I'd rather play god of war egypt or god of war aztec.

But we haven't really seen any of the game yet, could be good.

Yes.

Thanks to how incredible TLOU 2 was without Joel.
Barlog, as much shit as I give him for taking forever, he can do similar.
Open your damn minds. This is a franchise. Of course they will want to expand the universe. Best way to do that is to show the stories of different characters in said universe.

I mean if the game is good why not

Whoever says no is a idiot that is mixing the possibility of a new game with the possible lack of talent of today's Sony to create a interesting female character without being woke.
Yeah! Whoever has a different opinion than you is a dummy bro!

Thank God you're here to set us on the right path bro, thank you.

Amazing games, and both platinum trophy holders.

But guys, let's wait and see the gameplay before we unleash all our hate on Sony.

Amazing game, not games.
GoW 2018 and Ragnarok aren't the same. Not even in main character.

I know Barlog is extremely talented, and he poured such a huge chunk of his life into this. But I'm just not interested in the slightest. Maybe will change after I see the thing, but I doubt.

2 > 3 > Reboot > 1

Haven't played Ragnarok, probably never will. This Faye thing, I hope for the sake of the fans that it's fake and they get a cool egyptian GOW game.
Its low key annoying that the second game felt bigger in scope than the third game and it's borderline lost in time. Shit, I even see people talking about ascension more than it even if it's negative - guess launching so close to the PS3 was a bad thing to do even with BC and the later HD collection.

There's a difference between not playing as Joel in the second entry of a series versus not playing as Kratos in the 10th game in the God of War series.

Spin-offs have been a thing for ages now. If the game is amazing, might give it a try. If its just a low budget kind of game overpriced to 80 euros as the typical Sony game, then it can fuck off. Still havent played Yotei and Saros for those specific reasons. 50% sales for these type of games. Excited for Wolverine tho.

I loved everything about 2 and it's my fav in the series, but I didn't know people were already forgotting about it. Hopefully that trilogy remake does it justice.

Never played Ascension btw. How is it?

Me and you disagreed about GoW combat to the point I had reasses it and learned to appreciate it. Ragnarok lost something which is weird because it has these framework of something amazing, especially the instant DmC style weapon and technique cancelling, but it didn't have the tightness of the original that made you feel like the "god at war" dominating the Battlefield.

Leas forgetting and more that when it comes up in discussion it's almost always Orignal, 3, 18 and Ragnarok, like its just not in their purview for discussion.

Some concepts:

- A GOW game needs a God of War. It's in the fucking title. So no, I want to play something that matches that premise.

- Kratos's arc was finished with GOW3. Everything that came after is trash. I don't mean the games being trash but their respective stories.

- The norse saga is such a waste of potential. If they wanted so badly a woman taking the mantle, they could have made up the story of a woman that turns into a valkyrie, and it would honor the saga title, since valkyries are gods of war themselves. That could have been brutal (IF well written) and more faithful to the spirit of the saga than Nu-Kratos and his annoying brat.

I don't mind not having Kratos as MC, he should be phased out for good, but I want the saga to be true to its origins: brutal, violent, EPIC.

what I DONT want is "feelings", social commentary, Marvel yapping and any other retarded stuff.

Unfortunately, Santa Monica heard my wishes and laughed all the way to the masculinity deconstruction center to pick up ideas for their next game.

If it is a spin off that is even going to have a different style of gameplay (like DMC if rumors are to be believed) then yeah, why not, bring it on.
If it was God of War 6, I don't know if I would play it without Kratos.

To be honest, while I find the systematic push from Sony to replace all their male characters pretty eye rolling and off putting, I don't really mind the idea of a GOW game without Kratos.
GOW 1-3 Kratos was cool, sad dad Kratos in 2018 was ok but by the end of Rangnarok I wasn't left too excited for another 30 hours of grumpy old Kratos talking about "violence = bad".

So far I've just not seen any compelling new character to replace him. Atreus is terrible, and Faye just seems like another generic Sony female character that will be stoic and boring and spend the whole game lecturing people and talking about "muh trauma". In literally every scene we've seen her she just comes across as Krato's therapist and/or mentor.

There's a chance this game goes completely left-field and ends up being very different to any of the GOW games. Some have rumoured it could be similar to Hades.

As long as the gameplay stands up on its own and it isn't trying to be GOW without Kratos, then it could surprise a lot of people.

I would prefer some kind of "maybe - I'm open minded" option. Good games are good games. Assuming a Kratos game will be good because he's in it, or a game won't be because he's not seems odd.

Apparently there are only 2 camps: Woke or non-woke. I'm also in the not included 3rd option.

Yup. They can get creative with this. But some people already made up their mind about the game so there will be people who will still criticize it no matter what.

Mostly no, but kind of looking forward to see (but not necessarily buy) what Cory can come up with.

Generally, Faye is not particularly interesting character for me and I just don't trust modern Sony to deliver a story I will like.

New character, vistas, and mechanics wrapped in the lore of the GoW universe? Yes please. Who that person is matters far less than what they do with them.

Having played Ragnarok , I quickly realized that playing with that insufferable kid was enough for me to know that I didnt want to play another God of War without Kratos as a protagonist

And honestly, Faye never looked like an interesting character in the first place, she looked very generic to me.

I know this might be controversial but I cant see myself playing a God of War game with a female protagonist and no I am not a sexist person, I dont mind female main protagonists but a God of War game feels weird and out of place. Its like playing Metal Gear without Snake

That being said I am curious to know your thoughts and perspectives

Yeah yeah I'm not saying the game will be bad just for changing main character, but I bet fans would prefer Kratos over anyone else, which makes me wonder why they'd think making a GOW game without Kratos could be a good idea.

I don't like your examples lol. Yakuza doesn't really do without Kiryu for more than one game (7), and I wouldn't count AC sinze Ezio was introduced in the 2nd game.
I did not play Yakuza 8, and it looks like it did not create the same buzz as Yakuza 7 -> but wouldn't it be the same case as new possible spin off? I mean, why dont create a game with Faye where Kratos wouldbe the final boss (and that would be a prequel for the norse saga) ?

For the record Im also not excited about continuing to play with the current Kratos.

So anything beyond bringing old badass Kratos back is a huge nope for me anyway.

That could be cool, why not. But we aren't discussing that ITT but the players/fanbase interest in playing that game.

And here's the difference (imho): RGG is able to spit out a Yakuza spin-off about whatever crazy shit you could imagine with barely any effort/time because they are used to it, have short dev cycles and reuse tons of assets. You won't see Santa Monica half-assing a GOW spinoff and much less if Cory is involved. This means that if fans don't like this Faye game, they'll have to wait another 5-7 years for another GOW game. And that would suck a lot.

Yea. Complaining about not playing as Joel in the second entry actually makes sense in comparason. We've seen Kratos 9 other times lmao. They've made nothing but God of War with Kratos for over 2 decades. This is the closest thing to a New IP we'll get from them. The combat should look and feel completely different.

However, I think you're all missing the point. . . This isnt a God of War game.. Thats Kratos, hes the god of war.... This is a Faye game, in the same universe. But you bet your ass Kratos will be in it, and likely playable too.
