They didn’t do anything bad like the launch of the Xbox one, of course they would be better. Of course they could be in a better position if they better planned the launch, but it’s a matter of perspective.
the way I see it, if they botched the launch of the Xbox one and still managed to sell consoles… anything slightly positive compared to that will sell more.
why the fuck is the XSX $450 on Best Buy's website lol. I mean its sold out anyway but its 10% off for whatever reason

I remember early on they said they wanted people to adopt the PS5 faster than the PS4. Which is why it makes sense that they planned this way ahead of launch. Console sales are still extremely important for Sony which is why they are really focused on selling systems.

Niche? Miles Morales might be one of the most mainstream friendly titles ever lol.
You got the Spiderman brand, you got Kid Cudi and Jaden Smith on the soundtrack, a diverse cast of characters, and a black main character with a proper lineup for the first time in gaming history, there's even Adidas product placement with his shoes. Everything about the game screams 'cool' to the general public.
I credit this game and the Travis Scott partnership with a lot of PS5's success.

Yea when you put it into perspective that during a pandemic and having the worst time with chips/component manufacturing but still being able to sell 10 million is no easy feat.

A lot of people were sleeping on launch, too. There was a lot more complaining about power then because a lot of people were upset about the Jaguar-based APU's and the use of APU's in general. The "consoles are laptops now" hyperbole was ridiculous, but I do believe it pushed a lot of people to wait until there was good software that showed what developers could do with the hardware.

Those are shipped to retail numbers too by Microsoft too whilst Sony’s is sold to customers, Sony next quarterly review we will find out the shipped to retail numbers.

Crazy numbers for such a short time really. Of course you have to take into account the pandemic and how hardware has been hard to come by for tech companies but also that people have maybe been happier to spend money on things like consoles due to lengthy restrictions in places.
The number of console sales all round and the fact that the consoles are far more capable of playing modern games with decent performance whilst still looking good makes me feel pretty confident about this generation. I'm not suggesting it will be perfect but I'm pretty damn happy at the moment with what I have to play and what's on the way.
