Crimson Desert has sold 5 million copies

GOTY for me, easily, doesn't matter what else releases. I knew before I played that, at least in theory, it was my favorite type of game, and sure enough, PA proved me right.
I'll probably end up having more fun with Crimson Dawn than GTA6, but I don't see any universe in which GTA6 doesn't win the whole year as far as awards and such are concerned. Especially with the review situation around CD.

Great post and shows that having actual attractive women in a game is not a bad thing. In fact it is quite normal and welcoming as opposed to the western weirdo women that are pushed so hard by western devs.

Oh I fully expect GTA 6 to be everyone's darling come rewards time, there's no way it isn't. Just for me personally, CD is it!

I love me some good old "sold" news. Not shipped. Not number of players. Not hours played. Not downloads.
Sold vs shipped arguments are overblown. They are usually basically the same thing.

First, digital sales these days are the majority of sales and there is literally no difference. For physical, those copies ARE sold as far as the publisher is concerned. It's extremely rare for those copies to be returned to the publisher because they cannot be sold at retail. Sold-through numbers just indicate how quickly the retail distributor will buy more copies to sell.

I agree with the rest. Anything that talks about anything other than copies sold just comes off as the publisher trying to hide something.

Cohh, the pillar of the modern gaming ecosystem, explains pretty much why this game is the best experience - and the worst - But still the best.

5 million copies sold

5 out of 10 from Edge Magazine

Coincidence I think not!

It must mean Marathon will sell 9 million copies very soon!

This is often the case with Edge and I; We simply don't get along... (that fucking bitch needs to die already...)

(I used to love reading their articles back in the days when they were actually good though).

I am doing my parts.

Also, its gratifying to see an actual video game made by game developers (not a board room) warts and all get the recognition it deserves. For me this game offers a fantastic and authentic video game experience and delivers on the escapism I was hoping it would.

That's $350 Million in revenue in about one month's time! Amazing for a game that cost around $120 Million. Profit sure is nice, huh? And yet stupid execs keep pushing the GAAS will save the industry lie.

Happy to see people being able and eager to enjoy a game that doesn't hand hold nor solves it's own puzzles for you. Good stuff.

It deserves 20M imo. Ive been playing every moment I can since reaease (currently at ~140Hrs in chapter 9) and I cant get enough. People that designed the world need fat bonuses.

Typical GAF response. When you can't defend the game's broken mechanics, you pivot to personal insults. If 'insufficient skill' means I actually expect a game to have readable telegraphs and balanced combat instead of mindless potion chugging.
C'mon man, if you don't like it is all right. The game has some jank. If you regularly play games is not insufficient skill, more like getting accustomed. I'm 85 hours in and i found nothing game breaking in combat or otherwise. My critisism comes from some poor explanation on how some mechanics works ( like one mission in wich you got to spy and listen to a conversation an you need to stand in a very concrete place, quality of life options lacking, stuff like that). The controls imputs could be better, YES, agreed. It has that momentum like RDR2, maybe because the physics engine and the destruction- The frame windows for those imputs sometimes are fucked up. keep in mind that some imputs and basic attacks requires maintaining the button pressed and them combining them with others to chain them and make them flow..

IMO Elden Ring (iloved that game) has the worst enemies interactions of all souls games. Crimson Desert plays very diferent, beyond comparison, it relies on fighting mobs with different types of soldiers. And the main character complains? LOL everyone acting like Geralt or some random created avatar in From games exudes charisma, i remember NOTHING of the nunces of the story of TW3 ( what i remember about TW3 is the basic boring combat) or Elden Ring. The lore of CS in nothing to write home about and so does majority of action adventure games.

Game actually has readable telegraphs and you actually can learn how the bosses fight if you stay in Focus mode with the slowdown. Much like MMO fights you just have to learn mechanics. It's more of a dance then a run of the mill boss fight.

Different bosses require different strategies.

Did anyone think it was gonna magically solve all of Starfield's problems porting it to PS5? It doesn't magically make the game good or anything. The lack of sales was kind of anticipated by most I'd think.

Plus, that tweet doesn't even say Starfield is selling bad on PS5. It's comparing it to it being the biggest Bethesda RPG in 10 years. Like, wat?! What does that even mean?....

It's a banger, even if it comes with a lot of frustrating moments

Still, I'm really enjoying it, the sheer amount of content and things to do is absolutely bonkers.

Plus the devs are doing an amazing job updating etc. It's rare to see a single-player game getting this much attention post launch.

I think someone over there thinks the mindshare that Bethesda has is bigger than it actually is. They've dropped a few meh games in a row at this point. Not bad, but not great. It's been a while since Skyrim/FO4, and I don't think most are expecting greatness for the next Elder Scrolls or Fallout titles.

The game is just so huge with so many things to do. I've about 50 hours in, and I still haven't even left the first area. The more I play, the more I have adapted to the controls, and what felt awkward at the beginning I am getting more and more comfortable with.

If you don't remember the nuances of The Witcher 3, it's not because the writing was bad, it's because you clearly weren't paying attention. Characters like Geralt, Yennefer, Triss or the Bloody Baron are gaming icons precisely because of their dialogue, wit, and charisma. They stay with you for years.

In Crimson Desert, the protagonist's emotional range is basically "Yes", "Understood" and "Mhm." It's so dry that the lack of a skip dialogue button feels like a design flaw. You can dislike TW3's combat all you want (I agree - it was its weakest point even 11 years ago), but pretending that a generic CD lead has even 1% of Geralt's charisma is just delusional.

Agree to disagree i guess.

Kliff reminds me a lot of Geralt. Both arent the biggest talkers...and I like it a lot. But there are also celebrated open world games where the main character doesnt talk at all. ;) (just to stay fair in judgement)

Tbh not nearly enough to how much it deserves. CD has its quirks and all, but it is a great game. And Pearl Abyss has been killing with the post-release support.

I'm saving this one for summer. At the current patching rate, in July I'll be playing Crimson Desert 2.0 : The unofficial sequel to Crimson Desert.

Apples and oranges. Silent protagonists work in games like Zelda or Elden Ring because those games are designed as 'blank slates' for player immersion and world-driven storytelling.

Take note western woke "modern audience" devstudios- its not sellout journos who make ur game succesful- it has to be catered to playerbase aka males for it to make big bucks :messenger_ok:

Game has genuine potential to sell another 1m full price durning its launchwindow and easily 10 to 15m ltd.

Still have Tides of Annihilation, Onimusha, and Phantom Blade Zero to come.

Still waiting for this one. The devs are updating it so quickly that I bet it'll be a very different, much more polished game in a year from now. Kind of like TW3.

I really hope they solve the pop-in issue and allow higher sample counts for RT without enabling max lighting that destroys performance. I just want something without all the noise and visual artifacts that isn't 1/16 ray per pixel.
Geoff Keighley will nominate it the best supported game if not goty.

I'm really impressed by the piece of shit being this of sexual. Being successful is really hard these days it seems and given the early reception and misunderstanding with the game, I am very pleased in a sexual manner about this.

I'm bouncing around and have given time to the game and because of life I've taken a break that I had no choice but then have picked it back up and I can tell this is going to be one of those games that I'm bouncing around for months. And I'm okay with that because there's bound to be alone even though I just got a switch 2 and there is games coming out like Forza horizon 5 which I think is the last game in a while that I anticipate getting other than that damn Yoshi game that's coming out May 21st. I guess I'm pretty much screwed but the game has sold 5 million and that is a true son of a bitch if you ask me
