Good decision. Now they just need to refocus on content and reduce their dependency on decadent American studios. Find talented teams in China, Korea and Japan
This right here. My AAA gaming diet is basically just Asian games at this point. Crimson Desert, Tides of Annihilation, Onimusha, Phantom Blade Zero etc.

It just hit me that like 4 years ago Sony was in a courtroom fighting for their lives so that Microsoft wouldn't remove access to Call of Duty from their platforms after Activision was acquired.

Fast forward to today, they somehow managed to not only keep COD releasing on PS consoles, Xbox now releases everything on PS consoles and they are back at exclusives again. Basically you buy a PS5 for 400 bucks and you have access to all games in the industry except Nintendo exclusives lmao.

Out of the blue Playstation is the best choice in terms of quality / price to game. They have even been doing multiple promos on PS Plus, their 1st party games, etc lately.
 
Until two weeks ago, I was skeptical about Sony changing their strategy. Not because I thought they were right about it, but because Sony's management has been really dumb these days. But I'm glad someone in there still has a brain capable of rational thinking. PlayStation is finally healing!
 
As much as I liked seeing PS games on PC, it makes perfect sense that they'd revert if it wasn't living up to their expectations. Not keeping the games exclusive to the console makes the need or desire to own a Playstation smaller and smaller.
 
Xbox fans on ResetEra are now demanding that Microsoft cancel Fable, Horizon 6, and Halo for the PS5. Not even two months ago, the same people were preaching that exclusives were outdated.

The case with AC Shadows is different

Naoe is a shinobi in a franchise that has always blended history with supernatural elements. Assassin's Creed characters survive impossible falls, fight crazy battles, and operate like mythic figures within historical settings. Within that tone, a highly skilled female assassin doesn't feel out of place. Kassandra is a great example of this too

Gameplay wise, Naoe is also designed around stealth and precision. She's noticeably weaker in open combat, struggles against large groups, and relies on positioning and tactics unlike the main character in Yotei. This is why Yasuke is in the game, he is built to dominate direct confrontations. Having played over 100 hours, that contrast is very clear. The game mechanically reinforces their differences from the beginning

Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yōtei, however, present themselves as more grounded and historically immersive. . They go for realism, social hierarchy, and the cultural atmosphere of feudal Japan. When a game aims for this, expectations for social and historical representation make more sense. In that context, portraying a lone female samurai openly cutting down groups of male warriors raises more questions about the authenticity. Besides as a I mentioned before, when you see Sony's constant pattern for introducing female leads it raises suspicion

So my position isn't about being against female protagonists. It's about consistency with what the game is trying to do
 
I'm sad because I liked playing the games on PC because of my 32:9 montitor and the PS will never support it.
 
This needs to be an official statement. It would make the upcoming Saros release so much easier. I've stopped double dipping so if I knew for sure that a PC release won't come I could safely go in on the Pro right away.

That's my issue. I double dipped on Returnal cause I didn't have this PC at the time.
I was planning to wait on Saros until it comes to PC, but if this is true, PS5 it is.

This news coming today almost feels like it's an attempt to kill Marathon.

I don't see PC users happy about this news and rushing to buy Marathon and support Sony lol . It almost feels like Jason hates Bungie and waited for this day around the release of Marathon of PC just to try and hurt it's sales lol.
 
PC gamers were never huge fans of Sony's singleplayer experiences.
This, not just sony but action adventures in general, none of them did amazing numbers, ever. And people will cope saying that they didnt sell that well because they weren't new. Dude, i guarantee you if they released bloodborne on PC, which is older than all of those, it would outsell all of those, by quite a bit.
 
Nothing of value is lost really (aside from PlayStation Studios dignity). With the exception of Insomniac who actually competently utilized the better hardware with meaningful boost of RT usage, and in part Santa Monica with GoW 2018 new shadows, the vast majority of their cheap ports were almost all completely devoid of any major improvements at best, if not even shamelessly compromised versions of the OG versions for no reasonable explanation other than utter incompetence (or even worse intentional sabotage).
We should have seen RT implementations in all of these games, new assets, new tech.. something grand like the Nvidia additions we saw in the Arkham games, to make it worth not only for all gamers but for the games themselves, make them truly future-proof.
All we got instead were commercial flops and embarrassments for the studios.

I know some love to argue that these don't represent the games quality (which would actually make it even worse considering how bad some of these ports have been), but it's the best metric there is by far and they're all way above average.. rating comparison with Microsoft Studios, or Ubisoft, or most third parties is brutal.

You didn't prove anything, you just made my point that you're a hypocrite. Stay salty.

That's not what popular means. Look at the player numbers. By your logic a game that sold 1 copy but that person gave a good review is the most popular game on the planet.

I hear you. Its always better to play on pc because of DLSS and other graphics advantages but at the same time I have a ps5 so is not a big deal. The problem is that lately Sony hasn't released anything interesting at all,. This generation has been extremely mediocre
Yep, I am in the same boat as well. Astrobot was basically the last Sony game I bought and I don't see anything on horizon (not that Horizon!) to change that.

The thing is...Playstation is a hit in like 70 countries. If Xbox stops releasing their games on Playstation makes no sense because:

- They already optimize their stuff to PC...Xbox games will never be console exclusive again because Microsoft wants those games on PC as well...you know, the Windows maker. - Working on Playstation optimization is just like 2 pieces of hardware added to the work they do to PC. Same architecture.
- Xbox was only relevant in 2 countries: USA and UK. If they go back to not releasing games on Playstation they would be removing their franchises from like over 60 countries that don't care for their platform and never will. Weren't there rumors that Forza Horizon 5 had sold around 5M on PS consoles alone? If Sony was doing numbers like this on PC even they wouldn't give up on this.
- Xbox even after the new CEO keeps talking about "playing anywhere you want" so i doubt they will stop releasing on Playstation.
- Playstation never released anything on Xbox except for Helldivers 2 so it's not like they are backing out of Xbox anyway.

  • Cancel all future PC ports. If you want to play playstation games, buy a playstation instead of lining up Jensen and Gabe's pockets.
  • Send Herman Bust to the moon. Keeping him just because he did 180s is not enough. Phil also did 180s. You need to cull all the people at the top.
  • Send neil druckmann to Hollywood. let him torture a different audience for a while.
  • Rehire Ted price to run Sony WWS. Get Games out faster. No one does it better than Ted Price.
  • Shut down bungie or sell it to some other fool.
  • Investigate who was part of the decision to make 12 gaas games and castrate them to make sure they never reproduce again.
  • 3 Year Dev Cycles Max. Anyone who takes longer than 3 years gets their pay cut in half. That will convince them to reduce the scope on these ridiculously long games.
  • Summon Cory and find out why the fuck its taken him 7 years to make a new IP with nothing to show for it. Then fire him. Nothing is worth that long. He's no Ueda.
  • Trade Jade Raymond back to Ubisoft for rights to Prince Of Persia and a developer to be named later.
  • Have Bluepoint, Bend, and Astrobot Devs work on next gen only games set for launch in 2028. No more cross gen trash next gen.
  • Cancel PS+ Premium and Extra. Subscriptions devalue games and cost sales revenue at the backend of the game's life cycle.
  • Set game prices back to $60 and keep them there like Nintendo does. No more hitting the bargain bin after 6 months or on subscriptions. If you want to play games pay for them.
  • Have Nixxes provide direct support to any studio releasing games in the next 6 months instead of wasting time porting PC games no one wants to play.
  • Send a rescue mission to the Moon For Herman then fly him into Jupiter.
