Is the audio mixing with headphones any better than using a 2.1\tv speaker?! I can't locate the position-direction of any near enemies for shit in this game, you can't even understand if they are close or far...also when they talk between them they go from being loud to almost silent while moving a couple of cm...

I'm not even a sound mix whore with games but this one is just abysmal.

The sound mix is great with my 7.1.2 surround sound system (the positional audio is great, I can pinpoint enemies from footsteps, bullets, etc and nearby residuum pickups) but it's fucking terrible when I had to use headphones with the game the other day. Even the music doesn't sound the same when using the headphones so I think something is horribly wrong when using the 2 channel mix.

I tried Deathloop with a colleague and I feel it's amazing (though the dumb ai is off-putting). Granted it has performance issues for some people, can we talk about the real reason why it's being reviewbombed that much on Metacritic?

Some good devs remove the Denuvo after a couple of months.
Which really makes me wonder: why even buy games at release?

After 23 hours I have finally broke the loop! :D
Now is the time for platinum which will be a lot of fun by looking at the trophies.

The more I play the less I feel like it deserved a 10/10. The menus are just clustered together by their placement and craziness. Half the time I don’t even want to read what’s there. The game is super easy and yet it gets frustrating if you want to accomplish the big picture before everything “falls together”. It feels like they're telling you and then not telling to play more before unlocking the ability to finish the loop. I feel like giving this game a 10/10 is being too defensive of its faults. It’s easy to argue that’s it’s not perfect. It’s good, but not perfect. I enjoy playing it, but I also could have skipped it altogether. I kinda like being Corvo and accomplishing a goal than doing the same melee kill by the same John Doe AI. Every single AI looks like they came from We Happy Few or something.

Is it possible you need to change a setting for the mix? I haven’t tried headphones yet on my PS5 but I may have to when I play tonight because the volumes I like can keep the family up

Anyone else notice left thumbstick drift with the dual sense? Never noticed it before. It's super sensitive and i noticed it because my power gauge was going down when cloaked using aether and I wasn't intentionally moving. It's doing my head in.

Side note, the PVP is amazing. Reminds me of spies vs mercs from Splinter Cell. Give it a try and spend some time levelling up. The builds you can make are great as are the costumes you unlock for both Cole and Julianna. Super tense and fun.

Does anyone have sound issues on PS5?.it sounds really tinny, almost like its in mono. This through my beats and also pulse 3d.

Glad you said this. I bought a Pulse a few days ago and was shocked at how bad the audio is, I initially thought the Pulse was a garbage headset [it really isn't all that great, truth be told] but the audio is super weird in this game.

The Pulse was amazing for Returnal, I would say it enhances the experience even. This is hard to play because it sounds so bad. Footsteps are giving me a headache 🤣🤣

It must be a Pulse’s fault. I’m using Sennheiser Game One with 3D audio on and this game sounds amazing with them.

Even returnal sounded cheap in the pulse and that's my game of the year. There's no question that the pulse is low quality, especially compared to similar priced headsets I own.

You don't know how much you need good audio mixing until you don't have it.

It's probably one of the most overlooked things in gaming and gaming reviews specifically. Good sound design can transform a game.

I just use LPCM and have the surround angles all set up and have it set to detect when the headphones are connected so that it switches to those. It works perfectly in all my other games so not fiddling around with it just for this one.

Yeh discussed above, it's shit when using headphones.

Your pulse must be faulty. The sound on that game was astounding through the pulse, Deathloop however is a different story

A few hours in and I'm really enjoying this, I was not expecting it to be laid out the way it is (i honestly thought it was gonna be 1 open world, timed to a day and all open plan)I've not played either Dishonored game and loved Prey, so my Arkane game knowledge isn't as great.

I like the idea of the Infusion system and kinda want Returnal to adopt that a bit and it does a good job of making me feel like I've progressed not matter what objective I've been going for.

So far I have killed 4 of the Visionaries and got Shift (for some reason killing them again didn't give me the slab for them, they've kinda disappeared but I'm not sure if they're supposed to) and building up the stories is kinda cool

Maybe it’s because I’m still quite early in the game but it seems super easy? Do I even need to bother trying to find new powers and weapons?

Yeah you should. The enemies get progressively harder, but if you're good with fps games it still probably won't be that bad

Yeh you absolutely need to. Good luck taking down some of these visionaries without them.

The Pulse headset is fine. It's the game's audio mix that is weird. That being said the Dishonored games also had horrible directional audio when it came to verticality.

I don't remember my audio settings in game, but I play through digital audio out through the TV and it sounds normal outside the aforementioned. If I turn on the system 3D audio for TV it completely messes the game audio up, while it doesn't for other games.

