Damn...I wonder if this was triggered by that Billion dollar UK Lawsuit (they were gonna do it anyways but lawsuit sealed the deal)

Lol this is bs.
Putting XSX on the same level as PS5 digital is a win for xbox because it's cheaper?
It's much more weaker than the reduction in price.
Also, I would much more prefer to pay 70 for good games than get used to getting free indie games all the time.
Some upgrades were free on ps5.

Anyway. I will say it
Xbox is bad for the industry. It is devaluing games, Phil is a filthy liar and microsoft buying everything is making the whole industry worse.
And they have no games
This meltdown 😂

I like the way this is a thread about Sony raising the price of PS5, and yet somehow the thread has turned into another 'lets deflect by attacking Xbox' thread.
I suppose somehow this price hike is Microsofts fault?.

Never change fanboys.
So why would MS fanboys be in here if this doesn't affect them one bit? Why are you still here?
What would be really funny is if Sony still outsold MS with an even more expensive console. The meltdowns would be Unreal.

omg you are right!
That was a great evening! I even went to the bed a bit late because of it.

to others:
oof... I got baited too much here.
You can now stop quoting and responding to my brain farts. I am not choking on that sweet... delicious bait again today.
I was just about to say you are letting people get to you :)

Theyd be happy even if Jimbo turned up at their house and fucked with them with a large strap-on. Which he is effectively doing anyway

So MS shouldn't have any reason to increase their prices for anything should they? Let's see how this plays out.....

I own an XSX. I don’t hate MS. You clearly seem to hate Sony though.

How was Microsoft able to purchase Activision? Oh, right, by generating massive profits in other divisions due to monopolistic tactics leading to a massive moat that allows them increased margins

So, good on them for screwing over their corporate clients so you can get a discount on their gaming products and services?
Microsoft is a global corporate entity with it's hands in multiple industries and massively successful in most of them. They are within their rights to spend their profits and retained earnings however they see fit, especially if they believe it will lead to increased market-share and profits sometime in the future. You simply seem to be annoyed that Microsoft isn't allowing the Xbox brand to die...I wonder why.

Also this talk about Microsoft corporate clients getting screwed somehow...

I sure wish I could be screwed by them too and have my stock interests grow the way Microsoft's has in the past 5 years.

It's wild to think about how people are still trying to find a PS5 in some countries, now they're gonna raise the price. Oof.

Nah it's living in reality. Everything is going up. I'm not happy about it but that's the situation. Inflation is at 10%.
Well dont defend it then. You dont have to attack your fave comapny if you dont want to, just dont fucking defend it. Just for once some of you look at this from our perspective, the consumer, not billionaire companies.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Someone on era pointed that they've further revised and increased the price for Japan, compared to what they announced in the morning.

Original increase:
Japan (effective Sept. 15, 2022)
PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – ¥54,980 yen
PS5 Digital Edition – ¥44,980 yen

Updated increase:
Japan (effective Sept. 15, 2022)
PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – ¥60,478 yen (including tax)
PS5 Digital Edition – ¥49,478 yen (including tax)

Fuck Japan, I guess.

Cracking Up Lol GIF by HULU

Imagine the mental gymnastics needed to defend SIE placing the burden of revenue on their customers 2 yrs after product debut in the middle of a global recession, whilst simultaneously boasting about their record profits last quarter 😂🥹🥹
Sony truly deserves it's fans
Your right, Sony should reduce the size of the RAM, SSD and heatsink to keep the PS5 cheap.

No, I think it's much lower than that. The whole prices on everything has increased is nonsense. Dont fall for their lies.

GPUs are cheaper than ever. The 10 tflops 6600xt is selling below MSRP nowadays. SSDs are cheaper than ever. This has not effected any other electronics. TVs, PCs, SSDs, Cameras, and Phones are all going on sale like they always do. RAM prices went up two years ago but have gone back down starting last year. They made their heatsink smaller to reduce costs.

I upgrade my PC parts practically every year. Yes, they were more expensive around 2020, but starting from around mid 2021, I saw a drastic price drop for everything from fans to AIOs to RAM, SSDs and especially CPUs. Bought everything under MSRP since around August of 2021. Got my iwatch for $100 below MSRP 4 weeks before black friday. The LG OLED models are cheaper today than they were in 2020. Not for the older models, but the newer yearly upgrades. The 65 inch C1 is just $1,600. The C2 is $2,000. Anyone who bought the CX in 2020 knows how expensive that 65 inch model was even on black friday let alone in the middle of august.
Do you own a car or go shopping?

It's nothing to do with that. Unless your stupid everything is going up. The console market isn't in a separate bubble. It's gonna affect everything. A bit sad of Sony to push the cost on the consumer.

The thing is they are trying to create a narrative that Sony is this horrible company that does not care about its customers when the reality is a lot of other industries have also increased prices.

Sony released a game pass like service last month that now gives players the option to have a catalog of games to play plus they have been decent at releasing a steady flow of next gen games for people to play on their new console.

I don't agree with the price increase for the console or games but we have to also keep in mind the price of everything else outside of gaming has gone up so why would the gaming industry be any different?
Agree here. The most pro-consumer move a game company and platform can make is releasing high quality games for the market to play. Sony have delivered arguably the most in this regard and still have GOWR incoming before the end of the year. MS gets deserved praise for everything they do outside of releasing games, but in my mind as a consumer they aren’t currently meeting expectations on the output from all the studios they own.

How the f*ck, why the f*ck people here are defending price increase? It is not normal customer behaviour. Company that is making billions want to make more billions (this is normal) but you as customers shouldn’t simply be happy about price increase like this.
No one wants to see price increases. But come on dude. People aren't going to suddenly declare the company that provides most of their entertainment is the devil just because they fell in line with almost every single company in the word that reacted to inflation. And if we're talking about normal customer behavior, how many of the people up in arms are even customers? Let's be real here.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
So no US price increase. Wow. And here I thought the US had inflation too. I guess Xbox doing well in the US means the price has to stay the same, but in markets where PS5 clearly wins, they can jack it up without consequences.

This is the reason why Sony doesn't need to raise the price of the PS5 in the US. The strong dollar means they're earning more yens with every PS5 sold even with inflation.

Sony pulled in over 24 billion in 2021 and have billions in profit and you still justify the price hike by comparing to Microsoft lol
You get the difference between revenue and profit, right?
Do you want to compare the pure profits raked in by both companies? Come on, it is getting too disingenuous now.

according to currency convertor on google currently £1 sterling is worth 161.5426 yen. so pound is stronger against the yen and still getting an increase?
