They are leaning on the girl/women power. I wish the kept that scene where Captain Marvel smacks that guy around. It made her look kinda toxic. It could have been one of those Marvel character flaws.

Here is the scene. I was wrong. She does not smack the guy around. She just hurts his hand. They should have kept it. She was being a dick.

That movie is going to have Brie Larson, a Pakistani Muslim girl from Jersey City, and Monica Rambeau. If you thought this thread was bad, hold on to your butts.

The excuse was that because she's in The Marvels with Captain Marvel and Photon they wanted her powers to be light-based to fit in with them better. It's stupid, yes.

Watch episode 2 and there is a hint at something else going on in relation to her powers. Loved the second episode as well, I really like how we are just spending time with Kamala and getting to know her. Her heroics are also very low stakes within the neighborhood. Only complaint is that it didn't have as much visual stylings as the first episode.

Yeah. They kind of screw around with the origins of characters a little too much in the MCU. They have really been doing that with the Marvels.

Not really, Hulk and Captain Marvel are the only other characters I can really think of where their origins are changed up. I guess Photon as well, I don't know her origin yet in the comics.

Wanda, Quicksilver, and Vision have altered origins. I think Ultron's origin is different. Doctor Strange's stayed pretty much the same, but they changed his master to a woman.
Vision's new form originates differently in the comics.
Mysterio is a whole different character, but makes more sense.

I was more focused on the heroes, not the villains.
I totally forgot about Wanda and Quicksilver, they were changed out of necessity though since they couldn't be mutants. I think MCU Wanda matches up with modern comics more though where she is more focused on witch craft.
Vision was still made by Ultron whether it's MCU or comics. Ultron's origin is different though, again due to necessity with Edgar Wright failing to start production on Ant-Man in time and then having creative differences when he was ready to commence.

Only woke people think like that.

So why am I not surprised that you are the prime target audience for this show?

Romaticizing Islam is a f*cking dumb Idea, even by Marvel standards.

Marvel romanticizes murder(like every avenger), lying to government officials(cap and black widow), violating national borders(every avenger), theft(ant man), fighting and injuring cops just doing their job(cap in civil war) and all kinds of stuff but a girl walking into a mosque is too far?

Lol

It’s Red Dagger.

Are you sure? Kamran in the comics is someone different.

*EDIT*
I know Red Dagger is in the show as well. But they might be 2 separate characters like the comic.

do i have to watch this as part of the full mcu storyline? just finished falcon and the winter soldier so im way behind.
Yes if you plan on seeing The Marvels. Or you can listen to the people who scream that the Disney+ shows aren't needed like WandaVision and then to cry on Twitter about Doctor Strange destroying Wanda for making her the villain because you didn't see the show.

Which is funny because even Dr. Strange 2 had at least one line IIRC stating that the Darkhold corrupts the mind of the user yet a ton of people were all, “why is she acting this way?!”

It even beat you over the head with an evil corrupted Doctor Strange from another reality.

So much for Muslim tolerance:

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Authorities across much of the Muslim world have barred Disney’s latest animated film “Lightyear” from being played at cinemas after the inclusion of a brief kiss between a lesbian couple, the company said Thursday as the movie premiered.

Nations that refused to allow the film to be shown include Bahrain, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria and the United Arab Emirates, Disney said. The UAE, home to Abu Dhabi and Dubai, earlier this week announced it would not allow the film to screen.

Many Muslims consider gays and lesbians to be sinful. In some parts of the Arab world, members of the LGBTQ community have been arrested and sentenced to prison. Some countries even maintain the death penalty.

They should have made Kamala gay and watched American Muslims burn down the house.
For once it would have actually mattered, but we all know Marvel is too coward to take an actual stance on modern faith.

I honestly was not expecting this serious of a thread for a show like this.

Regardless, so far it has been a refreshingly fun romp of a show. I'm not taking it as seriously as others here and it's been fun to watch for me. I'm hoping they can continue to be creative with the show's camerawork, effects, and artistic environmental storytelling. Some of it reminds me of Scott Pilgrim and it's not a bad thing to take inspiration from such a great movie.

The most recent episode showed the women at the mosque being kept to an area with a worse view and with poorly maintained facilities. It’s actually taken more of a stance than I expected.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
I think people are focusing way too much on the Muslim stuff. I'm Jewish and I can really care less unless it contain some anti-semitic or anti-Israel rhetoric which obviously it's not.

Let Muslims (and little girls) they're superhero while we have Moon Knight.... and Kitty Pride, Thing and Magneto.

Besides, I can't actually see the show being too welcome in the more hardcore Muslim countries anyways, ironically sort of.

Edit: I bet this comic wouldn't fly today. 😂

I agree her religion doesn't bother me at all. I'm really enjoying the show. I hope they can keep the quality consistent during all 6 episodes

You haven't watched the show whatsoever and giving opinions based on the opinions of others. That's disingenuous AF! LOL
