I'm one of those people that likes to read all there is to read and listen to everything there is to listen to. But the talking gun starts to talk about something and in the middle of the sentence basically interrupts himself and starts talking about something else.

Known issue?

Why is the Xbox mobile app such complete dogshit?

Went to add this game to my wishlist and you can't even do that. In fact, you can't do much of anything on this app.

For those that used to play adventure games like Sam and Max Hit the Road and others and loved to exhaust dialogues by clicking on the same thing repeatedly to see if new stuff would be said....High on Life has that and I love it. It's the small things, the extra bit of attention to things.

I tried to jump the counter in the store and the shopkeepers react to it, do it again and they say something new. I just love that kinda shit and they have done that for us, haha.

Since Digital Foundry canceled their coverage of this game, here is an analysis video from a good youtuber, with power consumption metrics included.

Guess I'll be the asshole in here. I don't think it's impossible at all that a crass humor game filled with politically incorrect humor, with a joke about murdering your ex-wife, and a feminist joke in the first 3 hours would be excessively marked down by gaming journalists that typically make it a point to trash games like that unfairly.
I wouldn't describe the humor as politically incorrect, as much as dark, crass, and absurdist. I haven't heard any reviews complaining about the content or subject matter of jokes, just whether or not they found them funny. These things are perfectly subjective.

Worse still, if the humor doesn't click these thing can become actively grating given how chatty the game is.

There's just no other way for me to actually explain the huge discrepancy in scores. Even taking into account that this kind of humor will not be for everyone and the game will be inherently divisive as comedy is more subjective than most things, I think most professional reviewers would be able to acknowledge the average to above average graphics, gameplay, writing, and wealth of easter eggs and additional skits that are all well done.
I would say the gameplay, graphics, etc are kind of mid. Although it gets a lot better as more abilities open up. It's definitely an impressive step up for the studio but it's not a stand-out on gameplay alone.

They absolutely, 100% take political activism into account with their reviews
Some places definitely do. But I don't think this game is really slaughtering any politcal sacred cows, man. I'm definitely left-leaning and I don't find anything in it even slightly offensive.

This game is funny but it might be the most broken game I’ve played in awhile.

Running into so many bugs and this is after downloading the patch.

And furthermore, there's zero reason to trust the bulk of reviewers when Harry Potter hits next year. They absolutely, 100% take political activism into account with their reviews - whether you want to bury your head in the sand and ignore that or not. Call it woke, call it activism, call it political correctness, I don't care. The point is they explicitly let their personal ideology influence their scores all the time, because they literally see their scores as activism and try to influence which games get rewarded and which games get punished for not advancing their ideological goals.

Unfortunately I think you're right WRT Harry Potter. We know there are journalists who frequent ResetERA who are going to being overly critical of the game and try as a hard as possible to push a negative score just out of spite. Punishing a game unfairly that was worked on by hundreds of hard-working people just to foolishly think you're "sending a message" to a woman who created the franchise but otherwise had little to zero involvement in the game itself, is just pathetic.

But it's gonna be funny if people are only now considering that maybe some of these reviewers aren't worth trusting; I was saying that back in February looking at some of the HFW and Sifu reviews and the double-standards afforded to Elden Ring in comparison to those games. If it takes this game and Harry Potter for more people to finally accept that maybe the reviews process industry-wide (and the aggregation process on places like MC) needs a fix-up, fine.

I would just say, leave politics and culture war crap out of it altogether. The reviews process & aggregation process can be fixed without dipping into those poisoned wells. Like other people were say, take this game: maybe the humor isn't to your taste, but you should at least be able to acknowledge that it looks good, runs pretty well, has good writing, good controls, good mission structure, variety etc. (going by what others are saying about their experience). A couple of jokes you didn't find funny shouldn't suddenly drag a game down into yellow territory.

Considering their background, writing is indeed the strongest point..

I did the 1 dollar gamepass this month just to play it. I've honestly enjoyed the hell out of it. Only had it crash once when loading back to the house from a portal. I have no doubt this is gonna be a purchase when on sale for me. Doesn't surprise me though. I loved Trover Saves the Universe too.

