Obviously I see that this is a big deal, however I dont see why this is such an apocalyptical event for so many people here.
As a game pass owner I am happy I can finally play the CoD campaigns, because I wasnt willing to pay for those games just to play a 4 hours campaign. But I'm still happy to play all my Sony exclusive stuff, which I also like a lot. So much happiness to go around. If anything it becomes more and more clear to me that owning two consoles or a a console and a PC will be as affordable like never before.
I mean a PS5 and a XSX set you back 900 bucks. Calculate that over a lifespan of about 7 years, than thats 10 bucks a month plus lets say 15 bucks for each subscription service. Thats 40 bucks a months for all Sony and MS games plus a lot of 3rd party stuff. More than you could ever play in your life. You can also subscribe to one service for 6 months and then for the other another 6 months or whatever share makes sense to you, so it only adds up to 25 bucks a month for most of what gaming has to offer.
I mean....thats cool right? A few multi billion dollar companies fighting for your attention. I just hope the business models make sense. I dont want less developers and less good games. As long as we have good hardware and good software and everyone can make a living from making and publishing games, its all good. Doesnt really matter whats the branding on it.
I do hope Sony comes out of this with force as well. I just have so much nostalgic feeling with them. To me its a nice comfy feel good brand. So naturally I want them alive and well. But its cool if MS is going strong as well. Games are cool these days.
Maybe Nintendo joins the ranks in 10 years or so as well.
