there's no CGI, that's in-engine cutscenes.Yes, the game play looks the same, but the CGI in this is (of course) much better looking.
You took the bait.there's no CGI, that's in-engine cutscenes.
This post only manage to make me even more mad that jimbo decided to make horizon and most probably gow sequels crossgen...Yes folks Ratchet & Clank looks amazing as expected with Insomniac at the helm. Pretty much every Ratchet game has looked amazing for it's respective generation. However, most folks are missing the real takeaway here. If this game is one of the first to look truly "next gen" it's not primarily because of the advancement in graphics but rather the advancement in CPUs (FINALLY)!
Many folks are lauding the visuals because of how dense the environments look which is really an advancement indeed over what we've seen in both the PS3 and PS4 generations. Let's remember folks, we have been embarrassingly stagnant on the CPU side of things since the arrival of the Xbox360/PS3 back in 2006. The Jaguar CPU in the PS4 has less than half of the raw throughput than the Cell processor in the PS3 (and roughly the same as the X360 CPU) !! I've written and discussed this in different forums at length but the PS4 generation was one of the (if not the) smallest advancements in a generation ever, particularly when it comes to the CPU items like world simulation, AI, physics, weather, animation, density etc. This is actually very ironic for the Sony side especially as Ken Kutaragi always primarily invested and emphasized the CPU advancement for each PS generation (PS1=32-bit RISC => PS2 = "Emotion Engine" => PS3 = "Cell Processor").
There are numerous examples of games/franchises that literally remained dormant during the PS4 era (relegated to remasters of older entries) or had top be scaled back during the generation with generally the same scope and gameplay mechanics as the previous generation. There is a reason that Rockstar did not release a new GTA game in the PS4 era (GTAV enhanced only) or that Insomniac didn't release a new Ratchet entry for PS4 (remastered old version). And we saw what happened when games tried to push the envelope in terms of interactivity and simulation: Watch Dogs, AC: Unity, Just Cause 3 to name a few (ran like crap and severely scaled backed in sequels). The jump from GTA III to GTA IV or from Ratchet PS2 to Ratchet FTOD on PS3 seemed like a a very distant memory for most of the past decade.
The real improvement this gen (aside from the SSDs) is having a modern, powerful, highly threaded CPU that is finally a meaningful advancement over what we saw in the PS3 generation. Again, we saw levels of AI, animation, and destructibility in PS3 era games like Motorstorm, Far Cry 2, Killzone 2, and Battlefield 3 that we have literally not seen since (scaled back in sequels). THAT's where the true advancements will be seen and while graphics will improve the difference won't be dramatic even at it's best for this gen. It's the combination of a advanced CPU and ultra fast SSD that will finally deliver gaming experiences we haven't had before. Of course, DualSense, Ray Tracing, and 3D audio are just icing on an already tasty cake
Does this game have MTX?
No, Raretanium is just a regular item easily found by playing the game to upgrade your weapons.
Does this game have MTX?
The goons are already here, calling it not representative of gameplay and misleading, lol. Here, 7 months ago if you were under a rock:
Does this game have MTX?
Ratchet was patched after it was given away for free (and I wouldn't be surprised if Sony didn't bother telling Insomniac about that in advance), so as they got close to gold master, Insomniac got around to patching the PS4 game before their new PS5 games ships. Its possible Horizon Zero Dawn is getting a full Spider-man style remastered PS5 version that'll come out alongside Forbidden West, or it might just get patched closer to when the new game ships as they find the time, idk.its shocking how GG spent months fixing the PC version and yet couldnt patch in a 60 fps mode on the PS5 even though they literally just gave it for free.
As for TLOU2, thats purely a business decision. They are going to launch TLOU Factions for $70 and they need to justify the pricetag by including something that wasnt available on the previous versions. it sucks but thats the only explanation.
I'll see if I can point out as best I can:Am I wrong?? I saw like two parts where you are on rails, whether that is a vehicle section or just straight up, non-ironically grinding on an actual rail. I also saw like half a second of shooty-bits.
I mean, unless the whole thing was gameplay and my eyes should be melting out of my sockets, that isn't how you showcase gameplay.
Which is probably smart, because the gameplay in these games are the worst part. It's the charming world, characters, and graphics that make them fun, I suppose.
Edit: Also a State of play with a gameplay demo for this Thursday. Maybe a mod can edit the title?
That stage looks like the location on that anthem first super fake trailer but this time the visual fidelity is probably gonna be real.Shots that stood out to me!
Obviously compressed 4K-shots from YT!
Those sweet-looking particles!
Let's not forget that's old footage and will look better by completion.
These goons are the same ones spreading FUD about Jim Ryan and PlayStation direction.
what jim ryan have to do anything with this game? did he bought Insomniac? No. did he greenlighted it? No. is he pushing AAA marketing? No.Jim Ryan fails again.....when will they fire this guy?
Wow! CGI of Clank is the best looking game I've ever seen.

The old ones didn’t had any. You upgrade your weapons with Raritanium which you collect by exploring.
No, Raretanium is just a regular item easily found by playing the game to upgrade your weapons.
I’d say 90% chance no. Raritanium has been an in game collectible for a while that you use to upgrade some things or buy mods and stuff. I think one of the digital deluxe editions for an earlier one did this too.
R34 & E621 can rest easy now.Can't wait.
And it's Rivets!
You're right that those parts are all in there...for about half a second each. It's anything but a trailer focused on gameplay, let's keep it real. If you label something "gameplay trailer", it should have more gameplay than cinematics. Not budging on that one.I'll see if I can point out as best I can:
the walking
the shooting
the grappling hook type swinging
the warping
the part I posted above at the :43 mark in the video.
Its a lil more than the on rails parts and the shooty bits. And I'm basing this off playing the PS4 game.
Its a mix, exactly what it says in the disclaimer at the bottom of the screen.
If you dont like the gameplay in the RnC games, thats one thing. But there is more gameplay segments in the trailer than the vehicles and on rails parts.
But hey, they have a State of Play for the game this week. Just check that out, might be some stuff in there too.
don't want to kill the hype but "Mix of gameplay and cinematic footage, caputred on ps5" could mean that some cutscenes are not realtime
Cant notice much of a difference except in the facial expression? It looks good, but what happened to the female lombax, they made her look uglier in this new trailer (Unless it's just and expression facial thing that make her weird)
Okay, didn't know if I had missed anything like that slipping in.
Sony studios no longer use pre-rendered cutscenes, and have not done so since the PS3 days.I believe RnC games never had any pre-render cutscenes. At least the ones I’ve played.
Wow! CGI of Clank is the best looking game I've ever seen.
Now I juat gotta find somewhere selling this for under 65 squid! Haha
Wow! CGI of Clank is the best looking game I've ever seen.
