Dont you need to recreate all textures in order to look good?
very interesting insight, thanks !In layman terms, there are changes to the textures because they have to define how these textures will behave when PT lights hits it.
Otherwise it will not even work. You can change the light back to full raster with the mod but you will get "Blender like" full solid textures.
Imagine if we could put modern sprites and background over everything in FFVII, VIII, and IX.
This made me try it, wow it looks absolutely amazing for it to be dark souls 2! Playing in my 5090 so not seeing any performance issues and it was literally 60 seconds Google search, extract to gane folder and play.
Is there a version of this type mod for dark souls 1 and or 3?
Yeah it was pretty obvious the moment they released it. Called it out right away. The guy didn't even enable it, was showing the older RTGI mod instead and trying to pass it off as PT, either knowingly or unknowingly. Probably the latter, but who knows? Ok. Image on twitter looks path traced and the method is legit. The elanalistabits video doesn't demonstrate it though. I think they are up to some shenanigans again.
The video shows RTGI and may be RT reflections. Not seeing the path tracing. When PT goes on, the difference is always obvious as all the shadow maps would disappear and you get realistic shadows instead.

Wow, WTF? This looks kind of how they wanted Deep Down to look… now I feel like erasing my save and replaying it like this. Very good looking and it almost feels like another game with the enhancements.

Hahaha, I'm LTTP but didn't really study previous pages. But yeah, some of them are almost 1:1.
Game is now way too dark in some places, and torch mechanics are absolutely bad. Character should emit more light like in original DeS.
