What time is it?
RAM alone is 300+ dollars.
No idea if it will translate, but the OEM I work with has seen much more gradual price hikes with systems with soldered RAM vs DIMMS/SODIMMS.

But I doubt they use GDDR7.
Like I said. Most software RT games (most UE5 games) are running better on XSX while the CPU limited and hardware RT games are running better (or similar) on PS5. I noticed this in most games. Some games are running better on PS5 with RT. Other games are running better on XSX. Same situation as with non RT games.
It would be but I doubt it will happen. Unless Sony wants to lose billions like with PS3 launch.
Terrible specs. 54 CUs running at 3 Ghz gives us 20 tflops. The 40 tflops is the bullshit inflated numbers AMD has been using since RDNA3.
In actuality, this thing is basically 20 RDNA2 tflops or 2x more powerful than the PS5. Literally the worst jump of all time. Absolute garbage.

Thing is on next-gen there won't be software RT games anymore.
Going by last time the online will proclaim 25% is actually 250% more (minimum) before the launch.Watch the 25% more become 10% less because they need to run the Win11 experience![]()
Good.
I want Sony to sweat and try.
Strong competition makes the industry prosper.
he said raster performance is 3x so at best its going to act like a 30 tflops RDNA2 card. Still garbage. PS5 was 8x after taking the IPC gains into account and 5.5x in raw tflops.True but you are missing much bigger "IPC" of RDNA5 vs. RDNA2. So it will boost this 20TF number a bit in real life.
LOL, you have tons of examples of RTgames (in multiple Game engines) that run better on XSX. In fact, there are even UE5 games (recently TOW2-Avowed) with ray-tracing hardware that run much better on XSX than on PS5.Like I said. There will clearly be a performance difference between the two, but in my opinion, the most important factor will remain the price difference. If, for example, there's a $400 difference between the two consoles, it will be very difficult for Microsoft to be competitive with the PS6.That's close to delta between GPUs that are closest to both consoles according to Kepler:

I have no idea wtf cerny is doing anymore. He should just resign. he's way past his fucking prime.
Oh and im not buying the 12x ray tracing claims. he said the pro was 4x better in ray tracing in some games and it was nonsense. it acts like a 16 tflops rdna 2 gpu.
Is hyperbole included in the same lie over and over scenario, or...?LOL, you have tons of examples of RTgames (in multiple Game engines) that run better on XSX. In fact, there are even UE5 games (recently TOW2) with ray-tracing hardware that run much better on XSX than on PS5.
It's the same old strategy: repeating the same lie over and over (PS5 being better in RT games vs XSX), trying to make people believe it's true to create a narrative.
I'm betting on $799 and $1299. Both will drop a hundred bucks post RAM crisis. So maybe...........
PS6: $700
Xbox Helix: $1,500
Yeah, but I doubt Helix/Magnus will represent that. It will be very niche with price that high.

Even if the Helix offered a greater performance advantage over the PS6, if the price is too high compared to Sony's console, it would still be a major problem.
And that's without even mentioning the fact that Xbox hardware sales worldwide have completely collapsed.
You have the DF article/video so you can draw your own conclusions.... But I suppose it's better to prejudge, right? Is hyperbole included in the same lie over and over scenario, or...?
Yeah, the word "much" is being thrown around quite liberally. You have the DF article/video so you can draw your own conclusions.... But I suppose it's better to prejudge, right?
I don't think it will be that extreme.15M capped unit PC that will sell for more than double the price of a PS6 console.
Path tracing will not be the standard next gen lol. Even 5090 can struggle to hit 60fps in path traced games, at native 4k sure but still.Main question is will path tracing will be the 'default' way to develop games on these consoles? if not there wont be much difference from current gen.

Suppose to be 25% faster huh. You know what that means, Cerny about to show up with new secret sauce.![]()
They've produced the best looking game so far this generation in HB2 so WTF are you talking about? You can have all the power you like in your little box microsoft, just fucking make sure you DO SOMETHING WITH IT this time around.
They have to do something to justify the very high cost since it'll run PC games too.Daddy Nutella needs to tell his minions that "winning" the performance race doesn't win you a generation
not to mention, they also need much more than %25 to justify a probable %50+ price difference.Xbox going to need that extra 25% to combat the Windows bloat and whatever AI trash MS shoehorns into it.

Path tracing MIGHT be standard the gen after, if we even get consoles then.
And with diminishing returns the results won't be very apparent like OG Xbox and PS2...We've been here before.
