"Gameplay Trailer" - 90% cinematics, with only 10% actual gameplay (much of which is just the character walking)

Still, it looks like it could be a decent game (from the tiny snippets of gameplay revealed so far, anyway). Hopefully it'll live up to the hype and we'll see the famed PS5 SSD I/O system put to good use in the warping mechanic.

Unfortunately that's how it is these days. Look at the Horizon trailer. People still believe it's mostly gameplay. Game companies are afraid to show the real deal, since they know they'll get picked apart by fanboys. Look what happened with Halo: Infinite as an example.

R&C looks impressive, but calling this a gameplay trailer is stretching it, to put it mildly.

90/10?

Well, if you couldn't correctly distinguish b/w cinematics and gameplay footage, then Insomniac has done its job and then some :)

It's pretty safe to assume that most of the scenes where the characters are having a dialogue (i.e. the majority of the trailer) are cinematics. I know Sony first party likes the whole walking and talking mechanic, but even they don't take it this far, especially for a mascot platformer (I enjoyed the Uncharted and most recent GoW games, so no hate, it's just a standout feature of Sony's more realistic first party games).

I suppose they covered themselves for the misleading video name with this small print though:

Why not just simply call it a "Trailer" instead? Surely we can all agree that a "Gameplay Trailer" should mostly consist of, you know, actual gameplay.

Difference is we have already seen the real deal with Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and it looked just as good.

Demons Souls at 60 FPS felt very next gen to me.
That did too but there's something truly magical about the dimensional warping that Rift Apart offers.

Demon's Souls Remake could be done on a PS4 just with massively downgraded graphics, HDD loading times and 25-30 fps. Rift Apart could not be done at all on a PS4, the entire systems of the game rely on the SSD.

If anyone has played the PS4 game, its easy to tell whats gameplay and whats cutscenes.

Precisely. Cutscenes always look better because they use hero assets and better lighting, but because they are realtime the gulf in visual quality between cutscene and gameplay is far less pronounced than it used to be in the PS3 era where devs like ND would pre-render all their cutscenes on five PS3 ducktaped together. With the limitations of the bluray disk space, they were forced to switch to realtime cutscenes and while they can still render better visuals in realtime cutscenes, the gameplay visuals are fairly close.

Yes, the game play looks the same, but the CGI in this is (of course) much better looking.
I get that, but we are getting near the point where it's getting harder to differentiate the two, of course the CGI will always be a higher quality, but the gameplay isn't far off at all, and then when you start bringing into it the warping mechanics and jawdropping setpieces?

This is shaping up to be an excellent game indeed.

Misleading, but has exactly whats in the trailer...and you posted it.

?

Saying strictly one or the other would be misleading.

Its still a trailer regardless, and ppl would still be trying to guess whats gameplay and whats not....

Of course the goon squad are ready to "temper expectations" and be concerned as to why the trailer is labeled a certain way....

Oh, absolutely. It'll be a monster hit, no doubt. I don't think the gameplay is for me, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better looking game out there.

This looks amazing, I probably should play the remaster/remake before I play this, got no excuse I bought it at launch and it was free recently.
the remake has some new levels that look absolutely insane. Far better than the ones they remade. I played it on the Pro on a 1080p tv and the downsampled version looked CG. The 4k version still looked great, but man there was something magical about the clean downsampled image on my 1080p tv.
