SCARLET NEXUS releasing 25.06.2021

Combat and level-design are actually excellent in Code Vein.
I mean, it has some cool ass anime special moves and i liked what i readed about the possible builds etc., but like i said it was just too floaty and with weak impacts and horrid precanned death animations for the mobs, i get bored very easily when games have this type of flaws in their combat systems.

Excellent seems like a strong word from what i tried\readed online but different taste i guess.

It's 11 euros on steam during these days, i literally re-researched the game in the past 2-3 days because i wanted to give it a second chance, but the more i read\try, the less convinced i get.

(sorry for the english)

i really enjoyed the demo. it was like being an anime jedi or something lol
I try everything that has a telekinesis system, even a fucking golf game, i just love that mechanic too much.

Too bad the enemy don't fly away with some ragdoll when get hit but they just disappear, seeing enemies flying after you hit them with something is half the fun with telekinesis.

You should have read the OT here in Neogaf. There are some posts from me as well.

I literally readed that topic last night before bed...

But i'm a fast reader, so a 4 page topic was not nearly enough...

The fact is that i love hard as fuck souls game, is one of the few genres with a bit of challenge nowadays, so an easier one with a combat that doens't convince me is kinda of a no no.

That would actually cause problem with the combat, because after using Telekinesis you can combo it with your melee attacks, If enemy fly off like ragdoll, it will bring unnecessary frustration.

Yeah i noticed from the videos that the telekinesis is kinda of a combo starter.

But some ragdoll for the trash mobs that you kill in a couple of hits would be nice to see.

I just fucking hate disappearing enemies.

Maybe I’m wrong here but I thought the whole point of Game Pass is try out the game before you buy, Scarlet Nexus literally has a demo, you can try to see the game is for you or not.

Are you guys are not interest to buy any games that comes out? Do you solely rely on GP?
For now i dont plan to purchase anything. GP will sustain me for a few months. But i had no idea there was a demo, will def try it out, thanks.

I don't know or care whats gets "hype" these days, people treated Cyberpunk 2077 as second coming and yet I couldn't care less about it.

I simply played the demo and I liked what I played and thats why I'm excited, but as usual most of the games I hype about no one else in GAF cares because the "graphics" doesn't meet the standard.

Excellent is going too far here for the level design. I find it terrible , and the weakest ever compared to other Souls-like games I've played (Nioh 2 and Starwars Fallen Order) . The Cathedral area left a huge distaste to me . Combat , well um... at best it's just serviceable , my main critic is the lack of hit feedback .

The Cathedral has the best level-design of the game, with the area that re-uses the assets (but indoors) and the underground sanctuary zone before the final boss. These are great areas.

Other regions were more straightforward, which doesn't make them bad.

Combat and builds were really good, offering a ton of possibilities.

The Cathedral levels (outdoor and indoor) drove me crazy and that’s what made them great, they really forced you to think your way through and find landmarks.

The rest of the level design was actually quite boring by comparison (even though I enjoyed Code Vein overall).

so that one video shows a Ronin like attire. does this mean there is different outfits or is this just something that is part of that particular level? that outfit looks bad ass though.

I enjoyed Code Vein. I read a lot of disappointing stuff when the demo released a while back. Is it going to be as fun as Code Vein? They’re pushing the anime, but I’m more interested in the game. It sorta takes me to that place with Sword Art Online. There are a handful of entries into the series on PS4, but there’s not a lot of confidence in that the game delivers.

Just beat the demo. Will wait for reviews embargo to lift tomorrow at 1PM EST. If it's 80+ I'm buying on the PS5. I like playing more as Kasane than Yuito. Just beat the demo playing both characters today.

??? So you solely depend on meta score? You played the demo, did you liked what you played or not?

In my opinion it’s mistake buy a game solely on score, even does scores high, there is no guarantee you gonna like the game and vice versa.

Probably from people who weren't interested to begin with. Demo showed a good potential in my opinion.

I agree. It made my decision to get it day 1.

I agree with you. And this is the problem these days. People should figure it out if it's for them and not based on scores. Especially if they had a hands on demo.

You can even watch a couple of youtube videos to see if you have played games like that and see if it's worth your time.

No, not solely. That's why I played the demo too.

Gameplay can be good but if the game isn't well reviewed there must be a reason for that so that's why I'm waiting to see.

Yes, if you actually read the review instead of just looking at meta score, maybe the issues they have with the game might be none issue for you and vice versa. There are lots of games scored 10/10 a cross the board but I didn’t enjoy them and there are games like NieR and God Hand scored poorly but it became one of my favourite games.

Usually if the game scores well, I enjoy them as I find my taste align with most metacritic / opencritic scores and yes I do read and watch the reviews, not just look at the score.

Your choice I guess, I played enough games to know if gonna enjoy the game or not by just looking at the gameplay footage and playing the demo.

Right. Even with a game like Code Vein. Namco had a game that had discussions about its ties to a Souls game. I also don’t know a person who plays SAO. I have met those who enjoyed the show, but were clueless about the games. I’m glad that I see this type of response. I really enjoyed Astral Chain.

My friend literally uses MC/OC to determine if he plays a game that's 50/50 for him. Reason being is that he's like 90% exactly the same as MC/OC so if a game scores an 88 for example, for him it will end up being a 90 nine games out of ten. It's weird but it does work for some people. The only games that he rated higher than MC/OC was The Evil Within 1 & 2 and Rage 2. I have talked to him about this but he always refers to the accuracy percentage for him as to why he goes based on MC/OC because for him, it weirdly works for him. SMH.

As for me, since GameFly gave me $1 for one month offer, I have this game on my Q and hoping I can get it shipped out to me by Saturday. Thought about playing the demo but if I end up liking the opening few hours, I can keep playing but if I don't, I can send it right back. Thought about buying it but im not even remotely close to being a fan of anime games and my interest in Japanese games is minimal at best.

The 13 minute overview trailer that was part of the Xbox Showcase Extended show last week is what made me interested in the game and since I have had that offer from GameFly since earlier this month and is only valid until June 30th, I figured why not try it out? The only negative was when you fight enemies in a shadow realm or something like that. Didn't like that at all but from what I know, it's supposed to be optional so if that's the case, I simply won't do that.

Everyone has different tastes, if I went of metascores (other people's opinions) I would've missed out on some of my fave games ever XD
