Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

basement
somehow I've lost one of the three joint plugs, but I know I collected them all... I'm a little bit frustrated and confused. Gonna take a break.

ok be careful there is a bug and you can fuck yourself

there is a plug you left back by the second forklift... if you lock yourself out by removing the plug before it, you can't get back to the plug by the forklift... you might have to insert the two plugs at the end to cause this bug... but even if you take them back out, it won't let you put one in to go get the seconf one by the forklift

I had to find a save game, luckily, I had one or I'd be kind of fucked.

There's only 4~ places you can plug them in the basement, check whereever it looks like the lights are on.

Sorry i didn't liked him other than the amount of damage he take which was pretty funny.

But i don't like re7 and 8 that much so i'm biased.
the amount of damage he can take is cause he is dead from the beginning of RE7, but i get you, i have the same feeling for Leon.

I don't know what I did to cause the problem, but when I went back, I was able to get the second plug just fine... I had the plug and it wouldn't let me insert it back in, in the other saved game.

Either way the basement was fucking cool.

I'm also not at the end of the game yet, but I must be pretty close. I kind of Wonder though
Is that outbreak from Wrenwood ever mentioned again or it just had a zombie outbreak and the story moves on with that in the rear view mirror forever as random plot device? Lol

I personally prefer chris but i don't exactly hate leon :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

They are all kinda stereotypical good guys at the end of the day.

I doubt anyone could list 5 qualities that distinguish claire from jill or chris from leon, they are not exactly deep characters.
agreed. & we like it like that, & happily leave it to sony developers to come up with all the 'deep' characters, like ellie/abby, dad of war, & princess aloy...

Okay, so I bought the Generations Bundle from the E-shop, after learning that it'll only be around until March 31st, as well as calling around to see if I could buy it physically (a no go). I have an X-box Series X as well as a PS5, yet would rather buy Requiem on sale on Steam someday instead. So Switch 2 it is.

First impressions, all three RE games are absolutely mind blowing on the Switch 2! I can't believe my eyes sometimes at the visual fidelity not only RE7 and Village, but also Requiem is pushing out. Capcom and the RE Engine are magical. I thought the Switch 2 was doing crazy things with Cyberpunk, but this is an entirely new level.

Yeah, yeah there are dips in the FPS. I DON"T CARE. It still plays freaking amazing, and the graphics (beyond the fritzy hair) are mind bendingly amazing! If this is the first generation of Switch 2 games, I'm looking forward to years of great games on this portable. What I wish was that Capcom would just license their engine to other developers. I swear their engine + DLSS should be much more widespread. Their engine is so much more efficient and scalable than Unreal it's no contest. I wonder if even Nintendo will be able to push the system as much as Capcom has done. I'm guessing they will, but I haven't seen it yet. RE Requiem is a freaking miracle on the Switch 2.

These are terrible pics from my cell phone on a crap work monitor but is this happening to anyone else? The straps of any gun with one is doing this. It's really annoying on the PS5 Pro version of the game. Haven't seen this on PC so far.

The same thing happened to me after I upgraded a few guns. The strap on my rifle was sticking straight out the back of the stock about 4 feet. It also happened to my shotgun or machine gun. I shut down the game and restarted the Xbox and that fixed it.

Haven't encountered this yet. Funny.

I mentioned this in the open spoilers thread but, it doesn't seem that the strain of t-virus gideon uses to turn people is infectious in the same way as the normal one, the people that get attacked/bit just die instead of turning; it seems this strain is for creating controlled BOW killers (like the ones that came to kill alyssa, not massive outbreaks.
But also Leon says "Lock it down" to sherry, so the DSO probably came in to clean up.

Ah.. suppose so. What is that stated anywhere in the files of the game? I didn't remember reading anything like that. Either way seems a little strange.

It's not explicitly stated anywhere, just what I've taken from the cutscenes, these BOWs are for killing even the nurse in the care center doesn't get mindlessly bitten, the doc impales her with the chainsaw instead, and all the victims of RCS leon is investigating have no leads, that would be pretty hard, and stupid, to use highly infectious assassins and leave no trace.

Durability though. I would remove it and then it'd be fine. And killing via melee should not become tedious.

why don't you go watch a youtube run? If you're going to eliminate all friction from a SURVIVAL horror game, might as well watch some dude play.

Classic RE has always been about conserving ammo/items, optimize paths and killing only when necessary, they were trying to emulate that but with a modern take. This is not in the top 3 most difficult RE games at all and people already whining about ammo and item durability.

There's a back way to that plug. You're never locked out

c'mon Ethan is a good guy, sure he doesnt have a face, but he is far from been those silent protagonists like Dead Space Isaac in the original DS games.

Dude have balls of steel for coming to that place to look for his dead wife and he even become a better character in 8, by the end he even sacrifice himself to save his daughter, dude was the ultimate hero, all this being a fucking civilian, dude was the most human character to ever been a protagonist in a RE game and thats why i like him.
I loved Ethan personally. Dude had more personality in his first game than any of the protags their first games. RE8 sent him over the moon. People have rose tinted glasses with the older protags.

