i think if you just skip the stupid story and play the game it will be fun. when i played ratchet and clank rift apart I turned off all the annoying voice audio and skipped all the crap and had a blast. However, I will not buy this game at full price 40 dollars only! You know what else, astro bot had no dialogue and it was a great game!

Yeah now it's the gameplay alone that pulls me in. Might be enough, it's Housemarque, but now it looks Returnal-samey when looking at it. What makes it stand out now?

Overcorrection? For there to be an "overcorrection", there would first need to be a "correction" which isn't happening in Western studios at all, they're still churning out woke slop most gamers don't want. Pointing this fact out certainly isn't an "overcorrection", and yes it needs to get pointed out every time and that garbage I read in that tweet definitely fits the definition of woke.

Personally, i don't really care about story in games either way, but especially in a game like this that clearly focuses on gameplay, you can just overlook that. It's not one of Sony's usual walk-and-talk cinematics where everything revolves around the story.

Yeah, really only the second-to-last point sounds unequivocally "woke" to me. The rest reads like the standard "tortured protagonist with an unreliable perspective seeking redemption" shit that we've seen in countless "mature, gritty" games before. Not exactly a selling point for the game, but nothing egregious.

Haven't played it yet, I do get the sentiment of being over woke games but I gotta say, this one doesn't bother me, even if it is. It's a Housemarque game. I wasn't expecting really anything for the story in one of their games, just want kick ass gameplay. Like returnal is probably in my top 5 for favorite games this gen, and the "story" in that game is so vague and forgettable that I don't even remember what it really involved.

Protag sounds more like an antag and this is likely revealed as the game goes on. Sounds like an original idea for a game where the story is about someone who is making bad decisions and his life is unravelling. To play it spoiler free will likely be a unique experience that you remember because it isn't a happy story.

The strength of the story is in the telling so shitty bullet points will never do it justice. Personally I welcome the concept.

The source of the tweet being deeply racist explains why an enthicity is a problem, so all you're left with is lesbian being justification. Doesn't sound like the most woke game ever to me.

This is the same Sony that gave us gender swapped Ghost, Ratchet and Clank, The Last of Us, and apparently even God of War next. The same Sony that gave us Horizon: Forbidden West, Spider Man 2, and still making games like Intergalactic. This is par for the course for modern Sony unfortunately.
