Are you excited to play a God of War without Kratos?

Are you excited for the new God of War with Faye as a protagonist?

Having played Ragnarok , I quickly realized that playing with that insufferable kid was enough for me to know that I didnt want to play another God of War without Kratos as a protagonist

And honestly, Faye never looked like an interesting character in the first place, she looked very generic to me.

I know this might be controversial but I cant see myself playing a God of War game with a female protagonist and no I am not a sexist person, I dont mind female main protagonists but a God of War game feels weird and out of place. Its like playing Metal Gear without Snake

That being said I am curious to know your thoughts and perspectives

Haven't played Ragnarok, probably never will. This Faye thing, I hope for the sake of the fans that it's fake and they get a cool egyptian GOW game.

Ragnarok played well, but the story was awful, like so awful it retroactively ruined 2018 for me. I have no faith in the Sony Santa Monica longhouse to actually deliver a game AND story worthy of 2018 and earlier.

If this were the year 2006 then I'd be pretty excited for what they're cooking up.

In the year 2026, I'm just assuming it's another Woke Sony Slop until I am proven otherwise.
 
Whoever says no is a idiot that is mixing the possibility of a new game with the possible lack of talent of today's Sony to create a interesting female character without being woke.
 
Not really. Maybe if it was Tyr. I'll reserve full judgment until I actually see the game, but I'm not excited for it at all.

Maybe. Or maybe people would just prefer to play as Kratos.
 
I am excited to play good games.
If they want to make a game in the GoW universe with the same recipe as the last two, i am all for that.

What I want to see from SMS though is current gen jaw dropping graphics.
 
Generic characters phase out, legendary characters stick around. They will probably create alternate timelines or prequels to bring him back if games don't sell well without him.
 
Would prefer Kratos of course.

I am confident that the graphics will be good. So IF the game is good gameplay wise (they need to improve the game/perspective for nu GoW I think) and the story is decent (not hopeful as recent Sony 1P games story telling was disastrous) I would give it a go.

I have skipped both GOY and Saros.
 
Atreus failed as a replacement 'cause the director of Ragnarök made him with a weak and boring personality. Kratos' wife is already dead right at the beginning of the new phase, she's already irrelevant for the future, and it'll be ridiculous trying to find a way to bring her back to life.

God of War is one of those franchises where Kratos is the face and the whole personality of the series. It's really hard to separate the games from him, it's like Snake with Metal Gear.

Yeah yeah I'm not saying the game will be bad just for changing main character, but I bet fans would prefer Kratos over anyone else, which makes me wonder why they'd think making a GOW game without Kratos could be a good idea.

I don't like your examples lol. Yakuza doesn't really do without Kiryu for more than one game (7), and I wouldn't count AC sinze Ezio was introduced in the 2nd game.
 
Imagine being Herm and getting this news and having to pretend to be excited about it because you won't stand up to Corey and tell him to make a fucking regular God of War game with boundary pushing graphics that 20 million people will buy.

I haven't played about half of ragnarok yet. But I finished 2018 right before ragnarok released so maybe it'll motivate me.

I thought Ragnarok absolutely paled in comparison to the game before it. The gameplay was nice when it was there. But I felt like majority of the game I was watching or in slow walking segments.

As long as the game is good, I don't really care. I feel like the IP has become such a shadow of its former self. So as long as it's good I'm happy.
 
I am cautiously excited to play this game beause of the director. But this won't be a God of War game anymore. it will be something else.

I hope they'have the courage to name it something else.
 
It's probably another third person game, and I'll be fine with watching a female from behind while playing instead of that grumpy Kratos yet again.
It's not like he's a very interesting character. Neither is Freye, but something different is probably a good idea.
Hopefully the son is nowhere to be seen. He was a bloody terrible side kick.

I just hope they improve the combat a bit. The regular fighs got pretty boring after a while in the previous two.

I don't mind if they they try other characters in that world but it's Faye that just means more Norse which I think everyone hoped/thought they were done with.
 
Surely they cant call it God of War if you aren't playing as the God of War?

Either way nah. I want GOW to go back to the roots with Kratos ripping everything to fuck and actually ya know, being the God of War.
 
Wish it was just a new IP. I just don't like the new God Of War games settings or storytelling. Cory deserves free range to make something new new.
 
I am indifferent towards the protagonist at the moment without having seen any of the game.

But what I am excited about is playing a new God of War game made by Cory Barlog. That guy has had his hand in almost every game in the series, including directing my personal goat, God of War 2. So even a spinoff made by him is exciting.

Ask me again tomorrow, if they reveal the damn thing. Not even sure it will be called God of War, but regardless, I don't strictly require a character's presence to justify a franchise. If they can flesh out the intriguing story about the Giants, which I think was the best part of the last 2 games anyway, I'm in.

And who knows? What if we get to see a hot young Faye who romances Kratos? Hot sex minigame 2.0? Let's find out exactly how that whiny little shit was made

Because its always the same. You haven't seen nothing from the game. And calling out EviLore EviLore because of this is being a bit whiney, so my point is valid.
If the game is bad, or woke slop, or anything like that I'll criticize it, until then it's just non stop whinnery.
 
Can you imagine there's no God of War, or rather, that the game isn't even based on Freya?
