I don’t think it’s unfair to say Sony first-party never release on original release day. Maybe once in a blue moon.it is part of their strategy. Keeps the momentum going and allows them to dangle carrots and sweep up pre-orders.

Heh, cynical. I know it feels like an effective tactic, but it's kind of a bad way to run a publicly-traded business (although probably Horizon 2 wouldn't make much of a blip on SNE's trading,) so I doubt it works that way.

Also, Horizon already slipped its original release day. It was originally Spring 2021, with GT7 slotted in that Summer date (now 2022) and God of War supposedly a Christmas game (?).

Virtually everything on their original calendar aside from Spidey Miles Morales and Sackboy shifted a season or more later. Most of that is COVID-related, though planning games for brand-new platforms is obviously extremely tricky. So, it wouldn't be a surprise if Horizon slipped again, given Sony already hedged that timeframe when they gave it in the State of Play, but for now it's within the pipeline of where things have landed with the rest of the PS5 schedule.

The writing's on the wall. We have the reveal trailer and one 10-minute demo to show for it since it was announced and yet people really think it's coming out within the next 5 months lol. Wouldn't be surprised if making the game work on PS4 is the main culprit for the eventual delay.

? That's basically the same schedule of appearances Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart was on, and it came out.
Every product which was announced for this year at E3 will be out within 5 months.

It's not like the old days where you needed a year of lead-in to put out a game now. Publishers can go direct to consumers with video and tweets, the digital storefronts are plenty capable of even surprise-launching a game day-of-announcement. Products like Deathloop, where they have to feature it over and over again because the new IP is tough to get to stick, those are kind of the rarity rather than the norm.

It's a fair indicator, that we haven't seen a lot of Horizon it is possibly delayed, but we still hadn't seen much of anything new of Halo until Tuesday yet now it's playing in Technical Test and looking good so far (...well, they need to ship much more than a deathmatch game, but having that test out is comforting if anybody was worried it would slip again.)

NO PAIN TRANCE CONTINUE
Annoying for the die hard fans.

Personally I don't care seeing I don't even have a PS5 yet but having a love for tropical environments as seen in that trailer I'm sure to pick it up at some point, in least to support my fellow country man and woman!🇱🇺

Big oof for everyone anticipating it this fall. Looked far along enough in the SoP, honestly didn't expect a delay.

Outside of Deathloop, exclusive-wise lineup for PS5 seems pretty light. Is Kena still coming out this year?

Real question.

What does the 2021 Holiday lineup look like for PS5 at this point then?

Edit: found a list

So Kena, (since delayed to September), Deathloop (September 14th for now) and Death Stranging DC are the only AA-AAA games coming out between now and the start of Q1 2022?

That's a bold strategy.

Who is the source that confirmed? One outlet, one individual. Two anonymous sources. Will wait till Sony announces this before we celebrate the good news.

So now its confirmed .... :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Like I said in my previous post, Sony is done with releasing first party games for this year. I think Deathloop will be the last exclusive PS5 for the year.

Anyway, 2022 looks so packed right now. I wonder how the release for all these delayed games will play out next year.

So Sony only has Deathloop for the rest of 2021.

Time for Microsoft to go in for the kill, tasty burger right of the PS3 george foreman, hold the tomato.

The only information that i care about is the official one. It's not that i have to prepare myself mentally for something as trivial as postponing a game's release.

Yeah it's pretty light for AA-AAA exclusive content on PS side going into the fall and holiday. Unless there's a surprise game announcement like...maybe Abandoned turns out not to be a massive troll and is the Silent Hill everyone's trying to will it into existence to be?

But that is a very big stretch and very low probability of happening. Also kinda disgusted at yet another GTA 5 re-release, game's getting milked like a dry cow at this point.

No shock. Think a lot of people thought it would slip when there was no date given after the last gameplay show.

Bummer but Sony will still sell every PS5 they can manufacture.

Not sure why this would be a shocked I said this months ago they knew they were way behind schedule
I don't think most people are shocked. To hear it confirmed and to speculate about it are two very different things.

I will still stand by my original statement that COVID has shook the industry more than most people realize.
