BoA believes Apple will sell 1.5m Vision Pros year one even at $3499. Expects it to sell game console volume levels.

(starting at 2:20)

"Bank of America: "Adoption will take time."

"The price tag of $3,499 was higher than the $3K broadly speculated. While we believe MR has the potential to drive Services revenues higher via a new set of premium Apps the adoption will take time... In our prior analysis we had estimated 1.5 million units to be sold in the first full year, and the launch today did not change our view. We continue to expect at least some subsequent versions of Vision Pro to be priced lower in order to appeal to a larger customer set," Bank of America's Wasmi Mohan said." https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news

I was going to make a bet saying I'd eat an Apple hat live if they managed to sell over 1.5m at $3499, but then I started to realize that I might be greatly underestimating the energy of Apples base and this might not be as ridiculous as it sounds.

But that ends there, because there's no way this is selling game console volumes overtime, that's a minimum of 50 or 60 million. Ain't no way Jose.

As someone who has tried making vr workstations work, I really believe that their tech works. Should have been more ”vr mac” instead of ”ipad apps”.

No way people in general will pay that much.

I know some corp solutions looking at serious investments of ms kits that could consider these.

Of course it will sell tons, not like the price is unreachable and the product is just so attractive, it's the new thing from Apple we're talking here.

This is a good piece of hardware that wants to replace several other devices you use. It might do so in the future. They have to start somewhere. They usually start expensive, until they become mainstream many years later.

If it was literally any other brand I'd say this is DOA.

But with it being Apple I can actually see it happening.
Not only rich people and businesses but I could see "regular" people going into debt to get one of these.

I wonder if they hardcore sandbagged expectations by seeding the word of under a million expected a year, so anything over it looks like a success

This is the start of a plan to be as or more relevant in 10 years tough, and reactions to it are only thinking about this year.

Yep and it’s called vision ‘pro’ I’m sure there will be cheaper version with out the pro tag. Let the early adopters work out all the kinks.

LOL, 1.5 million, good luck! I don't think they understand how small this market is. 90% of the public isn't interested in VR. That leaves you with 10%.
Of this 10%, 90% of them are interested in VR gaming, 10% as a replacement computer. That leaves you with about 1%. Of that 1%, only a small portion is going to pay that amount.
Apple is drastically overestimating the appeal of VR if they really think they will sell that many at that price. If I'm wrong I will gladly eat an apple pie even though ducks are allergic to apples.

I'm curious why people want this to fail so bad? The tech is incredible and Apple is relentless in clearing difficult hurdles like privacy and politicians looking to preemptively ban technology like they did with Google Glass.

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
Its Apple. Iw will sell. Been saying it since the second it was announced.

This is not Google or Microsoft with some shit ass product they send out to die.

Its going to be a quality product. And it will have the most recognizable tech brand on earth pushing it.

I don't think this is going to sell beyond the hardcore Apple faithful.

It's a $3.5k toy in a recession, most of its unique features sound unwittingly creepy (front facing screen for "eyes", uncanny-valley Facetime avatars, etc) and well built as it sounds its apparently quite heavy, and its standard battery life is insufficient to last the length of a movie.

Yeah, regular Vision or Vision One or whatever they call it, even at half the cost, could sell 10x more

This isn't for everyone (certainly not me for 5500 CAD after tax if they even sold it here), but they see that they need to be in this space for years in the future

I have no problem with expensive high end products. They should exist, just like cheap knockoffs for $100.

But Apple is fucking crazy for charging $3500 for this, and BoA is even more crazy for estimating those sell-through numbers.

I actually want it to succeed, but at not at that price point.

The iPhone was legitimately revolutionary. But since then, Apple's success has confounded me. My gut says that this will be a big failure, but my gut has always been wrong about Apple.

This thing is going to sell more than the Nintendo Switch, isn't it?

If they do that, then there is no cure to their fanbase.

3.5k for a headset VR is insane. and its not going look good for future VR prices.

Hope this shit fails badly.

Isn't it more augmented reality than it is VR? I hope Google Glass 2.0 really comes out the gate swinging, there has to be something less insane than this.

BIG EDIT: LOL what the fuck Google, you reintroduced and killed off Glass 2.0 faster than the original.

They just announced a pro desktop that starts at $7k as well. Do you want that to fail as well?
I literally just said I don't want the Vision Pro to fail. I just don't want to pay $3500 for it. I don't know how you can fuck that up, but congrats, you did it.

Also, the Mac Pro is a completely different thing and is more for professionals / businesses. Is it expensive? Yes, but it's also for a completely different subset of people.

The Vision Pro is just a hobbyists device at the present. There's no real practical use case for it other than it being a means to use it as a computer replacement. So, if you're going to replace it with your laptop and/or PC/Mac, then maybe I can see spending on it. I just don't see it happening. I spent $3500 on a gaming laptop and I use that all the time. I don't see myself using the Vision Pro that much for $3500, especially with that utter garbage battery-life.

That's a bunch of BS. Ducks can actually eat apples as long as you remove the core. Apples are great for ducks, so it's not much of a bet. This is what they mean by people spreading misinformation online. Quite frankly for a novelty account I'm quite disappointed.

Also, there is a lot of people that don't like Apple because it's a premium brand that people (sometimes) use to show their status. Like Canada Goose, Goochi, Versake, Chantel, RollX, etc.
Personally I am excited about any company that moves the envelope on new tech. In this case they will really have to convince people that putting a headset on your face is how you want to spend your time at home/work. We have to remember that 3D TVs died for a reason.
If you gave me one of these for free I would play around with it for like a week and then sell it. Or rather, I would probably just sell it because you can go into an Apple store to try it (I suppose).
I remember I tried PSVR and Oculus at some point, the novelty wore off after 10 minutes, the alternative is already good enough. Perhaps there will be a paradigm shift with this product, who knows.
And yes, Apple fans will buy this. Have you met Apple fans? I don't understand it. The only time I bought an Apple product was the Macbook 2013 when it was actually competitive in price and features, but I literally found it inferior to windows in every way after using it for 2-3 years.
My Pixel 7 pro runs circle's around my wife's iPhone 14 Pro Max - the main attraction of smart phones is for them to be smart, and Siri is an idiot. Google speech to text and software just dunks all over it (not to mention the better camera zoom, which is the newest gimmick, granted I like it).

I have a lot of respect for Apple because they have enormous resources to invest and they hire the best talent. Though my understanding is that most people leave after a couple of years as the work environment is quite rough.

Sorry, when I read I want it to succeed but not at that price point I read it as I want it to fail. I get your point and thanks for explaining.

I honestly think that Apple will start justifying the price and the use cases this fall. As I said in another thread I expect the iPhone pro max level model to have 3D content capture in its cameras. Pair that with 3D editing enabled version of Final Cut on the Vision Pro and you'll have your first use case. Same one that gets hobbyist photographers and filmmakers spending thousands on color perfect monitors and pro level workstations.

And then they'll probably get some composer or Grammy award winning musician showing how they can visualize their music making using the vision pro and some next gen version of Logic Pro.

I'm not worried about them clearing a million devices if they land anything close to that.

Well, I bet lots (well, some) of commercial u it’s will move. Not too many to random people though.

The specs are pretty crazy.

I would be surprised if it sold 100k. But I will be wrong and it will sell a lot more. They are the best marketing company in the planet.

They are the best marketing company and they have millions of sycophantic fans who praise everything they do and wait in line for days for new products that they already have preordered. In other words they are exploiting people with issues.

If they'd achieved to put that technology into this kind of form factor, basically sunglasses, maybe.
