when it comes to GPUs. i dont think it will affect much. if I have to guess, maybe 50$ to 100$ depending on the ram configuration?
I am pretty sure AIBs are making tons of money on 5090 to worry about the vram price increase there.
The only thing I know is I am not upgrading anything anymore for 2 to 3 years to come. Depending on when prices go back to normal.
You know, the Titan used to be "normal" as Nvidia's best card and it was around 1.000 bucks…when it comes to GPUs. i dont think it will affect much. if I have to guess, maybe 50$ to 100$ depending on the ram configuration?

He is right about the price increases. 16GB cards will go up about $100, maybe a bit less. 8-12GB cards would be $50 or so. Well, assuming the DRAM situation doesn't get worse.Bro.
Itll absolutely affect GPUs especially the 16GB units.
5060Ti is no longer gonna be affordable, calling it entry level will be kinda insulting as the entry price will no be realistic.
The 5070 will be priced like a 5080.
The 5080 will be fuck you money.
I never even look at xx90s cuz people who want xx90s will buy them at whatever price.
AIBs are not gonna eat the increased cost of RAM and without Nvidia enforcing pricing they will increase the prices for sure and pretty substantially for everything under the 5090.

So certainly not great, but not the disaster that the memory market is currently (which more has got to do with greedy retailers and panic buyers than just the DRAM going up.) Consoles will likely face the 50-100 increase as well, as they all face problems with GDDR pricing.
It's about a 60% price increase on GDDR right now. Roughly around 25-30 dollars in the underlying bit cost for 16GB cards. So, $100 is hardly conservative. The 5070 will probably go from $520-$550 it is now to $580-$610.Thats near literally a class up of GPU in pricing.....and you are even being conservative in your predictions.
Thats not exactly nothing to snuff off.
Teh 16GB cards are gonna get bad, so the 5060Ti will be not a good deal anymore.
The 5070Ti will be almost exactly 5080 money and the 5080 itself will go back to the price people never wanted to pay for a 4080 in the first place.
Is it the same as the DDR5 pricehike no, those are ridiculous, but its still gonna be something that forces....or atleast incentivizes people to go down a class of GPU.
The 16GB versions of the RTX 5060 Ti and RX 9600 XT may already be hard to get
Dospara Akihabara Main Store said, "Memory prices are still rising sharply. Still, we have secured some stock, so for now we think we can avoid situations where customers come all the way here only to find they can't assemble a complete machine."
Meanwhile, some stores are starting to see empty spaces on graphics card shelves. Compared with memory and storage, GPU price increases are less obvious, but one store viewed it strictly, saying, "It's a difference in turnover, and it's only a matter of time."

I am tempted to buy that 9070XT as a backup card and to mess around with a Linux build….All of this makes sense. If you live near an MC, RIGHT NOW is the time to get a new GPU.

PowerColor AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Reaper Triple Fan 16GB GDDR6 PCIe 5.0 Graphics Card - Micro Center
Get it now! The PowerColor Reaper Series is built for gamers who demand reliable performance and unwavering endurance. With its sturdy cooling architecture and precision engineering, the Reaper is designed to handle the rigors of intense gaming sessions without compromise.www.microcenter.com
This is a KILLER good deal for a 9070 XT, will work in a SFF case and is easily the best bang for buck.
Here is a small form factor 5070 Ti from Zotac, which is the same model I am running in my home theater living room PC for $719. nvidia GPUs pretty much never are found under MSRP.

If you're looking for bang for buck GPUs. There you go. If you don't live near an MC, then I feel bad for you.
Between those two, if your budget allow for it, I'd say go for the 5070 Ti, as DLSS4 holds a slight (and I do mean slight) upscaling advantage over FSR4. Anyone telling you otherwise hasn't used FSR4. Unfortunately, FSR4 support without Optiscaler hacks is rather low compared to DLSS. Any game that uses DLSS can use DLSS4 with a .dll replacement. DLSS Swapper makes that switch so incredible easy.
Unfortunately, the one area that AMD Is still a disappointment is ray tracing is still a full tier below what nvidia is offering. FSR Redstone failed to make a meaningful impression. I've had good experiences with AMD framegen, but most people call it inferior to nvidia.
Despite all of that if your budget is tight, then the 9070 XT is a killer good GPU. FSR4 really is amazing. They just need to improve Redstone.
Sick bastard. I have a 3090 sitting clean in the antistatic cover and inside the original box. I also got ahold of a 4080 for dirt cheap (250 bucks on offer up and it works fine, barely used) That and a 3070TI that was an RMA and barely even used. The RMA was due to coil whine. The replacement was a brand new card. I'm waiting for an opportunity. Normally, I don't do these kinds of things, but I want to make a fast buck and hopefully not take too much advantage of the situation.Thinking of buying another 5090 and selling my other for a nice fat profit!!!
Yep. I want another 9070 XT just to sell later.I am tempted to buy that 9070XT as a backup card and to mess around with a Linux build….
Both of these cards are as good as it's going to get for next couple years, IMO.
Why not consider a 7900XT that can be had for under $500 plus it comes with 20GB.Gonna get a 5060 TI 16 bit for work PC quickly, before the hike.
And will treat ny 5090's with serious care!

