Nintendo General Direct coming Feb 2026 with the next 3D Mario

Just like they did last year. A partner and two weeks later a general.

I said the partner was basically just a RE9 direct and they had to highlight it.

Back on topic: I'll until there are more leakers backing the claim. A new 3D Mario announcement feels too soon after DKB.
 
It's clear that Nintendo Is rotating these general Directs and Partner Showcases if you look at their programming ever since 2023:

September 14, 2023 - Nintendo Direct
February 21, 2024 - Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase
June 18, 2024 - Nintendo Direct
August 27, 2024 - Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase
March 27, 2025 - Nintendo Direct
July 31, 2025 - Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase
September 12, 2025 - Nintendo Direct
February 5, 2026 - Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase
 
I think we expect too much from these Nintendo Directs. I am as guilty as anyone.

In my mind, it should be easy for Nintendo to put out great Partner Showcases and General Nintendo Directs.

Yet, Nintendo seems unable to do this.

This generation of Nintendo management feels "off", and I do not think they think the same way their consumers do.

THEREFORE, until Nintendo proves it can deliver good games or expected "3rd party ports", my attitude will now be "MEH". Until they prove me wrong.

Maybe it's the games? I think most people are also disappointed with MS/Sony's Directs here too.

Maybe we expect too much. Though a 3D Mario reveal as a battle royal will be cool.

It could be true, but it's NashWeedle, and his track record doesn't exactly inspire confidence. I'll believe it when Nintendo announces it.
 
Im dreaming of the Bowsers Fury succesor. Please be open world mario that slowly unfurls with sick as hubs you find along the way.

I agree that Sony and MS have even more problems than Nintendo with their "Directs".

It was telling though that Nintendo disabled "Like / Dislike" option on YouTube after the Partner Direct in NA. Japan's still has that as an option.

So, until Nintendo/MS/Sony show they understand their consumers, I am personally lowering my expectations.

They are all capable of making amazing products. But, feels like something has shifted since Covid and all of them can not get out of their own way, or are trying to push products that do not align with consumer "wants".

At some point they need to share a lineup of first party games for the fiscal year starting in April. And right now I don't think that anything has been announced. So clearly, I think there well be a direct before the end of March.

I personally have always believed Nate is a "plant" and works with some form of "gaming" advertising as as way of "softening the ground" before announcements. They give him some stuff and he reports it, and guesses on others.

Nate seems like a nice guy and all. But clearly, he is "in" with these companies in some way.

It is funny how Nate have never gotten in trouble with Nintendo and other companie's "Ninja's"?!

If you or I did what Nate has done, we would have these companies attorneys (Ninjas) all after us.

I am continually amazed no one ever picks up on this.

When it does happen I hope we some get info on Monolith Soft's new game and Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave.
 
Yeah makes a lot of sense.

Good move by Nintendo to have a seperate 3rd party direct first, so the attention is not just on Nintendo titles in a direct.
 
Basically every Nintendo console had a mainline Mario release in the first 2 years. It makes sense we'll get one this year.

Maybe, but Odyssey released in 2017 so the next 3D Mario has certainly been in production for a while. I figure Bananza was born of one of those production prototypes and the destructibility just didn't fit as well Mario as it did with Monkey Kong.

I don't think there will be another direct in February.

They're not going to run a first party direct and a Pokemon direct in the same month. Especially as this Pokemon direct is going to be a Gen 10 reveal, one of the big tent pole games Nintendo have this year.

As nial nial said above, the next big Nintendo direct would be June. That's where you'll see the next 3D Mario.

Has it? I suspect whatever team worked on Odyssey has been working on Bananza all this time.

? They already have Tomodachi Life, Yoshi, Rhythm Heaven and FE, and Pokémon is going to be announced at the next Presents direct this month.

Can't say I find this lineup exciting, and this is supposing everything gets released this year.

He's saying that EAD Tokyo (or whatever the team is called now) just finished work on DK Bananza, so it's presumably several years until their next game. Could be handled by a different team though.

Yes that is what I'm saying. I suspose it's possible that there are multiple teams for 3D Mario. Did the same team that worked on 3D World also work on Odyssey? If not then I guess it's possible that team was working on something else besides Bananza?

I hope this changes as soon as possible, because Nintendo announces games very sporadically and almost always right before they launch, making the platform's future very unpredictable.

In fact, only having four game announcements over a nearly three-year period is far too few. To make matters worse, after a Direct is over, they go into radio silence for months, which sparks endless rumors and uncertainty.

No, I'm not saying they should announce games five years in advance or repeat the Metroid Prime 4 scenario, but announcing something 12 to 18 months ahead of time is perfectly normal and acceptable.
