Then you should know that just because there is component similarities, Consoles still benefit from custom software. And that the entire point of Xbox going PC was because they were losing market-share to the point of no longer able to GET 3rd party custom software. QED the Nextbox will just run PC games with no games made for the hardware, because that was the point.
Anyone who thinks the Xbox hybrid would still get performance boosts from games tailor made for it, didn't understand why Xbox became a Hybrid. They were not going to be big enough to get 3rd party support to have a traditional console, so by definition there is no 3rd party support with the PC hybrid.

Sony doesn't really need to be super competitve on price next gen, it will look like a much better investment compared to NextBox even if it came in at $700.

If you have Windows installed and can see porn it's a PC. Period.
It'll probably be Win 12, so probably it'll end up being 25% less.Watch the 25% more become 10% less because they need to run the Win11 experience
Anyway hardware power is irrelevant if one device is targeting a 100m installed base and the other 10m at best.

I thought PS systems you could surf the net. No browser? On Xbox you can. Sucks using a gamepad, but it actually works well. Tested out the browser watching porn myself years back and the video quality was better than I thought it would be. lol

True! But I don't think Sony will be competing directly with the NextBox anyway. Indirectly yes, but we all know the truth here. But Sony will be competing with themselves.
And it's going to be very important for Sony to show they aren't falling off in a huge way with the PS6 versus the PS5.

Few games actually used Windows CE on Dreamcast. Sega Rally was one of them.

Their S tier games havent been that for years and anything that remains is on other consoles/PC.
They can be 100% more powerful and it wouldnt matter. It would be expensive hardware with zero incentive to purchase when i can get what i want anywhere. Everything is an xbox.
When they double down on exclusives- if ever - i will take a look at their consoles. They are saving me money next get when i skip.

that was a very common misunderstanding for a long time.
it was only very recently that people with enough reach clarified what Windows CE actually is and what it does on Dreamcast.

I still have trouble believing Kepler's claim that PS6 is on par roughly with 9070XT. That's like 5070 Ti level?
It's rumoured to be 160w top and on 3nm. 3nm doesn't provide that much of an efficiency leap from 4nm that 9070xt is on. Unless, and this is a big if, RDNA 5 is really that big of architectural leap. But looking at AMD's gpu division past track record, I have serious doubts

The PS5 Pro is somewhat around the 4060Ti in raster performance. 5070Ti is about twice as powerful as the 4060Ti.
So it depends on how much more powerful the PS6 is compared to the PS5 Pro. 2x more powerful GPU performance is probably realistic, given RDNA 5 improvements, higher bandwidth and significantly higher clocks.

Curious about those statistics, specially since neither PS4 or 5 can use a browser to access internet. PS4 there was some kind of trick, but doubt it was widespread.

The worst part? The genres aren't even real. Consoles can play youtube store images and video stream and surf the web and PCs can play games. It's all meaningless. Just call them computers and move on. The only reason to worry about this is if you have coined the terms in your mind as inferior and superior. If you imagine that PC is something cool and consoles are for kids, that's the reason you hold on so tightly to that definition. Without it, you lose your sense of identity. I'm not saying call them computers, call them whatever you like, I'm saying who cares and why do they care if a PC is called a console? Why is that offensive? btw. how is that even possible?
in order to get into the PS4 or PS5 browser you need to do some weird tricks with twitter or facebook logins, and then navigate without an adress bar.
this is clearly all kids using console tricks to go on there undetected by their parents.

The days of custom software are long over and it's only like RARE Replay, that is an Xbox console exclusive, yet games were still made to get the best out of the Xbox One X, even though it's just a PC in a box and had small market share, even by some 3rd parties.The next Xbox will be powerful and will looks to give console developers their 1st taste of Zen 5, which may help Next Box, lead on some 3rd parties games early in.
