Nah, FF7 was on PS first and 14 never went to Nintendo.that they stole to nintendo
FF7 wouldn't have worked on an N64 cartridge at the time.

So this would automatically exclude Tencent too, which is good. Not in Japan it's not. The Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act in Japan highly restricts acquisitions of Japanese companies by foreign entities.
Sony and some other companies have shares in Kadokawa, the reason they do not have to buy them is because they will be so dependent on Sony to distribute their Anime worldwide..
Square is about 70% gaming and the rest is anime, manga, arcade and film. A big part of gaming is mobile too....
They also have over 5000 staff to manage.
It would be several times more complicated than Zenimax and add a language and cultural difference....... it would be a total shitshow for msft.
Lol man console warriors will say the dumbest shit to justify their brand smhAnd PC or maybe even Nintendo. Microsoft buying SQE is a win for gamers.
Lol I love message board financial gurusThese leaks are generally done by the corporate advisors for the target in the acquisition to drive up the price during an active bidding war. In all likelihood there is an acquisition in the works.
Believe it or not, they’re the best option for gamers (no exclusivity BS), and I literally don’t understand the FUD surrounding Tencent when western games like League of Legends is prospering under themAnyone but Tencent.
you mean acquiring who WANT TO BE PURCHASED thus preventing market leader Sony from using (as it has always done and continues to do) its market position to disadvantage rival consoles by obtaining exclusives with moneyhat? (i.e. Deathloop, ghostwire, the rumor about starfieled and again ffVIIR, ffXVI and only God knows what else)If Microsoft buys them it would be a fucking joke. Cannot stand what Phil is doing to the industry now. I fail to believe Square would sell out to a company like Microsoft though, and there's no way Sony would allow that to happen after the Zenimax deal.

For what it’s worth jez said he doesn’t think ms will purchase SE and he’s one of the more reliable Xbox insiders. So who knows what he’s knows.
With that said I’d like to point out that after the Bethesda acquisition we’ve seen multiple Xbox partner studios decide to remain independent or take offers from other huge corporations in the form of investments. If Xbox aligned studios are unwilling to gobbled up by them why would sqaure, whose basically ignored Xbox for almost 5 years decide to be owned by them? Like let’s say Microsoft offered 12 billion and Sony 10 billion. Wouldn’t it make sense as a business to stick with your actual fan base instead of a couple extra billion in such a scenario? I have no idea but I hope sqaure remains independent.
It actually makes the most sense for Sony since film and manga is also involved with the purchase, and we all know how hard Sony have been recently going after Manga.Makes no sense for Sony, they've put all their eggs into the " money Hatting exclusive 30 minute demo's" basket.
Exactly.FF7 wouldn't have worked on an N64 cartridge at the time.
Jimbo would probably install his western buddies as various heads in SE too
Square would be another 10 billion or possibly higher, they trade between 7 and 8 billion but there is usually a 30% premium or more. Can Microsoft as a whole aquire even more than the... 20 billion for Nuance and 7.5 billion for Bethesda and talks of buying discord for 10+ billion as well. That would be 40billion on top of whatever it would take to get square. Have to figure square would be at least equal to or more than Bethesda no?
If Microsoft buys, future games will all be on PC and possibly Nintendo.
If Sony buys, Square Enix will only play a support role since Sony isn’t interested in making Japanese games like they used to.
If Nintendo buys, everyone wins.
There wouldn’t even be many big ones left after this purchase.Well thanks Microsoft for setting the new trend of buying 3rd party studios... if Sony buys the studio, Xbox fans can’t complain because the studio “ asked for it” right?
yeah it’s so easy to say “meltdowns” but if this becomes a trend we might end up losing more and more 3rd party studios!
but who cares? Console wars for the win
MS can’t buy Sega or Konami! Because of the Japanese law.So this would automatically
exclude Tencent too, which is good.
Maybe, just maybe Sega buys SquareEnix and then MS buys Sega.
This would be a big brain move
That's what Sony want you to believe.Final fantasy is kinda Sony’s trademark (FF7 exclusive, FF14 MMO etc.)
“Daddy chill”MS is the best place imo.
yeah it is kinda sad! Like I wrote 4 weeks ago, what is now stopping google or Amazon to do the same and get into the gaming more easily ?There wouldn’t even be many big ones left after this purchase.
Capcom and Take-Two would be about all that remains.
what i know, japan has law that restrict their big firm/company from being acquired by foreigner and last year their MOF even tighten their rules.
Japan tightens rules on foreign stakes in 518 firms, citing national security
Japan announced on Friday a list of its firms subject to tighter foreign ownership rules, including majors such as Toyota Motor Corp <7203.T> and Sony Corp <6758.T>, as the United States and Europe step up scrutiny of industries key to national security.www.reuters.com
here is the list of those company that under these law.
square enix indeed in the list.
i do not know much about stuff like this, hopefully anyone who knowledgeble can correct me or explain more about this.
What? It's not like they outright forbid foreign firms to invest. It's just that the firms have to go through a pre-screening procedure. Nothing is off the table. It will be Sony then. Tencent or MS is out of the picture.
.Guaranteed meltdowns, just not the way people think.
The real reason Ryan closed Japan studio?
A company from the US is going to be treated differently than a company from China, its all geopolitics. It will be Sony then. Tencent or MS is out of the picture.
Acts as if Sony haven’t been putting any games on pc...I hope noboby buys them, but if someone does please Microsoft, because of Pc.

Square enix has a lot of IPs that are going to become movies guess who company has a movie branch? What's left of Japan Studio might be integrated to Square Enix.
But I wonder if Square Enix will be worth it for Sony though. Aren't they in other business too outside videogames?
