Thousand dollars on SOCOM.

I mean, it does say FPS and they did say new IP.

That rumor of GG working on Socom though could be true, but even if we are to say this new team is making Socom, then it would likely be swappable from 3rd to first person or something. Maybe they are listing it as new IP and FPS to throw people off to have a hype reveal.

Keep hope alive!

Hmm interesting timing. Might be worried about losing cod.

This team was formed before that deal and this partnership with Sony started before that deal. Even the Bungie deal started before that Activison deal, like 6 months ago. So we won't know what their move will be to combat that until later if they even do anything at all as they might feel what they have going might be enough or something. Who knows.

A Socom FPS wouldn’t make much sense. Needs to be a TPS

You do know they’ve been working on this for a while, don’t you? 🤣
Can't believe cod will be the cause for Sony's death.

Who could have guessed?

What's this?

MS bought EA? No Respawn and Dice shooters? Oh nooo Sony.

You have no shooters...

In al seriousness, they knew they were lacking and xbox guys were asking for one, so they are making like 4.

I don't want an involved story in my shooter campaign. I don't even need objectives, but can tolerate those. Just give me an arcade action shooter like DOOM.

Serious question: how many times has this “studio made up of industry veterans making a game similar to one they previously worked on” even resulted in a smash hit? The one example that keeps coming to mind is Yooka-Laylee, which didn’t exactly capture Banjo’s success.

Nice to see they'll have single player campaigns, I typically don't like to play multiplayer.

Is that Socum? Since that game is kinda open world.

edit: i guess we wont see open world socum soon.
As I remember the director of Rainbow Six Siege is rumored to be directing an online squad shooter at Guerrilla since over 4 years ago. Some even rumored (or assumed) it's a Socom game.

Yes, there are many cases. In shooters, Destiny. Or Infinity Ward, created from people who came from making shooters like Medal of Honor. Or well, basically any big AAA studio since most people they hire come from other AAA games, if possible similar to the one they'll make, and as successful as possible.

world class?!? I've never heard anyone describing a game, world class. does he mean high production value?
Yes, an AAA game that they aim to be a big hit. Like any big AAA game from any big publisher and specially made by people who come from making super successful games.

Hmm interesting timing. Might be worried about losing cod.
They started to work on it 3 years ago and they announced the Sony X Deviation deal a year ago. The ABK acquisition started 2 months ago.

I was more so talking about studios that kind of label themselves as “made up of X studio devs” or “the devs behind Y game.”

I didn’t really count Bungie/Destiny since that was (more or less, from what I understand) the same entity/culture just moving onto another project, whereas games like Yooka-Laylee or Mighty No. 9 specifically drew attention to who was involved in the game (Banjo and Megaman devs) as a means of drumming up excitement, while no longer being a part of the entity that made those original games to begin with.

Wasn’t aware of the Medal of Honor/Infinity Ward connection, will look into that more myself.

There are many of them. Kojipro, the makers of MGS. Their first game as new studio is on track to be the best selling Kojima game ever and got many GOTYs.