Beat the first boss. It's fun. Im not laughing my ass off but Im not disliking it either. It's nowhere near AAA tho.

For people with an AMD card, add this line to the engine.ini file.

r.HZBOcclusion=1

I got a 7% performance increase. It's not much, but it's nice to have.
If you have an NVidia card, leave it at "0"
I’ll give it a go, what’s this anyway? What does it do? Bork something else?

Why does the sister call you "they" to Gene? I guess I could understand when Gene does that, he can't exactly know if you're a dude or chick, but the sister? Wtf. I guess it's the dev mocking that nonsense? Because if there's one studio I didn't expect that from.....

Is this timed exclusive has there been any indication about a Ps/Switch release? Love rick and morty
Seems that it's an Xbox exclusive. There's been other games that have eventually made their way to PS5, but I'd suggest you'll need to wait until sometime in 2023 to find out.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
unds like I should wait a month or so until it’s fully patched - sounds good based on the comments in here.

It's perfectly fine on console, but for PC you're probably good waiting for a patch. I don't know it this studio is big enough to do a pre-compiled shaders patch or something for so many different GPU vendors tho..

How do you unlock the Hunter Forums? I beat the game and it still says experienced hunters only.

Just lazy not wanting to record two versions I think, since the main character can be either.

I think you need to do the challenges to unlock more, there's details in the achievement detail page here:

You have to do specific challenges. It should tell you what unlocks each “thread”.
Nope they're all just red and locked like at the start of the game. Broken I guess. Oh well guess I'm not gonna platinum this one.

This game really did ship about two or three weeks early. They've addressed a lot of the stuff in the patches but stuff like this is really frustrating.

People talks about the "humor" of the game as if you're watching stand-up comedy, it's more complex and also more digestible than journalists make it look, no matter what your tastes regarding humor are. Unless you're really triggered by it, i see no point in being contemptuous like they are (because they're not just saying they didn't find it very funny, they write pages to explain how it's unfunny, with vague but brutal slanders sometimes).

It's a video game made for straight fun. Why compare it to Rick & Morty in the first place ? The game tries to be fun, more than it's trying to be funny. It plays on the interactions and situations, not just on delivering a funny line.

If that's really so inoffensive to them i really don't see why someone would write a paper to explain that High on Life is a really unfunny game, or give it a 3 out of 10. Makes no sense when it is just a game where you get to experience funny situations and that definitely has its own originality that we do not see elsewhere, whether you like it or not.

Yes, people in the comments at twitter mentioned that this was broken for them. I expect another patch within a week.

The TV commercial for the stand up comedy show was pretty fantastic. They’ve really done a great job with all the side stuff, I always stop to just watch the TV’s. It’s like an extra episode of inter-dimensional cable in R&M.

I’ve enjoyed pretty much all of it thus far, some pretty solid platform of in this game as well which surprised me. The bosses have been a lot of fun too.

Twice, characters called other characters “racist” for things which had nothing to do with race as a joke, thus making fun of people who call everything racist as their main form of communication. It was pretty funny.

That kind of humor isn't going to raise any eyebrows though. I think there is a big gap between politically incorrect and "woke". Either way, still no evidence that I'm seeing that reviewers are punishing the game for anything related to politics. Some of them just don't think the game is funny. That is ok.

The game is awesome... do you get to see the whole t-rex movie? (hilarious). I've been missing games like this one, and they actually did some reasonable regional pricing, $26 usd for me at Steam, unlike the types of EA or other tyrants who are asking $82 in third world countries lfmao. Also I installed to one of my HDD's just because I don't want to fill my ssd's unless I have to, and there has not been a single hiccup (i3 12100f/rtx3050).

I'm conflicted. The game plays fairly well so far, but the game is not funny to an insane degree. Normally I don't have a problem with games that fail at humor, but this game is constantly trying to be funny and fails more often than not. It's truly incessant.
