I really think they will get this deal down, but I also think ms will strongarm more and more pubs buyouts. Sony won't vanish but it will come niche eventually. I hope the people cheerleading for these acquisitions will still like the industry in 1 or 2 decades. Iam sure it wont be for me anymore.
Hopefully it doesn't come to that. Regulators either need to kill the deal or make it such a pain in the ass Microsoft takes a long break ( if not permanent) from trying to monopolize the industry.

I hope so but they have decades of history to get this deals done even if it will absolutely harm competition. I absolutely expect ms next buyout announced a year after avb closed at the latest.

This deal is going through .

The rest of your take is wrong.

I mean number 3 is in direct correlation to number 2 and thats my speculation sure but after buying two pubs in two years it wouldn't be hard to believe they are going for more. But if you know exactly that ms wont than I stand corrected.

Microsoft said themselves they weren't done buying publishers and devs ( in one of their brilliant moments of not being able to keep their mouths shut for five seconds).

Of course they will. Anyone running ms would do the same as long as politics won't stop it.

Microsoft confirms that Sony has blocked these 4 games from hitting Xbox forever

  • Microsoft is wrestling with three major regulators over its attempt to acquire Activision Blizzard.
  • As part of the proceedings, Microsoft has revealed that Sony has set up "exclusion" deals for third-party games on PlayStation.
  • It seems that Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Final Fantasy 16, and Silent Hill 2 Remake will never hit Xbox, despite the associated publishers' silence on the matter.
  • Microsoft also listed From Software's Bloodborne as an example of a third-party developed game that has been blocked from non-PlayStation platforms, which could imply that the oft-requested Windows PC port is out of the question too. Sony has been friendlier towards PC in recent years, though, so I'm keeping the hopium close for this one.
Bloodborne, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and more are apparently being held hostage by Sony.

Exactly - and even consumers have to look at the 3DS and make no power distinction either. It’s fairly simple - Chibo Robo 3DS directly competes with CoD.
Try as you might bringing up the 3DS does not make the Switch any less a competitor to the Xbox and PlayStation. Nintendo themselves called it a hybrid console and its sales are tracked right along side the Xbox and PlayStation. The fact you can play it portably doesn't put it into a whole new market. It is a feature. When MS is called third place in consoles its not because Sony is being counted twice they are not THAT far ahead. There are three competing platform companies.

Let see what ABK says:

ABK said:
(i) Xbox lacks the ability, let alone the incentive, to foreclose its competitors from Call of Duty. The FTC's conclusory allegations to the contrary ignore all available real- world evidence, resting instead on a purely hypothetical "but for" world that has no basis in reality;
(ii) The FTC's theory assumes that a gaming platform cannot succeed without Call of Duty. The notion that a single game or franchise is the key to the continued competitive vigor of the highly dynamic video game industry is facially absurd and contradicted by the plain facts; and
(iii) The FTC's alleged relevant markets are made up for this litigation and are entirely nonsensical.
I can't say I disagree. Anyone thinking that the FTC has shown a clear knowledge of the video game industry is being just as political as they are. I get it but let's not act like they presented excellent arguments.

You are damn right. I already predicted the outcome of this acquisition. Ain't gonna be pretty for MS.

Bloodborne is owned by sony. It's like saying nintendo us blocking fire emblem from hitting other consoles. It's mostly made by a second party dev too.

Someone point to the section that says those games will never come to Xbox again?

Edit: Quoted in the article. There is no timeline given. This is a lawyer making assumptions.

"In addition to having outright exclusive content, Sony has also entered into arrangements with third-party publishers which require the “exclusion” of Xbox from the set of platforms these publishers can distribute their games on. Some prominent examples of these agreements include Final Fantasy VII Remake (Square Enix), Bloodborne (From Software), the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI (Square Enix) and the recently announced Silent Hill 2 remastered (Bloober team)."

I’m not trying to compare the 3DS to the Switch. I’m comparing it to the PS4.

or maybe, MS gets ABK and puts it on game pass making that a great deal for us consumers and Sony carries on delivering excellent first party and third party exclusive deals that makes or playstation purchases great too?

It doesnt have to end with someone dying off into obscurity. the whole point of the anti competitive laws is to ensure we are getting the best deals possible and companies are pushed to deliver better products and services to sway our purchasing decisions.

Only selling 1p and 3p games is basically niche.

If it goes through, then i think Take-Two will be next (for GTA 6) then after that maybe Ubisoft, and EA
Again guys, it won't happen.

MS would be borderline monopoly if they buy another big publisher after this.

They are going to buy smaller publishers like Sega or studios, but not EA, Ubisoft or take 2.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
"A theory premised on the notion that Xbox can withhold from its competitors something they never would have had access to in the first place reeks of desperation and is destined for failure."

"The FTC's disregard for these benefits to consumers and focus on supposed harms to Xbox's deep-pocketed competitors betrays a fundamental disconnect between the FTC's theories and the antitrust laws' underlying purpose, which is to protect competition, not competitors"

Did you just call Sega a small time publisher ?

Reading the other thread, idk why people are making such a big deal of this. It reads like standard timed exclusive contracts. Yeah in the case of FF7R, it seems Sony extended the exclusive window, but at the end of the day it’s just a timed exclusive deal.

I mean, someone could wrote up the same article for Stalker 2 and High on Life.

Lol I don’t think the point there is saying they don’t do it. The point they’re making is Sony exclusively employs this strategy of always locking their competition out of content. So why should they be looked at differently if they wanted to do the same.

How does Sony "exclusively employ this strategy" when Microsoft employs the same strategy?

Those can be bought, as they have less significant in the market space.

The big publishers have dominant games, which has more players and more sales compared to these small publishers.

You mean games like monster hunter which sold like 25m with the last mainline games, if ms gets some of those "smaller" pubs than sony is getting niche period.
