With the announcement of the Switch OLED, when are we getting a Switch Pro?

Switch OLED announced this year Nintendo is just sitting on that Switch Pro until 2022. I think that makes sense. Insider info seems to be pointing that way.

ALSO This is meant to be a parody thread.

After they milk this one they will update with new specs. But also probably not the best time with all the chip shortages

Be careful with parody threads...some people can't stand others' sense of humour.

I reckon we may still get it holiday 2022 with BOTW2 or March 2023 (6 years after the Switch), gives developers 2 years + to get their games 4k ready...whatever that means.

🤣🤣🤣

I know some mod will come warn me before the day is done.

I don't think there will be a pro. I think they saw how well switch is selling and decided against splitting the user base.
I think there will be a Pro. The Switch OLED is a prototype.

My uncle' cousin works for Nintendo of China and overheard the hardware team's strategy discussions.

We won't.
People need stop pretending that a more powerful Switch is on the way just because Sony and Microsoft did it.

With the Switch flying off the shelves like a product on a San Francisco store, I don't think they're even considering a more powerful version, let alone a new console, any time soon.

I wouldn't bet anything near 2022 at this point. In 2 years? Maybe, but I would not betting on that either.

After nVidia next Tegra chip is launched and the prices get good for Nintendo like happened with Tegra X1.

Before that the chances to have a upgrade is ZERO.

Nintendo after all depends on nVidia.

My dog was murdered by a 3.5mm audio port and I will not rest until the standard is dead
Nintendo fans are already saving their summer lawn mowing and lunch money.

This is it. This is Nintendo’s ceiling. Each year we will get a new Nintendo Switch revision that’s $50 more expensive but has the same SoC and screen resolution.

it ain't happening. if it was gonna happen it'd have happened by now.

you want a more powerful nintendo console then wait for their next gen console. this OLED switch will likely be the last switch we get. at a push maybe an updated Lite model but that's it

Switch 2, their next gen console, will launch in 2023 or 24. No Pro in my opinion.
Yup. Even if they do a Pro now it’ll be short lived. They are riding base Switch hardware for another couple years then we get another Nintendo reboot.

People don't assume this because of Sony or Microsoft. They assume it because the DSi is a thing. And the New 3DS. Nintendo has a history of releasing mid-gen refreshes with slightly more powerful hardware. It makes sense to extend the lifespan of a system like the Switch with a more powerful model, as the hardware becomes a bottleneck for devs. It's not just baseless, wishful thinking.

Personally I'd rather they just skip it this time 'round and get to work on the next-gen system instead.

My estimated date would be 2023 or 2024. The OLED is coming out soon in October and it's way too soon to release another Switch when supplies will be low already.

when nvidia has actual new tech for mobile products like this
Legit, And it needs to be cheap enough for Nintendo to then consider it. Lets not forget about Gen 1 Switch that had the major security flaw that couldn't be patched so they had to make an SOC change.

As long as Nintendo continues to profit from a glorified mobile tablet using obsolete tech, they will continue to do so. Can you blame them?

I believe the Switch Pro doesn’t exist. I think it was based on the fact that someone found out about the OLED screen and created their own story about a Switch Pro. Sadly, this new model could be hurt in sales because people would be expecting something with better specs and not just a better screen. IMO, this is the model that should’ve been released at launch.

I’m actually interested about when Nintendo will release their next console. Most of their generations last 5 years, but the Switch hasn’t shown signs of slowing down.

Will this be their first longer generation?
Will they cut short the Switch’s success to release something new?

Never.

You'll get a Switch 2.
But I wouldn't get one because a Switch 2 Pro is probably going to be right around the corner.
But getting a Switch 2 Pro seems like a waste knowing that the Switch 3 will soon follow
But you don't want to get a Switch 3 and spend the whole gen playing the gimped version of your favorite games so I'd personally wait for a Switch 3 pro.

I don't think there will be a Pro anymore, the Switch 2 I could see launching with BOTW 2 but who knows with Nintendo
