The Last of Us Part I Rebuilt for PS5 - Features and Gameplay Trailer

It's literally not. At all.

You have no idea what this is/was, and neither does the person who initially brought this up, which is why claims that this was a disaster are idiotic.

10M sales and buckets of GOTY awards is objectively a success. I don't need to know Sony sales figures to logic my way to this being a success on basically every level, it's really simple math. However if you have data that shows how TLOU2's total budget somehow would be something that logically exceeds that kind of sales figure -- millions of which occurred right at launch for full MSRP, to the point where it set records for PS -- please do share it.
Well I tried to explain why only a crude sale number might not be indicative for the company of a product financial succes as expected originally, if you disagree and think differently thats ok... we will agree in disagree... anyhow you are too much of a fanboy to have a grounded conversation. So Ill ignore you and you can continue in your safe space with others of the nd cult.. bye

Yes, and you did a poor job of that.

Claiming something as a success and a failure based on a massive sales number is literally not the same thing, they aren't equally valid just because everyone agrees there are many other unknowns relevant to the product. So don't say or suggest they are. It does nothing but demonstrate your own personal bias at worst, or your extreme lack of awareness on the subject at best.

Improved cutscenes made shot by shot and using same mocap and same gameplay and level design compared to FF7R and putting both in the same category? You do realize how ridiculous that is?

This is a remaster. Same as the previous remaster.
They had to remake it meaning new assets. The remake didn’t have new assets. It’s a delicate balance preserving the elevating the original but not going so far that it’s recognizable . But for fanboy gamers you are damned if do, damned if you don’t. In my opinion giving Joel Ellie’s moveset would have changed the og game to much, enemies encounters, the design layout. I like that TLou1 and tlou2 play different.

So how many copies do you see it selling this year?
It’s going to sell fine. There’s plenty of ppl who haven’t played it yet. I think it’s more for PC players which Sony is an untapped market and Sony gets another quality PS5 1st party game, win win. You know PC master race don’t want to play a ps3 game on their 3090. that would not sell.

Wall breakings and objects being destroyed is absolutely nothing new, kz2 had this, fucking stranglehold on ps3 had this, red faction on ps2 had this, mgs2 in the tank section had this.

It's always well accepted of course but literally nothing new or mindblowing, it doens't change the gameplay at all unless they can blow away entire walls or big covers where you hide, but in the video you see more something like this (unless i missed something)

For sure it should be a clear step above from what Jaguar cpu can accomplish. We have a month long marketing push ahead of us so we should see the extent of the new tech being put to use.

Just for clarification things like that would also include a lot of rigid objects. It doesn't necessarily mean that there are significantly more enemies or vehicles, but mostly objects in the background that blend well and make a more realistic/busy looking environment.
When paying attention to the TLOU Remake trailer one can see the old game looking pretty bland in detail and the remake has a lot more single elements blending into one object.

Could be wrong, but I don't think this is what he's talking about. I think he's literally talking about objects that can be manipulated based on what's going on in the scene environment. Rigid sounds like static to me, or am I understanding you correctly?

Ye maybe I am wrong. Unclear as of now I'd say

Yet the majority disagrees reading most opinions on here. This is what they promised "modernized gameplay" "enhanced exploration" First thing that comes to mind is Part 2 gameplay and changes in level design. I mean why wouldn't you put the work into your 70$ product to make the gameplay and experience better. Yet here we are. Most people disappointment here is not enough gameplay changes and level design which would at least justify the price. Purest who would outrage because "Why did you change too much ND!!" Can go play the PS4 remaster.

Yeah, as I said. Thanks for more examples, though. That this kind of physics are still not standard in some AAA games is baffling. So TLOU Part One having that is a nice and, for me, much needed immersive addition.

a rigid body is an object with simulated physical properties

I don't understand. Why are people griping about this? I think what Naughty Dog is doing is really great. It has to be the definite version of the game, no?

Some people just can't be satisfied. I mean...is it worth $70? That's another conversation, but they didn't have to do shit. For what it is, I appreciate it.

It's pretty much a straight up remake. Which is exactly what I thought it would be. Not worth it at full price for people who have already played it. It's well worth it for newcomers though. I'll play it when sony adds it to ps plus.

