Yep the Game looks insane, omg the scale and details, the geometry, holy crap Insomniac rules ;)
I can't wait for this one.

Gonna enjoy this for what it is and marvel at the graphics but I wanna see this kinda stuff in a game I'd find more enjoyable.

Maybe I'll just watch my wife play lol
Yeah I’ve only played the 2016 one but I didn’t exactly love it - this looks better though gameplay wise. Also a big discrepancy between the two I’m noticing is animation quality

I just see stuff like the giant set-piece in the previews and can't help but kind of groan... it's clear some of the grander aspects of this game are nearly completely on rails, and I just don't really enjoy that stuff much.

But we'll see.. maybe it's more interactive than it appears, but I doubt it.

The basic gameplay shown other than that is just lock-on targeting shoot-dodging and that just isn't incredibly fun to me.

Guys, it's not just graphics, it's mentioned in some previews that streaming advantage had let them use up all the RAM and that meant having many different types of enemies all at once on-screen, and not just enemies bu also looking at previews the number of weapons has also increased A LOT... This is the expected next-gen stuff, the stuff that affects gameplay and mechanics more than just the graphics. Insomniac has been a real boon in PS studio roster, I'm glad Sony hreavily invested in them.

No thanks. Let them keep browsing gamepass for games they don’t want to play.
Seriously now more than any time in my life I have more time at home and this thing is real. Like I browse Netflix to watch stuff and spend more time browsing than actually watching especially since I've seen a big portion of the library already, AND NOW it's literally the same with GP; I played many games and tried even more but the games feel less impactful now that I don't purposefully choose the game I'd like after a lot of research and looking at reviews etc. it doesn't also help the games are like carbon copies of each other for the most part with only some missed gems and rare blockbusters I've not bought, it was rare in the beginning and now it never happens and I decided not to renew GP come november.

Well, that's disappointing, you'll not see this on a "pixar movie".
Now that we can see closer I'm noticing that the models are still full of clipping issues. Wish games could solve the problem already.

I know people here are shitting all over you but I get your point.

Clipping is always bugging me in games. I wish they could once and for all prevent this from happening regulary.
I remeber many clipping issues in Cyberpunk and it bothered me all the time.
This shit has been bugging me for probably over 20 years now. Time to end this shit.

Anyways. R&C looks insanly good. I need to play it.
Can't wait to see what Guerilla Games and Santa Monica Studios are going to deliver :messenger_dizzy:

As someone who already has a vast library of game on pc and console i feel ya. Which is why I don't use Gamepass.
I already have a hard time deciding what game to play and not enough time for any of them anymore.
Which is what I suspected would happen to some people.

But you can say that about any game really. Most games only allow you the interaction they are designed to allow. To level set, what kind of game do you enjoy?
Also, Ratchet PS4 didn't require you to lock-on target; which was the last Ratchet you played? (You can even trigger a RE4 like view for shooting in it - the shooting mechanic I feel is pretty flexible and there are so many different gun types to play with.)

I like lots of games, and I'm not trying to be negative towards those that enjoy things like "set pieces", but to me they from a game standpoint are about as fun as watching a cut scene, which.. I generally don't bother with... it's "cool" from a technical perspective, but it's just an experience I don't enjoy. I hated the "QTE" trend as well of the PS3 / early PS4 era. For those portions, you have almost no interactivity typically.. it's not like you are actually doing something cool by way of controlling the character, it's just cool stuff happening around and to you as you push a few buttons. It's a waste of resources from a game creation standpoint, from the standpoint of my taste.

My favorite games are things like RPGs, or strategy games. I enjoy something being difficult and having many strategies to employ.. even if I "beat" an area I often re-load saves to try something different.. I like games with multiple character classes, or ways of going about a given game.

Not meant as an insult to anyone; it's just a taste thing.. I didn't mean to imply that Ratchet has no aiming, but you watch the previews and it seems entirely possible to just button mash with powerful weapons while dodging projectiles..

FWIW: I have never played a Ratchet game lol.. literally just going off of preview videos and what I've heard from people who have played them. But i've played a ton of games with big set pieces and they are my least favorite portions, while they are the ones that tend to get raved about.

For instance I actually like the shooting in Uncharted games.. I enjoy some of the areas where you are presented with enemies and different pieces of cover you can use, a combo of guns / grenades / etc.. but the games also have a ton of "set piece" portions that take away from the game for me, not adding to them.

Yeah you'll never see clipping in Pixar movies.

:pie_thinking:

Edit: BTW if that's what is standing out to you amidst everything we are seeing about this game ... you might want to think about that.

He should complain about the Avenger's movie first:

I didn't see it at first but wow that is bad lol.

Anyway, just watched some of those previews, this game looks absolutely bonkers. I'm all over it. I don't see how you can be a "gamer" (boy I hate that term) and not be excited for this, at the very least for the progress it represents? It's by far the "best looking" overall game I've ever seen anywhere. How is that not exciting for the medium?

And just as I predicted all of the "Pixar" and "animated film" comparisons are coming out, and it's no accident. Insomniac was apparently shooting for that goal based on what some of these previews say. Including hiring someone who worked on CG films to work on this game.

Bring it on. :)
