GTA 6 leak will be modern times

Last one was modern. Are they going to do another scathing takedown of the tech industry? They just had LifeInvader in the last game.

Please do another era. Modern times are shit.

I really wonder how they will move from GTA V to VI.

Currently GTA V players can run any type of illegal business, carry out heists, hang out in lair’s, pilot flying fortresses, fly jet powered bikes, cruise on yaughts, on top off 1001 other things to do....

From a players POV, going from V to VI could be a huge boner killer

It should definitely be in modern times. Set in central or south america or mediterranean would be sweet. But actually, it wouldn’t matter. Try something different.

Maybe they don't want too much change and prefer to preservate all those aspects for Gta online's sake.

70s era would have been awesome. Sideburns and bell bottoms.

Heard the ending involves the male's story converging with the female's then the female will break the forth wall as the male protagonist dies in her arms to say, "There. No more pain,".

Modern setting should come as no surprise to anyone. They may add the rumored 70s/80s South America section for stories sake (like Driver Parallel Lines) but with how big of a success GTA: Online is, they'd never in a million years go with a full retro style GTA. They wouldn't be able to keep adding the newest cars and guns and charging huge GTA bucks for them. They need to sell Shark Cards somehow.

I hope they can evolve their outdated mission design and improve their shallow gameplay. Oh..and please dont go full stereotypes on story and characters.

Preferably in a time period when there werent cell phones. That way we don't get random calls from the characters cousin wanting to go bowling, character receiving text messages or emails, taking selfies, etc. I.E. pretty all the things that ruined this era.

It would be disappointing, but I guess they wouldn't want to skip on all of the features related to using smartphones, Internet, social media etc. Plus by setting the game in modern times you can mock or address modern events and trends.

i've said it a million times, they should've went with Amerika 50yrs in the future, christ the possibilities are endless and we could've ended up with a proper open world cyberpunk type game except this time done right.. but no we gotta go through same tired ass tropes and satirical look at the US which tbh the reality is far worse than anything R* could lampoon at this point... no doubt it'll be fucking brilliant mind but i would've loved to see their take on a future where Trump became the eternal president

I said it in another thread, but I always thought GTA should‘ve changed countries/regions between games, similar to Assassins Creed. There‘s only so much they can do with American coastal cities, especially if they plan to stick with the modern era. A GTA that takes place in totally different cities like Tokyo, or Moscow, or Rio could offer much more environmental variety. Imagine a GTA in South America for example; there could be huge favelas at the edge of the city, something that would be out of place in an American setting.

Gta 3, vice City and San Andrews were 80's and 90's era.

When they returned to liberty city with 4 it was modern day. Return to SA with gta v modern day and I fully expect the trend to continue with a return to modern day vice City with gta vi. Modern day provides so many more possibilities. You can still have cool stuff from the 80's and modern stuff.

GTA is the quarter pounder with cheese of open world gaming... so predictable and sterile.

But kids born in 2013 would be around 9 or 10 when GTA VI releases so the tired mission design from 2002 will be a novelty to them. Also the """"""""clever"""""" satire.
Totally agree. When a new GTA comes out it always is technically impressive and ahead of the rest of the production, but the games in themselves have become utterly sterile imho, especially GTA V

Unless of course I've completely misunderstood the thread's title. In which case, meh.

I don’t think it matters what the setting is.

Will be interesting to see how this turns out in general though. GTA 5 was massive and they’ve lost key people behind the series. They already ignored campaign expansions for easier and insane out of place shit for Online. Corporate suits will want to keep the game from offending people and maintain the GTA Online cash cow.