EDIT: Just checked and my Output settings are:

3D Audio Headphones: OFF
Dynamic Range: Standard

Pretty sure system based 3D audio with the game is just broken. Haven't tried the in-game 3D audio.

So yeah the ia is dumb, but they fucking OVERWHELM you at times lol...

I just fucked up 2 loops where i had a shitload of stuff :ROFLMAO:

If you do\watch\find everything in this game we are talking 40+ hours easy.

10-20 hours is really rushing this game.

It's only getting good media reviews because the AI has been dumbed-down a lot in comparison to Dishonored 2. The voice work is amazing and some of the music is good but otherwise a huge step down for me considering Arkane's previous titles.

IA gets better the more you play, right were i'm now they see and hear me almost on dishonored level.

The just have some pathfinding problem sometimes.

I want to finish the game before telling if i like it more or less than dishonored saga.

I just completed with the game and the AI never got any better. I have a feeling it was done because of this looping structure but still.... It's pretty iffy like in some cases they don't even care if you kill their buddies but in others they get alerted from nearly halfway across the map lol

I feel so aimless playing this. Its great and I do enjoy it but its almost TOO convoluted for me. Its all really clever the way it all plays out but it just feels like a bit of a mess that I'm bumbling my way through. Its probably me not paying attention though. I watched Karaks video review and it really hit the nail on the head for me. Great game but I have hardly any idea wtf I'm doing, where the fuck I'm meant to be going either 🤣🤣🤣

Fun fact: Downmixing is actually way more challenging than upmixing in audio. So I guess they made it straight away for surround systems/3D audio. Automated upmixing algorithms using pretty basic principles. Obviously they can't reach level of proper multi channel audio, but they don't sound distracting, but automated downmixes, actually sounds distracting and sometimes even straight up bad.

Problem with it, is that the slight harmonics from separate channels, when combined, creates weird resonance and it sounds like shit. This only applies obviously if someone would do it through software as a automated solution, obviously if humans do that, they can figure it out. But it's still annoying. I learned this back at Warhorse...because some scapes was recorded in stere, some in mono (close distance dialogues) and outdoors and sword fighting was for like a Atmos system.

For perfect mix to work on the all possible systems, it would require a good 3 months or more. But I think it works relatively well.

So maybe it's all that in here.

*downmixing and upmixing in a sense of number of channels. They are different types which you can call "down/up mix" in audio.

Hang on, unless I've missed something, I'm not sure how the infusion system is working

So my understanding is once Infused, you can keep it day to day, so I had 4 Slab powers infused but can only take 2 at a time. So where the fuck has the ones I infused earlier gone? Do I need ot go and get that Slab EVERY time I want to equip it again? Same question for weapons etc

Try to stick with the main “quests” first. The visionaries. Follow the orange markers. When you get a grip on that you’ll start to want to play around with the sandbox levels for secondary objectives. Game takes like 6 hours to fully explain itself but it’s delightful to finally get what they’re offering you.

They’re on your item list. You need to pick them from the loadout. If they’re infused they’re yours.

Heh. Just went in to kill Egor for an aether upgrade. Got invaded. Three way sniper rifle fight across the map. I used a combo of shift and aether to sneak about, and get the drop on both. Came down to Julianna and I trading magnum blasts up close around a truck. I only won because mine hit with poison gas cloud. I fucking love this game.

Nope, I'm missing them completely, same with 2 boss weapons, does swapping them out in the Field matter?
Oh, I think that’s it. You’ll loose them if you leave them in the levels. But not 100% sure. Let’s see what the guys say.

Insane comment incoming: I switched to visual quality mode and can’t come back. I don’t mind the drops. Game looks much more crisp and yummy. Frames only drop during big open spaces. If the digital foundry nuts read this they’ll kill me.

It’s strange because I couldn’t stand the drops on the RT RE8 mode but that’s because the trade off was invisible to me. Here the difference is quite something. I’m a weirdo.

Doesnt matter if you leave them in the field. If they're infused they are part of your loadout
Its both I've found, you lose them for that day, but I just ended a Day and got them all back including the 2 new ones I infused, so now I have 4 out of 8? (One Visionary isn't dropping one for me, Frank I think it is, but that may be a story reason judging by clues)

If you've swapped infused things out in levels to aquire new weapons/slabs then you need to wait until you complete a day (not die) before they become available in your load out again.

For that reason I always keep a weapon slot free before heading into a level so that I don't have to temporarily sacrifice anything.

Do You have sales numbers?

Who give a shit, people here who are playing it are enjoying it. Fuck off and take your trolling elsewhere.