This and also you can sharpen your axe right there, it's not like it's completely breaks and you need find another one.

Goddamn i loved the extended raccoon part with Leon. Why people say it doesnt look good? I think it still looks fantastic with PT. Also the set piece after that part...

Definitely picking this up when it is cheaper. It looks spectacular and is giving me Resident Evil 5 vibes (my favorite RE).

People saying they disliked the basement, but I went into an "RE Game Design" fugue state where I knew exactly what they expected me to do at each point, and thought it was good stuff. Could definitely see it being frustrated if you couldn't immediately see what they were going for.

Game is barely a survival, once you get the first bracelet with Grace in care center you never go out of ammo and i killed everyone ( included both bosses ) in that place before proceding.

Also nothing says more survival horror than parrying a 300lbs tyrant charging at you at 80mph with a steel axe

Played on the hardcore "classic" dificult btw.

Also stop gatekeeping and let ppl play their game whatever way they want.

When I first got there I didn't think I would like it because I thought it was going to be a sewer level, but it turned out not to be that of course and I ended up enjoying it quite a bit. Little short though.

Maybe I don't want classic RE? I'd remove durability from all games if I could. Don't watch other people play games either.

Beat this last night, easily my favorite in the new trilogy. By the time I hit the Leon x RC part, I really didn't want it to end. Definitely quite a bit of fan service, but still felt very modest and sincere, especially compared to similar things we've seen in other games.

Really curious to see what they do with DLC, I hope it's substantial! The wait for the next RE after this one is already crippling, lol.

Then maybe RE games are not for you? not just RE, most survival horror game have some kind of resource management.....thats what these games all about.

Yes, you are right. As if the previous RE-protagonists were so great. Or the writing in general.

Game is barely a survival
Yep you end up swimming in Hemolytics or Handgun Bullets as Grace or you swim in ammo drops or Gunpowder as Leon and only Green Herbs and Triple Greens exist in this game. No reds or yellows. Very streamlined.

Previous entries and other games like Alien Isolation have more variety.

Beat the game twice; did the speedrun challenge the second time. On my Insanity playthrough now.

The care facility section as Grace is SO GOOD. There are so many cool little touches going on. (Very light spoilers for this section just highlighting how much I enjoy the attention to detail):

  • Enemies can enter some save rooms. It really feels like nowhere is fully safe.
[*]If you don't take care of Chunk, you constantly have to worry about him in the East Wing. Choosing whether to let him live or expend resources to kill him is great.
[*]Zombies can interact with each other and even fight each other.
[*]So much detail goes into the first section with The Girl. You can move the cart in the nurse's station super slowly and nothing falls off it of, thus not alerting The Girl.
[*]The Parlor and the antique coins are a fun upgrade system.
[*]Choosing if you want to craft max health boosts or firepower boosts feels like a meaningful choice.
[*]I love that the game brings back some of the old-school adventure game elements, like interacting with items you pick up, rotating them, looking for hidden latches, etc. I also love the new twists, like using the pencil to shade in the notepad with the symbols on it.
[*]The giant chef patrolling the West Wing is great.
[*]Worrying which zombies will turn into Blister Heads and making strategic use of the item that one-shots them is a great nod to the classic Crimson Heads.
    [*]

A lot of these things feel like meaningful evolutions of classic Resident Evil. It's obvious a lot of love and care went into it, and I can see myself replaying this section a lot over the years.

I can only describe the second half of the game as a poor man's attempt at recreating RE4, but without the level design, visuals, enemy design, enemy variety, or interesting character progression to back it up. I wonder if this is really what the team wanted to do, or if the first half of the game just took too much time and too many resources to replicate across the back half.

To be fair, I think Chunk was completely unthreathening. He barely bothered mewas easy to avoid and I ran into him twice out so (with Grace). All I had to do was let him pass and that was it.

I ran into him in a hallway on my first play through. Tried to turn around and run, but there was a horde of zombies blocking my retreat. He ate me while I was trying to clear a path through them. It was awesome.

Yep, and some here are treating the game as send by god itself, the "best RE game after the classics" what a joke.

Dont get me wrong, is a good game but is barely a RE at this point, imagine been up there with the clasics.

Yeah I didn't think he was too much trouble. They kind of limited him to what walls he can break through. What would've been better is to have some dynamic ai that he can break through other walls but not always do it. Would also be hilarious if he fell through the ceiling down where you are.

I had mixed feelings about the game after my first play through. After 2 more play through's i think it's an excellent game. Incredible atmosphere and some insanely tense moments. I'm hoping Capcom puts out DLC sooner than later cuz I'll be getting it day one.

My point is you can't blame RE game for playing like a RE game.
This is my first RE. I'm just sharing what I liked and would like going forward. If RE games keep more of Grace like gameplay, then I'd come back for more, otherwise plenty of other games to play.

A game for everyone is either really fucking expensive to make or a game for no one.
Not the point, if dude want to use cheat to enjoy his $70 game let him do it, dont come saying that the game is not for him just cause he dont wanna play the "hardcore way".
