No idea why people like Double Fine. One of the most overrated studios out there.
Likely different levels of multiplayer. It's not meant to be a live service game. Could be like 2-4 player local co-op plus ability to play online vs others. Kinda like the fighting games that are playable online can still be played locally after the multiplayer population dwindles. Could be fun for few rounds with family or kids like part of the rotation for game nights.Mechanically it looks good, but with multiplayer games you need to go for concepts with broad appeal.
Don't think many people will play this, which is not good for a multiplayer title.
I guess this looks like something....Probably again be gone like fart in the wind like Keeper. I don't understand what Microsoft is doing.
It's one of the great mysteries of gaming to me as well. Same goes for Tim Schafer in general. I've tried a bunch of his games and never found anything worth my time.No idea why people like Double Fine. One of the most overrated studios out there.
at least DF is releasing games unlike Media MoleculeI guess this looks like something....Probably again be gone like fart in the wind like Keeper. I don't understand what Microsoft is doing.
At least we got Hellblade 3 coming...another fart.
Yeah, but I just don't understand Microsoft strategy here. Their games are not doing well, but outside of a few. I'm all for letting a studio do what they want, but at some point you got to do some actual managing of studios. Nobody cared about Avowed or Outer Worlds 2 and they have Fallout doing nothing instead. They have double fine make this and we can all tell this won't do well either. At some point you have to look at the ips you have and start doing something with the ones that will be successful.I can't wait to see people flood X with pictures of their cock and ass pottery

I've got plenty of joy personally, video games is my main hobby/joy. That being said, sometimes a game isn't meant for me. I will always appreciate Double Fine for their creativity and willingness to try something new, and I'll try the game at launch. However, it doesn't feel like it's a game meant for me.Y'all are a bunch of people with no joy in your life. This game looks like good, dumb fun.
Can't wait to have a few friends over with some beers and play this for a weekend, make some dumb dick-pots, and then probably never touch it again. But it'll no doubt be a blast.
It needs to be another narrative driven, over-the-shoulder, third-person action game or else it's not worth it.Y'all are a bunch of people with no joy in your life. This game looks like good, dumb fun.

I wonder if Double Fine or Media Molecule get shut down first.
Someone should put it up on one of those betting sites.
The thing with a game like Keeper is that at least they can make some money from it over time as it goes on sales, bundles, etc. It's a single player game so it will always be playable.
This game though, after 3 weeks when it no longer has an active community it will literally be worthless.
Double Fine isn't going anywhere, they are cheap, and provide permanent weird family content for Gamepass. They have at least one more game to reveal after this.I think it will be Double Fine but will be a situation like Tango Game Works where someone else like Devolver picks them up.
Same, Tim Schafer writes awesome dialogue, a new Point and Click Adventure would be bliss.I'm really Disappointed!!!
I personally hoped Double Fine would make a new Point and Click Adventure Game :'(
We already had that game though (sans the pots). This game will just be about pots that look like penises fighting each other.
Never played Psychonauts 1 and/or 2?No idea why people like Double Fine. One of the most overrated studios out there.

Double Fine will have released 4 games within 5 years, Psychonauts 2, Keeper, Kiln, and 1 more. what has Media Molecule released?
I'd argue Dreams could have been great. Just that it needed a) PC support, if not immediately then sooner than later, and b) PSVR 2 support. But who knows what they're on about when it comes to b). There has still been no update to WipEout Omega Collection, which seems like such an obvious fit (and already had PSVR original support). Maybe MM just has some juicy footage of Sony execs, who knows.but it also seems like MM is a prestige studio for Sony since their last impactful game was Little Big Planet and that released on the PS3 so it isn't like Sony's had ample time to drop the axe

If you look at DF's library of games on Wiki, most are forgettable. And I bet many of the games nobody has even heard of before. But the studio needs a deep pockets corporation to keep their ideas afloat.Yeah, but I just don't understand Microsoft strategy here. Their games are not doing well, but outside of a few. On June 9, 2019, during Microsoft's press conference at E3 2019, it was announced that Double Fine had been acquired by the company and was becoming part of Xbox Game Studios.[11] According to Schafer, through the acquisition, Double Fine would be able to retain its independent nature but would not have to struggle with finding publishers for its games, a problem it has had in its past.[12] Schafer spoke to Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass, a games subscription service for Microsoft Windows and Xbox users, as one favorable aspect of the acquisition. Schafer felt many of Double Fine's games, particularly Psychonauts and its sequel, do not have an aesthetic that people would necessarily pay the full price for, but the subscription approach of Game Pass lowers that barrier and would potentially get more people to try the game. Thus, Schafer felt that being acquired by Microsoft would allow the studio to continue to develop experimental games and allow these projects greater exposure.[13] A month ahead of the release of Psychonauts 2, in July 2021, Schafer stated he was happy with Microsoft's handling of Double Fine; he called the acquisition a "limited integration" with Double Fine retaining all control on the creative elements while leaving the financial issues up to Microsoft to manage, and left the studio able to focus their creative skills on finishing the game without feeling any budgetary crunch.[14] Double Fine and 2 Player Productions released PsychOdyssey, a 22 hour documentary on the making of Psychonauts 2 in February 2023.[15]
I think "monetize" is the keyword here. Sure, there are creativity tools available for free. You can make your own pedobear cave in Roblox if you're so inclined. But maybe a paid entry fee could have sorted out the trash. Ehh, who knows. That ship has already sailed. I still do want my WipEout in PSVR 2 though, goddammit Sony. And if you release something like Dreams on PC, there is a ton of competition for creativity tools and using other tools would most likely be easier to monetize.
Agreed. Tim Schafer is obviously making a game. They have at least one more game to reveal after this
