I recommend watching the video yourself, but here is a summary
mrappbrain on reddit:
1. His knowledge of the project was very limited, his experience shouldn't be taken as reflective of the larger project and people shouldn't judge the game based on it.
2. He was really happy at 343, he left on good terms, the only reason he left was because he wanted to work on other games besides Halo.
3. On "don't expect the game to be an epoch making masterpiece" - This was a general comment on how games these days are hyped up massively and form unrealistic expectations. He fully expects the game to be fun and is looking forward to play it. If anything he is excited that Halo is finally growing into a semi-open world game.
4. On the engine - He was misrepresented as saying that the engine was broken. That's not what he was saying at all. He was just saying that there were still improvements to be made. This happens all the time, and can even be said of engines like unreal. He does say in the earlier video that the Halo engine is improving significantly every day, which wasn't taken up by the press.
5. He is very upset at being misrepresented about the crunch - he clarifies that there wasn't a constant crunch. People just want to do the best they can and often spend more time than is necessary working on a project.
6. Further clarifies that he wasn't ever forced to crunch, press makes it seem like he's saying that 343 has a crunch culture, this is NOT TRUE. He even gets days off.
7. In fact, what was misconstrued as crunch was actually a positive. He was trying to convey that people were passionate about the project and worked hard on it.
8. Says he's angry that his video, which was meant to be positive and encourage people to join the games industry, somehow turned into a hit piece on Halo and 343. Urges the press to be more responsible with their journalism and Halo fans to not take what he said and interpret it as Halo/343 being bad.
