I definitely scalped the first 2 or so if I remember. Nephew got one as a gift, friend got one as a gift, kept one. So I both made some money from Playstation 5s, and I also bought some as Christmas gifts.

Did I need to scalp anything? No, I make very good money, but nothing wrong with more money while still getting what I want.

does he know who is doing the MGS remakes? bluepoint makes sense.

Before that he could designate a few millions to get all PS4 first party exclusives updated for PS5. Nothing fancy, 60fps patches would suffice.
Yep. Listing them all here since Jim seems to be listening (hey you never know)
  • Horizon
  • Uncharted 4, Uncharted TLL
  • The Last Guardian (officially)
  • Bloodborne
  • SOTC's cinematic mode
  • The Last of Us part 2 (if i have to buy this new SKU with factions and the remake just to get 60 fps.....)
  • Mother fucking driveclub

Horizon ZD - possible they patch it around the Horizon Forbidden West launch, like how Ratchet just got a patch.
(also possible that they just sell a remaster like Spider-Man)

Uncharted 4 + Lost Legacy - doubtful (maybe if the do a new collection of all 5 games for PS5.)
Last Guardian - not happening
Bloodborne - paid remaster for PS5 PC seems inevitable eventually
Shadow - doubtful
The Last of Us Part 2 - most likely will be a paid remaster

Oh wow. The creative director/writer of Uncharted Lost Legacy who left ND to do the campaign for Avengers is now back at Naughty Dog.

I really liked Lost Legacy and was kinda pissed that ND let him go after he produced a gem, so this is great news. Lets hope he gets to direct his own game.

Imagine working on Uncharted and The Last of Us and then making Avengers... lol. Bet he missed the good old days.

And yeah Lost Legacy is a great game.

An insider, with a good track record, I'm curious if he left... To much heat. 🤔
It hard to say something from inside PlayStation when everybody in the community thinks only Xbox have plans lol
If you think we have console warriors then you should avoid Ree at all cost.
They evolved the term console warrior.

Well, Avengers was probably the biggest IP at the time he was hired. And Crystal Dynamics was coming off of the strong Rise of Tomb Raider so everyone thought that it was going to be a success. I dont think anyone couldve foreseen that it would be a disaster. Maybe he knew that the game was going to be a bizarre coop GaaS game, but i never thought Crystal Dynamics with all their SP experience wouldve taken Avengers in that direction.

Havent you heard? Sony is complacent and Jim ryan is killing playstation on purpose. Despite record sales from ps5 so far, Japanese developers from Konami to Square enix are tripping over themselves to get in xbox good graces by selling thier IPs and their companies to them. Xbox insiders said bethesda was going to make MGS 6 while Kojima productions, who will be acquired by, Microsft will supervise.

He worked on the campaign which was pretty solid. Now performance and other things? Not his area.

Ain’t a lie was told

I remember this at every launch going back to PSP when it was ejecting UMDs lol.

Anytime a million or so people get something on the same day, you will see it trend. Every piece of consumer electronic typically has a 3-5% failure rate which is around 30-50k if they sold 1 million units, and lets face it twitter savvy users who are the most vocal tend to be day one buyers.

I would be so fucking pissed if days gone and death stranding would get a follow up before bloodborne does...
TBH, From has their hands full with Elden Rings and they have basically aged out. They will probably never do a console exclusive not based on their own IP.

What Sony couldve done was tasked Japan Studios to make it since they had some experience working on Bloodborne. Or have Bluepoint take a crack at it. I was convinced that Bluepoint had earned the right to make their own game and Demon Souls 2 wouldve been that game.

From has at least 2 different teams internally (if not 3). Afaik they are working on Elden Ring, some mech game and ???

They already did Demon's Souls and BB, so i'm not sure why they wouldn't do another exclusive. They will do it if Sony publishes it and pays good money for it :)

Good start as i said in the other thread, now Sony need to go buy or finance some japaneses games with like Platinium and Koji Prod, and also stop porting games on PC.

BTW it still blow my mind that they released Horizon on PC before even patching the game for PS5, Hermen Hulst this guy is such a clown, that's how he thanks playstation fans that bought Horizon and the Forzen Wilds Day one. What a disrespecful clown.

Jason was wrong about Days Gone 2 so that is probably wrong too
That would be great news if so.

