Crimson Desert be looking good AF - huge open world single player RPG PS5/PC/Xbox

How does the combat feel in that game when compared to Dragon's Dogma? I mean stuff like hit-stop, camera shakes, enemy stagger animations, sound design and so on.
Looks cool but everything always felt like it lacked impact. Kinda felt like once you hit enemies they started having this move through water effect. Didn't sit right with me. All style no substance.

Like it looks good but over time feels boring and doesn't FEEL good like Dogma combat does. It's kind of hard to describe. It's more of a experience and you either love it or hate it.

The game was meant to be an mmo so expect to be grinding the hell out of boring fetchquest and feeling lonely af doing it.
Used to be like 6 years ago. I recommend watching the interview i linked today. There are not even player leveling in this game

I saw the page and i saw people calling out the concern trolling. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Regardless. I think the story/narrative will be subpar as well as the performance.

con·cern trol·ling
the action or practice of disingenuously expressing concern about an issue in order to undermine or derail genuine discussion.

Being concerned or cautious to see if a game that seems to promise the moon is gonna stick the landing when all we know from them before is MMO and no single player games is not concern trolling.

Waiting on reviews or impressions to see if its really as GOOD as IT LOOKS, would not be insincere/dishonest/pretending to be naive/ignorant to change the narrative around this game. Posting as a way that its designed to mislead. Far as I see for multiple pages, peoples just want this to be good, they're just not ready to call it GOAT with what we have.

Always possible the combat is better...BUT if it's hitting the same notes as Black Desert and too much dodge and flash step then it'll be a sad time.

This game visually and aesthetically really, REALLY unappealing to me….i just can't seem to get excited about this game.

I'm sure this game is gonna good reviews and most people going to like this game but it's just not for me.

This is so wrong you should be slapped in real life. They pivoted away from an MMO like 7 years ago.

As someone who played BDO, I think the combat is a little bit like Dynasty Warriors, there are a lot of trash mobs that you basically one shot, and you have to kill of hundreds of them. Hopefully this game, not being an MMO, doesn't do that.

Saw this earlier today. He made the game sound appealing.

He might be fluffing it up, I'm not sure, but he talks about it being a return to a high fantasy style RPG that we haven't seen in a long while.

I've noticed they have been specifically using boss tier enemies for combat footage so I'm not sold on it.
No ? There's plenty of footage with basic enemies…
I mean before talking go watch some videos about the game.
50 minutes gameplay demo in 2024, Gamescom 2025 and TGS 2025 footage… they all show a lot of various basic enemies.
Even the last features videos show it.

You'd have to be blind to not have seen them.

It's funny how all of these game trailers always show the game without the HUD, no map markers anywhere, just a guy exploring the world. And then you boot up the game and it's map markers plastered everywhere, absolutely everything in the world already spoiled. "There's the shrine in the valley, on your right is the enemy camp, below you is a dungeon, and there's a chest to your left".

Expressing doubts is legit. The game might be shit, we don't know yet. My main concern is combat, which is a deal breaker for me, and I won't make any assumption until Pearl Abyss publishes a demo so I can try it first hand.

However, Saying straight up lies is concern trolling. In this and every other game thread you have people making claims on things that lot of videos and people's feedback have proven inaccurate.

I looked at the first 2 pages before you commented on concern trolling, it's basically peoples saying it looks too good to be true, peoples doubting the lore/story will be there, a guy saying the graphics will downgrade and that's pretty much it? A lot of "keeping an eye on this".

I just don't see how you saw those 2 pages and went with concern trolling. Could perhaps someone have claimed something he didn't know about? I don't even spot "that" lie so I'm probably ignorant on the origin of the game or a feature, but then why not correct him, simple as that.

My main concern for this game is the story and VA. It'll probably be ass, but I don't care. I feel the open world and the combat could be what I wanted from Dragon Dogma 2, which I felt was disappointing, so I'm rooting for Crimson Desert. Open world for me requires good game mechanics above all else.

The graphics don't impressive me as much. It looks like it has a ReShade/ENB post-processing filter applied to it with the hard shadows, high contrast, and over sharpening that ppl like to use, but it looks too harsh.

It seems way too good to be true, but here's hoping... I wasn't aware these guys are 1400 developers, but I guess that explains the massive scope and detail.

About 200 developers are working on the game.
Note: The new engine was developed in parallel with the game.

Total employees:

Watched some more videos. This game's graphics has "I think at least two people died making this" energy.

Seems like a perfect game to flex a big GPU with, the PC graphics bros are going to love this I think.

I played it at TGS, i play Black Desert often. Its def not BDO combat..its way better... closer to Zelda
...but its got those flashy over the top flips and dives, but they are power moves, they are acrobatic moves. I found myself blocking and swinging with the occasional throw and flip.

Same for me. Don't know why but I get the same vibes when I look at AI images of something I should like. A medieval fantasy is right up my alley, but it just doesn't do it for me, for some reason.

Basically where I'm at. It's hard for me to watch footage of the game without thinking it doesn't have some kind of wild personality disorder. I feel like it has no clue what it wants to be while trying to be a bit of everything.

Do you people have these problems with stuff like the final fantasy or many japanese games that mix robots, steampunk medieval, magic etc.?

Uh, I can't speak on behalf of everyone, but for me I think it's because the footage I initially saw contained zero futuristic aesthetic. Everything looked/felt more medieval. So, it kind of gave me an expectation. Then seeing stuff way later in development and seeing mechs and all this other stuff was pretty jarring, lol.

Kind of how the first Assassin's Creed looked like a period piece, then later I saw that it was just a digital world and there was this Matrix influence about it. I was like wtf?

Would you be ok with that if the lore has a good explanation for it?

Of course! There are plenty of games that blend those kind of things that I'm more than okay with. Just for me personally it felt odd to see nothing of the sort, and then suddenly see a WHOLE lot of it the next time I saw it, lol.

You probably saw a very early trailer because they have been showing the mechs and tech stuff for a while.

Very likely! I wasn't super hyped, but I was still curious nonetheless. I just must've somehow dodged a lot of it, and then suddenly got a massive helping, lol.

Zelda and Elden Ring are missing all that too.

That's actually not a bad argument.

Zelda I play for the great game world, well especially the old ones like OOT, MM, the vibe/atmosphere, the story (OOT, MM, but BotW not so much) and games like Elden Ring for challenge, the feeling you get when you finally overcome that challenge, exploring the world, etc. Cant comment on Elden Ring, ever only played the network test.

So if CD nails all those......

I just hope the "DNA" of a MMORPG won't be too noticeable.

The most exciting for me is, if i understood correctly, they'll have fog of war amiss Elden Ring, meaning the map will expand as you explore. You wont see it all at the begining.

Only one city is big on tech so you are probably not gonna see any mech or robotic enemy until you reach that city.
