So annoyed, was about to win an eliminator race, I was well ahead, and first place, right near the end and then suddenly the game ended and said I was 3rd, wtf.

Really soured me on the eliminator as I should've got that 30gs achievement :l

Damn sucks. I've yet to enter an eliminator race, so I'm not sure what it is, but did you happen to miss some kind of checkpoint? Is that the battle royale mode, eliminator?

This argument fails at Horizon as you actually have to play it and unlock the first festival to show up on the leaderboard. So saying it's just people who loaded the game once is false.

You said this in the other thread but you don't. You only need them to view your score but you are counted with 0 too. Does this take away from FH5s success? No. Does this mean player count can be used interchangeably for recurrent players? Also no.

I got in a debate in the other thread because people use it stupidly for recurrent active players when it literally gives you very little information about recurrent active players.

You keep coming into FH5 threads acting like a big shot telling people that player count doesn't exactly correlate to 100% sales, 100% gamers all playing at the same time at the exact minute, or 100% of them will be playing the game for the next 5 years.

Give it a rest know it all.

Dont forget to post your insane knowledge in every other game with player count trackers. COD and FIFA have bigger user bases than FH, feel free to tell all shooter and sports fans your views on player count

If you want a different perspective you can always look at the leaderboards for other games, then you have something to compared this 8+ mil after a week figure with. I think you’ll find that it’s impressive no matter how you look at it.

Does anyone think that reverting back to driving on right after FH4 has had any impact on the player count since two thirds of the countries on our planet drive on the right.

Nah, I’ve never considered avoiding the game when it’s wrong, it’s mostly an annoyance you have to adapt to. But still, finally!

I've only played first 20 minutes so far. Is that a good sampling of the game or does it get significantly better over the next couple of hours?

It feels more like a music game to me. You kind of shut your mind off, keep the car kinda close to that racing line, and the game keeps handing you wins.

turn assists off and increase drivatar level? Race against human opponents? Do different races like drift or trailblazer? You should be being prompted to increase difficulty when your winning so easily are you saying no to those? This kind of argument is exactly why souls games with easier difficulty would be a problem, would get comments in threads like i beat the game in 4 hours just pressing attack in enemies faces is that all this game is.

Good on PlayGround Games, I’m kinda surprised the game is as popular as it seems to be. I didn’t think racings sims (if you can call it that) had this kind of appeal.

But that’s probably because I’m not a fan of them myself. Though I have to admit that I’ve had fun just driving around in Mexico, they’ve done a great job with the open world.

No checkpoints at all on eliminator, it's literally just the battle royale mode. The last goal is first to reach a part of the map, and luckily I was facing the right side and the top of last circle towards it when no one else was remotely near, so there I was happily driving away at first place, then suddenly it ended as I was near the end and said I finished third place, what genuinely really annoyed me, I recorded the last bit.

I'm not the biggest fan of the eliminator so was really hoping I would of got that achievement out the way.

If somebody in a COD or FIFA thread started using leaderboard player counts to suggest 350M people are playing COD right now I'd be sure to.

Your constant mention of "next 5 yrs" is a stupid deflection of you not understanding the subject even in the first week. If on the first day of release on the leaderboard there are 2M people and on the next day there are 4M people what does this tell you about recurrent players? Nothing. The amount of recurrent players doesn't double on the next day. You can even check this on steam.

I only mention that leaderboard counts can't gauge sales or recurrent players while constantly saying I'm happy FH5 is a great success and that still upsets your stupid feelings.

It's funny you mention that, a lot of people seem very surprised when I tell them that halo and Forza are coming to game pass day one.

Despite the fact they are game pass subscribers they are oblivious. (But pleasantly surprised by what pops up each month)

I think outside gaming sites/forums etc, a lot of the casual audience, still probably don't realise stuff like starfield etc will be day one on game pass.

Lol I know why I'm playing Forza Horizon 5 right now, and it's because Microsoft just gave me 3 months of Gamepass for 1€ (like they do every other year) so why not play it if it's a well reviewed game?

FH5 has great graphics and it's a fun game to play, but let's not pretend that Microsoft giving away 3 months of Gamepass virtually for free worldwide isn't part of the reason the game is getting so many people playing it.

Year end will have Halo Infinite to compete on Gamepass attention. Many of the people playing FH5 now will start playing that instead IMO.

FH5 is the best reviewed new game on Gamepass right now. Of course that many of the 20 million base Gamepass customers are going to try it out. And very obviously, whenever Microsoft gives away 3 months basically for free, the service will get a 3- month-long boost in subscriptions.
So between the 20 million base and the 3-months-for-free players - who are coming just on time to try out FH5 - obviously the game is going to get inflated player numbers.

This will be a tough generation for you, I'd wager.

Yes, playing FH5 on my high-end PC after paying 1€ has been really challenging. I'm not sure I can deal with all this toughness.

You've been here a couple of months and you speak of my "long history"? I don't console war, I've never gotten even a warning for that, I've owned all brands of consoles and enjoyed them all. That however doesn't mean I didn't consider certain platforms to be better than others at a given time. I believed the 360 was far better than the PS3 and gamed mostly on 360 at that point, the following gen that all changed and I believe the PS4 was far better than the XB1 to the point where I didn't even need to own an XB1. As for this gen, it's too early to tell. I went with PS5 last year because it was backwards compatible and I still had a lot of PS4 games to play, and I could play some of them in an enhanced state, plus I thought the launch lineup for PS5 was a little stronger due to having a big first party exclusive in Miles Morales. I decided to recently get a Series X because MS was finally launching some big exclusives like Forza Horizon and Halo Infinite. I was a big fan of the regular Forza series, if you know my "long history" you'd know how I often said it was better than Gran Turismo in my book, but I never played the Horizon games. I tried Horizon 5 for a few hours so far and it's not my cup of tea, too much wandering around aimlessly for my taste, same reason I didn't enjoy Burnout Paradise that much compared to Burnout 3 or Revenge. I also loathe the whole Gen Z festival concept. The graphics are gorgeous though and I'm not saying it's a bad game, just a game that isn't for me and I'm a bit sad about it, that's all. Oh and in my opinion, people who get triggered by a post of somebody not liking a game they like to point of having to respond with personal attacks are the real console warriors.
