The questions during the next fiscal reports on February 2 will be fun
Btw I guess the point is not the present but what Sony wants to be in the future and there are many options.
The management isn't clueless to the business transformations, that is why they started buying studios in 2021 and why they have started making PC games.
Imo the first thing they need to do is to become an unmissable option for people interested in games counting just on their forces. That means pretty much like Nintendo.
They have the means to do that thanks to the quality of their studios and games but they need the final big boost/kick and that means buying a smaller publisher that perfectly complements their identity and they can afford and those would be Square and Capcom looking at the market.
After that they need to explore business partnerships and that might include huge giants like Google, Amazon, Apple.
It's no mistery that these companies have gaming ambitions and a lot of money, but they lack the understanding of the gaming business and game development which is something Sony can provide.
Also Sony and Microsoft aren't necessarily enemies as well, they can totally work on a deal that might benefit both.
A lot of scenarios are open and imo it will be interesting to see how they take action instead of keeping the auto pilot.
