotten that theres many great games with female leads

Are you implying Nariko is not attractive? Are you a fag?

I wasn't really a fan of the last two God of War games anyway so it doesn't matter what character im playing as.

I have zero interest in this game but game devs have made things before that I have zero interest in only to be blown away by what they made.

Ragnarok was straight out awful. Its like a totaly different person moving from its new counter-part franchise, as if the person who made Ragnarok has lingering hate for Kratos entire personna.
If this is true, then I'm pretty sure it would doom the entire franchise. Because no way they wouldn't take opportunity to throw jabs at Kratos for his "toxic masculinity".

Some concepts:

- A GOW game needs a God of War. It's in the fucking title. So no, I want to play something that matches that premise.

- Kratos's arc was finished with GOW3. Everything that came after is trash. I don't mean the games being trash but their respective stories.

- The norse saga is such a waste of potential. If they wanted so badly a woman taking the mantle, they could have made up the story of a woman that turns into a valkyrie, and it would honor the saga title, since valkyries are gods of war themselves. That could have been brutal (IF well written) and more faithful to the spirit of the saga than Nu-Kratos and his annoying brat.

I don't mind not having Kratos as MC, he should be phased out for good, but I want the saga to be true to its origins: brutal, violent, EPIC.

what I DONT want is "feelings", social commentary, Marvel yapping and any other retarded stuff.

Unfortunately, Santa Monica heard my wishes and laughed all the way to the masculinity deconstruction center to pick up ideas for their next game.
Agreed. Kratos was so weak in the reboots. I barely want to play him again, nevermind his dead wife lmfao

Still can't believe we only killed two gods across these games. The entire Norse pantheon at their disposal, and the best they could do was strangling twink Heimdall.

It wasnt awful really. Atreus sections sucked, but somehow from 2018 game you keep missing point that Kratos is just done with all bullshit. He had his peaceful life until Faye died. Plenty was said in scene of him recovering blades

Of course not.

A lot of people here pretending to be a GoW fan.

God of War without Kratos is not God of War.

Kratos is the only God of War.

When I played it, her face seemed familiar...

Now, thanks to you, I know who she is in real life.

Therefore, the complaint that she's unfeminine wouldn't be a reason for hatred from the usual suspects.

I think the game is based on Freya; the title won't be God of War.

So all of this is pointless.

I don't play the God of War games and I doubt this will change anything. They'd have to ditch the forced narrative driven aspects and allow me to focus on the gameplay. "Can't skip cutscenes until you've beaten the game", fuck right on off with that shit lol

I'm cautious about the storyline and characters but I'm still looking forward to it because its santa monica and God of war, so I know its gonna be good at worst.

It no longer matters, they twisted Kratos personality so much that it doesn't feel like same character anymore.

I just very hard for me to get excited for new God of War like I used to back in PS2/PS3 days.

Its been rumored by reliable people its Fayes story with Tyr. It involves her weapon being able to speak(King Arthur mythos) and spanning several mythologies

Still can't believe we only killed two gods across these games.
Baldur (The Stranger) - Aesir God of Light and the son of Freya. Kratos snapped his neck in the 2018 game.
Magni - Aesir God of Strength and son of Thor. Kratos split his skull with the Leviathan Axe in 2018.
Modi - Aesir God of Berserker Rage and Magni's brother. Kratos killed him with the Leviathan Axe in 2018.
Heimdall - Aesir God of Foresight and guardian of the Bifrost. Kratos choked him to death during Ragnarok.

Gods killed in the two original games:

Ares - The original God of War, killed at the end of the 2005 game.
Athena - The Goddess of War and Wisdom, accidentally killed at the end of God of War II.

I forced myself to finish Ragnarok and finished it just barely, so I think I am over this entire extremely overhyped franchise, thanks.

I don't mind mixing things up, but the story of God of War is the story of the God of War, and so it's hard to imagine it without him. It's also worth noting that the parts of Ragnarok where Kratos isn't around are by far the worst parts of that game, which doesn't inspire much confidence in SSM's ability to make an entire game without him.

They gameplay should be good but I have no faith in the story. Ragnarok turned God of War into a corny marvel movie.
That's exactly what is and this exactly why I hate Marvel with passion, because Marvel is literally infecting majority of western entertainment.

No. If I launch a God of War title, it's to play as the God of war. Now I don't need it to be Kratos, especially after Ragnarok. The story of that game was so bad it killed any hype for a futur title.

Yea. Complaining about not playing as Joel in the second entry actually makes sense in comparason. We've seen Kratos 9 other times lmao. They've made nothing but God of War with Kratos for over 2 decades. This is the closest thing to a New IP we'll get from them. The combat should look and feel completely different.

However, I think you're all missing the point. . . This isnt a God of War game.. Thats Kratos, hes the god of war.... This is a Faye game, in the same universe. But you bet your ass Kratos will be in it, and likely playable too.

They will call it... Fayeble. Launching February 2027.

No Kratos plus (probably) no PC release = money saved without even trying.
Can't wait to see the excuses for it "under-performing" 12 months after release.

You mean you didn't play MGS2 as raiden then? Were you one of those people back then?
Why the insults for saying that I am not excited to play with a female protagonist or just any other character in a God of war game?

In the first page of this thread Ive called already

Incel
Misogynistic
Whiny little bitch.

Why this attitude?

And a better question is why is Moderation allowing this type of behavior? @EviLore
This is the thing. People like yourself throw around these insults too:
Nintendo cucks be like
Cuck simulator this, bitch that. Then people are like "why are you making this about sex bro" when they get insults thrown back at them. As they say "Don't dish it out if you can't take it". Nobody even mentioned "misogynist" here except you either.

I would like a return to the feeling that GOW 3 had with immense sense of scale and the savage brutality of the old games.

These new games had some fun combat but they needed much better boss battles and many more options for brutal cinematic finishing moves on common enemies.

Ragnarok was a huge let down for me especially since they hyped the Thor fight for so long and it ended up being super underwhelming. Also that big ass wolf was way under used. Would of been cool to ride it into battle or control it at some point.

I can't wrap my head around how Faye will be used in multiple mythologies that were teased at the end of the Reboot? Something doesn't add up with these leaks.

Nariko was hot, I already made that clear in my comment. She had one of the best pairs of legs from the entire PS3 generation.

As for Faye, the actress/model the character is based on, she's stunning, and Santa Monica didn't stay very faithful to her real appearance in GOW. (Recent photos)

In the 8 canon Metal Gear games, you play as Snake in 4 of them.

(That's not counting MGS Ground Zeroes, Survive, or Portable Ops, none of which has you playing the iconic Snake hero either. MGA1&2 do have Snake, but those and also MG GB are not canon. MGS2, you do technically play as Snake for the first half hour, so maybe count 4 1/2 games? )

Considering female characters are absolutely insufferable in modern PlayStation Sudios games. I won't touch this game with a 10-foot pole.
