Your reading comprehension sucksMy man, the question is will you be buying a Playstation "now", not will you be buying a Playstation 6, a hardware that's not even out yet.

A loss for consumers, a win for armchair Sony CEOs
God I feel amazing
The most plausible rationale is that with Xbox now somewhat out of competition there's finally space for growth again *within the console space*. And if you consider that Nintendo are now the only real competition in that space and they are as ever leading with their exclusives, it makes sense for Sony to match them. As if they can't offer something unique compared to what lies outside in the general PC environment, its not much of a growth driver.

it shouldnt be trailing even by a small amount seeing as how Xbox has pretty much flopped and failed to match even half of what they sold last gen, and how nintendo delayed the switch 2 for two years leading to pitiful sales giving Sony a huge opportunity to pick up disillusioned Nintendo and Xbox fans.
Im not saying they shouldve picked up all 100% of those 30 million Xbox sales or a big chunk of Ninendo switch sales after the covid bump faded, but even 25% of that gets them to hundred million. Those sales were lost to PC.
XboxWhich third party dev is going to take money to avoid a PC release?
What forum is that?Speaking of BryanK.....

I don't think it was due to those PC releases though. A lot of people did switch to PlayStation but by late 2022 (when those ports started pouring in) it was trailing by that small amount due to the hardware shortage during covid. I even believe it was the root cause of those releases. It's sad but I don't think most of those people, especially now this late would have even given PS a chance to begin with due to rivalry. A lot of them would have switched to PC or Nintendo anyway much like how a bunch of Sega fans became xbox fans by default. They probably have better data regarding people switching platforms and from where than you or me.it shouldnt be trailing even by a small amount seeing as how Xbox has pretty much flopped and failed to match even half of what they sold last gen, and how nintendo delayed the switch 2 for two years leading to pitiful sales giving Sony a huge opportunity to pick up disillusioned Nintendo and Xbox fans.

I love you think that consoles run on magical fairy dust and won't be effected at all by any of those upcoming hardware crisises. I have no doubt that shareholders will be willing to subsidise every future Playstation unit by $800-900 to keep them all reasonably priced too.
It's such a fool proof plan, ppffttt.....
What? PC gamers talk shit about Nintendo all the time. Maybe at one point they didn't care so much because they could pirate all their games with emulators but now it's over.Meanwhile Nintendo also has exclusives and doesn't release their games on PC and nobody is mad at them about it.

I'm not pissed but I built a PC for the living room once both Xbox and Playstation was on PC.Sony's only mistake was releasing the SP games on PC to begin with.
Now PC people are pissed at Sony.
Meanwhile Nintendo also has exclusives and doesn't release their games on PC and nobody is mad at them about it.
So once again I say Sony's only mistake was releasing the SP games on PC to begin with.
They should have never left the console. It's not an ideal business strategy imho to port your single play games to other platforms/consoles when your biggest goal is to sell more consoles so you can get a 30 percent cut of every game sold on them. I also am not sure if Xbox-PC having Wolverine was a wakeup call to people at Sony, but again imho it should have been. The next gen xbox will probably be way better spec wise than PS6 so why would I buy a PS6 if the Xbox PC had all the games and also steam/pc games? I wouldn't...unless.
Don't worry, he's on the caseNow Sony just needs to release a good number of quality exclusives lol
GoT to GoT DC was about 13 months. This is about the time Ghost of Yotei Director's Cut should come out, isn't it? Just like the first game?
They never used it to begin with. In any titleBecause Denuvo got cracked. There's no guarantee their games would be protected. Stupid pirates.

Problem is if you are a PC gamer (on a PC capable of playing these games) you aren't really buying it for the console; you already have comparable or superior hardware so the console itself is superfluous. You are paying a $500 (or whatever the cost is currently) unlock fee to be able to play a half a dozen exclusives you might be interested in, which once you include the cost of those games makes them expensive af on a per game basis. It's weird to be willing to spend $1500 on a graphics card but not $500 on a console.
The single player games were years old and overpriced when they released on steam, this was their failure. "Ruining your brand" is quite the stretch. Like T Three said there are other reasons for PS5 trailing the PS4. You grossly overestimate the brand damage to releasing old ports most players have already played before. It was bonus revenue as they cost buttons to port.what consumers?

That consumer base doesnt like their games. helldivers 2 is the exception because it went viral and is not the kind of game sony studios are famous for anyway.
Ruining your brand and your entire business model like MS did with Xbox was hardly good for MS's consumers. If sony hadnt adjusted, they would be facing the same exact slow death. Hell, it might even be too late. You already see capcom and other japanese devs like the FF remake team make PC the lead platform. And these guys were the last holdouts.
I made a post way back in 2020 saying how porting to PC will have a lot of unintended consequences, and i was told the profits would make up for it. Well, sony is literally closing studios left and right, laying off devs from GG, ND and Insomniac, and raising prices of their subscriptions and consoles. Clearly it didnt help. All the fanboys would use terms like ROI and show how cheap it was to make these ports, well, it didnt help save jobs and it definitely didnt help their first party output this gen which has been pitiful to say the least. As a PS consumer, this PC experiment along with their GaaS push is partly to blame for their sub standard output this gen.
Or no breakup and renegotiated the contract, not unlike MS did with Disney for Indiana Jones prior to all the unit sales failures.Plus sounds like Sony paid the break up fee to Marvel to not bring Wolv to PC
Yeah. Some people are sensative to the underlying truths presented in their entertainment, and some people aren't. It is what it is.It doesn't. The more realistic a game tries to be, the easier it is for suspension of disbelief to break. The Ghost of games go for a grounded, realistic feel (though maybe closer to the end it starts to feel more like Assassin's Creed action, idk), so in that context a male warrior is just more believable. Not everyone shares your view that if a game isn't a simulator, then anything on screen is ok.

like i said i dont expect every xbox fan to go to PS. Most obviously went to PC, but exclusives are important and as soon as HZD was ported in 2020, I called it....everything would get ported to PC. People saw the writing on the wall just like i did. You all called me chicken little and herman tried his best to lie for a good two years, but people are not dumb. If sony was willing to port horizon, days gone, and gow by 2022, everyone knew what was coming. Especially after they bought nixxes in 2021. those few years were crucial because on the PC side, the GPU shortage finally ended and i was able to pick up a 3080 in April of 2022. We dont know how many fall in the same bracket as me, but we do know that Xbox sold 30 million fewer units, PS5 sold about the same, and Nintendo switch sales had crashed 30% year on year by 2024. these guys were selling like 20 million units during the covid boom. Thats a huge chunk of users sony effectively gave up on. I dont know about you but i know several kids in my family who had their parents build them PCs instead of buying PS5. they were all getting too old for nintendo and wouldve typically moved on to consoles. i went from buying them switch games to buying them steam gift cards in a span of the last couple of years.I don't think it was due to those PC releases though.