I am actually glad MS went out and bought zenimax because these cheap looking games shouldnt even associated with playstation 5 exclusives. Sony has built this great reputation of gorgeous looking blockbusters over the last couple of gens with even their B studios putting out beautiful titles like Days Gone and Concrete Genie. I take one look at death loop and ghostwire tokyo and im like is this some euro trash game for last gen consoles?

If anything I hope MS goes out and buys more of these third party publishers because then sony wont be able to waste millions of dollars buying third party games that wouldve come out on ps anyway. i really dislike this idea of buying third party exclusives just to keep them off of other platforms a la Rise of Tomb Raider.

id rather they spend those millions funding the next big game from independent studios like KojiPro, Platinum Games, bluepoint, and Ready At Dawn. I cant believe they allowed RAD to get bought out by facebook. such a talented studio. one bad game and discarded.
Absolutely this.

I think they have become too big to do these games for other publishers. They are now on par with the biggest AAA studios out there. Elden Ring will be their coming out party. A Skyrim or Witcher 3 caliber blockbuster. They will work on their own new IPs going forward IMO.

In regards to Days Gone 2, Alex just brought up a pretty good point. Why port Days Gone to PC if you are killing the franchise?

The latest DF Direct is actually pretty good. All three bring up some good points regarding Days Gone. John liked it more than other open world games due to its survival aspect (i.e., bike/gas mechanics) and Richard brought up how pretty much every new Sony IP takes a long time to make. Yes, Days Gone took 7 years but Horizon took 6 years to make too. He also brought up KZ2. I think Bend did a pretty good job with the 100 devs they had. Give them 300 devs like GG and ND, and they would put out a sequel in half the time.

Yeah, so much for those rumors and wishes for some magical clock boost, eh? I thought it had something to do with audio and obviously it does. No need for a clock boost anyway and any boost they could pull off would not net enough performance as a result. Besides, I still believe the memory configuration is a performance bottle neck and that would reduce the effectiveness of a clock boost as well.

Who was talking about a boost clock? I thought that was a feature of the PS5. I thought people were asking to find out what was running in quick resume and better quality streaming and pictures. The big selling point I've saw about the XSX|S was it's stable clocks and guaranteed performance profile.

Well people (most people) do like the single player campaign. It's the shit around it, they don't.

Sony Bends job hires states they’ve been actively working on an open world title since 2019. Jason said they were working on a non-open world game (TLOU remaster) since 2019 and only just moved onto something new in the last few weeks.

2019

2020

2021

And of course Jeff Ross also confirmed it was still in development up to the point he left in 2020.

No, some people were posting that the waveform graphics might mean that the clocks would be increased on the hardware (mostly on Twitter though so.... :) ). Not likely. I do think the features that it turned out to be are far more handy for Xbox gamers. It's a good solid mix of new features, for sure.

From the Capcom hack thread.

This is pre Jim Ryan btw. He took over in April 2019.

Yes... dodgy, illegal internet hackers are considered reliable character witnesses.

Not to mention the hilarious (un)likelihood of a group of internal Capcom folks sitting around in a meeting room discussing this and having it recorded in the meeting minutes... lol

Details like this are not recorded on any official communications that could be potentially subpoena'd and handed over in a lawsuit. If you've ever worked for a large multi-national corporation, you've probably spent hours of your precious time being bored out of your mind going through training courses that discuss this kinda stuff at length.

Well said. Then again, it's video games. Its the wild west of shitty corporate culture, HR and Legal departments that seem to not know anything and people on stage publicly gabbing about it with a giant "EXCLUSIVE" graphic on the stream.

Jim Ryan Redemption Arc Begins:

PS3 and Vita store closing reversed by the man himself!

Days Gone 2 and Death Stranding 2 next. Let's go Jim!

Just logging onto the Internet for the day...

I'm assuming that keeping the PS3/PSP/PSVita stores open, orphaned on their own devices... Would have no effect on the rumor/hope that Sony are working on a "PSNow 2.0", which essentially solves their BC problem?

I would hardly say it "solves" the problem if you have to pay again for the games you already own.

Well I'm assuming the scenario would be that Sony just flood PSNow 2.0 with PS1/2/3 games, and hopefully allow downloading for all the games rather than streaming only.

It took them years and years to do username changes, and the PS4/5 PStore is a totally different store, to my understanding. So I'm not expecting to be able to re-buy PS1,2,3 games on PS4/PS5'S PStore, or have it recognise my old purchases.