It could be more, depends on what, if any, future price hikes occur. Or what actions Nvidia or the AIBs decide to take.
It's going to suck, certainly, but GPU pricing probably won't get anywhere near how bad it was in 2021. Now memory kits and everything else on the other hand…
Thinking of buying another 5090 and selling my other for a nice fat profit!!!
Yeah, the 7900XT would work, but they're not available around here anymore. The 5060 TI works fine as a card for the work PC, and is easily available still. Why not consider a 7900XT that can be had for under $500 plus it comes with 20GB.
I just cringe when I see people considering a 5060 Ti 16GB. There are just so many better options and better bang for the buck.
This was the first time I bought a GPU outside of Nvidia/VoodooThe main thing about this article is that AIBs arent beholden to Nvidia anymore on pricing.
Thats whats concerning, they arent gonna eat the cost and have no reason to respect Nvidias guidelines as....atleast I think so all non-OCs are sold and Nvidia has released AIBs to price as they see fit now.
They have no reason to eat the costs and can easily justify the increases by saying its due to the general RAM price hikes.
Im usually alittle more optimistic about these kinda things but this one feels worse than the CryptoBoom.........cuz companies are completely changing their business strategies.......the CryptoBoom it was still possible to find large(10 or more) quantities of GPUs at near MSRP.
Right now finding RAM at OG MSRP is near impossible.

What do you do with your old xx80Ti/xx90s generally.
Im thinking of buying an older range topper if you still have them and are willing to part with them.
Im an xx70 user generally.

If you can find a 5060 Ti 16GB at $399 like this one, then I guess I can see that as worth it.Yeah, the 7900XT would work, but they're not available around here anymore. The 5060 TI works fine as a card for the work PC, and is easily available still.
Woudn't consider it for my gaming rigs.
Wasn't there the exact same rumor about a month ago? How did that pan out?
Wasn't there the exact same rumor about a month ago? How did that pan out?
And PC gaming value gets hit yet again. Good prices on the Microcenter GPUs posted, but I wish I was living in a world where, a year after launch, we see prices below MSRP for the entire range of cards and not just low tier.
Microcenter is very conservative about their expansion which makes sense considering retail downturn overall vs buying online.I wish I had a microcenter near me. Really big population city and getting more and more tech companies, but microcenter just refuses to put a shop here.
I never knew a card like the 7900XT existed lol. Looks great though especially at under 500 dollars. This power and price ratio is probably the closest to a fair timeline where the vram increases while being at a decent price like the 1070 8gb 9 years ago and the 3060 12gb 4.5 years ago.Why not consider a 7900XT that can be had for under $500 plus it comes with 20GB.

Not true. People didn't buy Titan cards as a video game specific card. Sure some people bought it but not as much or even close to how many people bought the 4090 and 5090.You know, the Titan used to be "normal" as Nvidia's best card and it was around 1.000 bucks…
GPU MSRPs are usually set accounting for a possibility of such memory price fluctuations. Bulk memory purchases which AIBs are doing aren't affected by "prices of memory chips" as much as you think (and prices of memory chips aren't affected at all at the moment; the only part which is are the consumer sales of DIY products where everyone and their grandmother are packing a bank on panicking idiots).Even without rumors you can be certain that it will happen because prices of memory chips are going up. Buy now or cry later.

What you just said isn't just true, it somehow makes it even worse. Meaning, the cards are not only massively more expensive now, but they also sell better. So there is no real indication that'll change following another price hike. Not true. People didn't buy Titan cards as a video game specific card. And I was talking about the ram / vram prices. Nvidia being Nvidia is nothing new. Regardless if ram was expensive or dirt cheap .

How I'll look when regular pricing comes back
But this is true. even if you to check videos on youtube back in these days. the talk about cards like 1080ti and stuff. nothing about titan or titan xp outside of some random people here and there that wanted the best the money can buy.the cards are not only massively more expensive now, but they also sell better. So there is no real indication that'll change following another price hike.
But anyway.... See you in 2-3 years when the 6090/7090 costs 5 grand and another calamity causes further price hikes and people says they'll wait until everything goes back to normal (normal being 5 grand).

Finally no one can afford a ram SSD or gpu. Welcome to AI revolution.
