Nintendo Direct reportedly had the most viewers of E3 2021

Well Nintendo are on top at the moment, it makes sense.
I would love to know how they work this out though when there were a billion streams all over the web for these conferences.

And people still want to pretend as if the Microsoft conference was anything special. A million CGI trailers and a handful of gameplay demonstrations.
There were like 2 cgi trailers. 'In Engine', and 'Alpha game footage' etc isnt cgi.
Anyway please dont start console warring in here. Nintendo are the kings at the moment, why wouldnt they be on 'top'?

I wouldn't be too surprised to see that the rumoured Switch Pro brought in people who wouldn't have bothered usually.
They did have a couple of projects that I was interested in though although I didn;t watch the live thing, I watched trailers later on.

Both are good, but maybe because the Xbox one is 90 mins long vs 40 mins Direct people just want to get straight to their anticipated trailers.

It's weird, and maybe I just don't get it, but Games like Metroid and Cruis'n looked awful. I was surprised and especially disappointed with Cruis'n but what is the general consensus on these two reveals?

Metroid looks cheap, I'm sorry. Bland and uninspired 3d artstyle with barely any personality. Nintendo has the money and talent to make it look way better, especially since it is a full price game.

I'm getting tired of the hyperbolic but I'll say it again, good gameplay helps filling out the rough edges. Don't bother contemplating though when everything is awful.

I missed the Cruis'n bit. Is the game not a port of that arcade game that came out 2 or 3 years ago?, because that game looked pretty sweet.

I got my SMTV and BotW 2 news, I’m happy what I got, better than most other conference in my opinion.

I can understand that, but what a severe lack of surprises and fun. And all the filler garbage with old Multiplatform ports.

Some ideas:
-a new virtual Console
-new Mario Kart
-BotW 2 release date
-better Zelda celebration for Switch other than a $60 port of their least liked game
-revival of an old franchise (F-Zero, WaveRace, 1080, etc)
-earthbound collection

We already knew the new Zelda would be there. 2022? Whenever they announce a release date this far out for a Zelda, you can be at least 90% sure it will be delayed. Hard to be hyped for that

None of the E3s this year were anything crazy hype and exciting but compare to others and based my taste in games, Nintendo by far was the most exciting one.

You got me on that one. I really wasn’t crazy with what I saw of Metroid in terms of art style. Looked ugly compared to the beautiful metroidvanias we’ve gotten recently (Hollow Knight, Ori). Wish they went with 2D.

Hope I’m wrong but I’m guessing it will be $60.

As for advance wars, I may check it out.

In Engine, Alpha, CGI....doesn't matter. They barely showed any gameplay. That is the point.

I think it's because everyone literally wanted them to save E3. So they turned in to witness it.

It's all subjective, but I think Nintendo's was still really good. But I loved Microsoft's the most personally because there were SO many games and hardly any talking. Just nonstop games, and a lot of them.

Everytime this comes up I get reminded that Metroid hardly sales anything. Like 1-2 Million at best.
Nintendo generally doesn't fund costly projects if outcome is unclear.

Personally, Metroid 4 that is still in the works should be the AA one.

Nintendo are currently number one by a long shot and i assume a lot of people tuned in to see the switch pro and breath of the wild 2, beyonetta and Metroid prime. There’s a ton of reasons to watch Nintendo’s directs …they just don’t seem to be showing the stuff fans like myself want to see.

it was still a very much solid show and I’ll be picking up quite a few games.

Where is the wow factor? People wantes WOW factor, right?
Average conference. Zelda looked like a DLC, barely any visual difference. Just can't get excited for 720p looking games. Looks worse than craig graphics lol.
Metroid by a western dev Mercury studio which are not that great of a studio. We will see how it goes lol.

As far as Viewership goes then Nintendo is older and more popular brand world and it connects to gamers of all ages, so higher viewership.

Guys ... Everyone with a switch has as much a chance of watching it as anyone with an Xbox has of watching Xbox. Just think about it. It's got fuck all to do with how much people like Xbox, it's just numbers.

Personally, I watch Nintendo because they're a steady hand at the wheel, they can be relied upon to produce fun games. It's simple as that.

I remember seeing a lot of viewers when I was watching at one point. I was pretty surprised.

I hope that means a lot of eyes were on Metroid Dread.

That game's success is very important.

Pretty good show with lots of announcements for games coming in less than 6 months, plus some nice surprises. Really lacking in new IP, so I hope we see more of that in future Directs.
