GTA 6 leak will be modern times

Tom Henderson is supposedly a valid leaker, also said that GTA 6 will feature 1 male and 1 female protagonist

Supposedly? So what's the track record of this Tom guy? GTA 6 "leaks" and rumors are a dime a dozen.

Modern is such a vague descriptor. Anyone can get away with making a prediction like that.

I would be interested by the hIppie/vietnam era. Colorful street , drugs, protestant, music, Vietnam war going on etc..

there would be some very interesting setting to be had , crazy characters and stories.
Yes, Mafia 3 was good at it but beside that the game was repetitive and boring.

Its time to revisit something else.
No, ty. R☆ isn't gonna throw away current gen car models and being modern let's them to produce infinite amount of vehicles from the past/modern day. Look at RDR2 online. It's absolutely tiny compared to GTA O because people don't care about horses or golden revolvers.

Great news if true. GTA is about parodying Americana and with the current political climate there's plenty to parody. Plus I don't want to be stuck in an era of vehicles, if things are set in modern time then you can still have all the classic vehicles plus all the modern ones. When more than a decade goes by between releases you can't really say it takes place in the same time period. Things are very different from 10 years ago, like VERY different.

It should be set in Naples and borrow heavily from the Gomorrah and Zero Zero Zero show storylines. It spans the world with a focus in Europe and there’s human and drug trafficking as well as turf wars. Perfect setting

The hallmark focus of GTA is it satirising american culture. Whether or not that's a dated concept. I can't imagine them ever doing such a european focused setting. If anything it would probably risk damaging sales.

No surprise, even tho i wouldn't mind a return to 80's era, as Vice City is my favorite GTA game.

That being said, i hope Rockstar are working on a pirate era game.

Oof if this is modern I will skip completely. I need a good era with a good soundtrack. Half the time you play GTA is driving a car listening to music and modern music sucks. If I have to hear "WAP" in the next GTA then it's a hard pass.

If it's GTA6 it'll be modern. All numbered entries since the 3D era began have been set in the same year as the release date. Subtitled entries (Vice City, San Andreas, etc) are period pieces. Setting "GTA6" in the 1980's would be breaking away from the established structure.
No it wouldnt. And again for folks who want more modern crap you will get GTA5 again for the new Consoles with graphical updates.

There is seriously no need for another modern GTA

Ugh and there we have one example why games get so stale and online focused...

And because of people like you they will sell you GTA5 again.
They tried to make RDR2 Online something nobody wanted.

And you know you can still do funky stuff with a 80s themed GTA. *cough* back to the future *cough*

Was hoping for another vice City 80s era.

That said it seems rockstar have moved more to an online focused game (because that's whats making them the most money) instead of a single player experience. I doubt they will focus too much on mission design from here on out...not that it was great before.

I've really enjoyed the series overall but for me personally I think the series is getting worse.

Speaking of Rockstar and GTA, where is the promised next-gen enhanced GTA V? Let me guess, coming around November-December?

Yeah. But you could still do it. America and an American character or characters would still be involved. It’s still going to be a hub for the illegal activities. Either importing or exporting. Like zero zero zero. You don’t need to be set in the U.S in a modern game to do that especially since they’ll implement an in game social media function if it takes place in present times