Yeah fanboys have been around since forever, but we never coddled and protected them like they do on era. I am talking about state sanctioned fanboyism where any criticism of any console is labelled warring or concern trolling by these fanboys and the mods take their side and ban the person who had the sense to call a spade a spade.

Thankfully the mods here took the opposite approach and banned the fanboys instead of protecting them.
ehhhh I'm kinda against banning them. They're daft but I like room for discussion. They will only go elsewhere to say reddit where they will hear no opposition or counter points. But I get why people get annoyed with them.

Damned if you damned if you don’t. I’m holding judgment until reviews. Reaching a conclusion about things like AI from a marketing video is a waste of time.

I think what it boils down to is they shouldn't have used deceitful marketing. They created this controversy themselves because they didn't need to use that language but they did. We shouldn't accept that because something is "marketing" that we should all be OK when it is so disengenuous.

Honestly it looks fine to me and I will be playing it for sure. I wouldnt want them to mess too much with it either way.

Personally I think any game from the ps3 gen and back (that are 3d) look putrid in modern displays so any game I love being remade is a win for me. Its been a long time since I played this game and I'm eager to binge it with part 2 back to back with current graphical fidelity.

Heck, even early ps4 titles can look like trash nowadays, recently tried to play Evil Within one on series X and I'm pretty sure it was like 720p/30 and pretty much horrible to look at.

Im sure the remaster is fine for some people and I might have only played it on PS3 but this remake is here, its done. I didn't ask for it but im definitely going to enjoy it.

Pricing discussion is another matter and im not happy about the move to $70 in general but it is what it is. Just wait for a sale if you cant or wont pay it.

This is even beyond Rockstar lvl of greed tbh gta wasn't 60 fps on ps4 and if ur hard-core into gta online the next gen version which was still not sold for full price could make a case.
But asking 70 dollars for this is day time robbery .
Are the graphics better? Sure they are but in my memory when I played it on ps4 Pro it more or less looks the same with some added flair here and there

They are literally griping about this costing 70 bucks. If it was 30 - 40 I doubt many would be complaining. That plus calling it a remake when it is clearly a remaster.

Build from the ground up for ps5 ladies and gentlemen...😴 😑

If they went at least honest about it. Look, we got the hbo show coming, we want to boost the hype and celebrate this great game.. here's a remaster for 39,99 or 29,99 for deluxe ps plus. Something like that. Enjoy it until we launch the factions multi-player thing that we couldn't deliver with part II.

I tell you if they put a video of Ashley Johnson and Troy backer telling about how they felt recording the voices on the ps3 era I never gonna buy another naughty dog game again.

If they’d either priced it fairly, or included it in PS Plus then I doubt a single person would have much of a problem with what the game is.
Honestly, this would’ve been the perfect game to get people to subscripe to PS+ if it was there day 1 on Premium.

Now even old fans are angry since they already bought the game twice at full price and now they feel like they need to buy it again, and then there is the still not shown PC version too which makes it difficult to know if that’s where the definitive edition will be.

I’m in the wait for PS+ release group. I want to play it but not pay full price.

As much as I loved TLOU on PS3 (also got the remaster).. this is essentially more akin to a suped up remaster with minor improvements here and there, on a more modern engine. If this were £40 release I'd think about getting it. At full price, nah.. I'll pick it up for cheap a year or two down the line. Probably on Steam.

Quite disappointed in in all honesty.. from a ND a game 'built from the ground up' for PS5. It still looks like it plays near enough the same as it did in 2013. Wish they didn't waste dev time on this.

Because Jim Ryan can’t read the room

Should be $39 or less for those that already bought the game two times before

Charging $70 is a slap in the face. People should boycott it for that reason alone
Sony's just completely abandoned flexible pricing. Charging the same for Returnal, Nioh Remastered and this as they do Horizon and God of War.

It's a joke. In what world should I pay £20 more for this than I did Elden Ring.

Even if I want the game I agree with this. Naughty Dog is my favourite game developer and they had a team investing time in this and another bigger team doing a multiplayer game (something I'm not interested in). So I feel they have wasted a precious development time since The Last of us 2.

I hope it has some Tarkov elements as well. You start somewhere in the city, have an objective, but have to fight AI human factions and infected and also cross paths with other player(groups) that have the same objective.

Everything scavenging from buildings and enemies you can keep if you extract, but if you die you lose the resources and gear you brought with you.
