Monster Hunter Rise |OT| A Whole New World

Rise is such a good polished game! I was a little worried that I was burned out on the Monster Hunter loop after 1500 hrs of World , but here I am playing every chance I get and loving it!

Overall I'm impressed with the QoL changes, overall art and faster pace. Good to see CAPCOM keeping their streak alive!

Made it to 6 Star Village and so far Almudron has been the most annoying to fight. He takes up so much of the screen and is long so I constantly get hit.

Also the thing where monsters will limp away and suddenly go mach 1 speed is both hilarious and dumb.

Thanks!

I actually liked Dragon's Dogma so maybe I would like this too. I will see what's going on with the demo and check it out.

Pick Dual Blades as your first weapon since it has the most Dragon's Dogma feeling. This way you can transition easily from DD to Monster Hunter.

Each weapon has a very, very different handling so if you don't like one, try another. I remember to this day how surprised I was about weapon gameplay differences when I played MH for the first time. It is almost another game.

Just beat Magnamalo. He was more challenging than the rest before him for sure, but still not that bad. Much easier than in the demo for obvious reasons. I love the new flinch/knocked out of move animations for the new monsters. It's super satisfying to knock them out of stuff, and the after effects of breaking parts are actually noticeable this time around. I feel like after shattering Magna's tail, his little fire orbs got smaller and significantly easier to dodge. I've only fought him that once so far though, so maybe that's just a phase thing.

Now the game can finally start. I'm gonna need another evade extender armor set soon, this Wroggi set is showing its age a bit on the 5* monsters.

Just made it into High Rank. The last Rampage quest (the first one with an Apex) was a bit annoying. Great Izuchi can 3 shot me with the current defense of 143.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
So do you guys think the jump from Low Rank to High Rank is noticeable? I'm still in LR and the difficulty is quite low honestly.

Still having one hell of a time. Fighting those monsters is pure bliss.

Yes the gap there is quite noticeable. Both in monster health and damage. That being said, early High Rank is always a big gap because your armor is lacking. It was even more so for me since I hadn't used any other set than the starting one.

High Rank Almudron is going to slap the shit out of me. Fighting him with a Hammer is ridiculous.

Anyone who has speed blitzed it, what's the end game mission? How many stars does the games quest go up to? Just playing with some people who may not commit long term so I wanna try and finish it before they bounce.

Barioth in Iceborne was probably the biggest jump in difficulty until endgame, yet in Rise it's a frozen pussycat? I feel like it retains most of its moveset, but it feels kinda slow and even when it lands on top of me, it can't hit me. Adjusted hitboxes? That was kinda disappointing.

Made it to HR in multiplayer with my buddy. Tried clearing up some of the side quests too. The game really shines in MP. Since we beat Magnamalo I feel like I can take him solo in the village quest now.

The more I play the more I believe this is my favorite MH game.

In-game timer says 26 hours played. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Already on 7th char. Game lacks content...

I think this might easily come close to being the best game in the series. I'm enjoying it so much. The mobility improvements, the buddies, the palamute is GOAT idea for these games. Kinda wish they'd put some new weapon types in but I can't really think of any to suggest so can't say much there.
Even the rampage missions are a lot of fun. I hope the switch pro rumours etc are true and this game gets visual improvements on it, 'cause it fuckin deserves them. Would love to see this playing at either 60 fps or a decent, modern resolution in docked mode.

New weapon ideas:

Chemist, trap specialist, bomb specialist, beastmaster, Monk (hand 2 hand), whip

Why would they lock away the ability to see further down the weapon tree until you get at least 1 of the required materials - this is my biggest gripe right now (unless I'm missing something which is totally possible)
I'd want this ability so I can plan what to hunt material-wise for the next level upgrade of a weapon.

I had an idea for a new weapon during these days.

A switch weapon like the swaxe or the others, basically a par of claws when in base mode for close melee range and cut type damage, meanwhile in the advanced mode the claws retract and you have these 2 hard punching gloves attached to wires to be used at medium range like the nemean cestus from gow3 with impact damage

With some mechanic where using the claws charge the gloves or viceversa.

Claw-puncher is the non-definitive name.

The best Monster Hunter to date.
Seriously.
Love the exploration, the characters and character creation... the battles are satisfying, I can't stress that enough!!! They just feel good.

They really pulled the best outta World and so many ideas in other entries and really crafted a wonderful experience that I actually enjoy playing solo. The first in the series I enjoy playing alone, wow. The multiplayer is so much easier now, and with all your buddies ripping around on Palamutes in hot pursuit of your target is a rush. Wire bugging everywhere like spider-man ninjas is not only fun but has its perks too when you discover little mining outcrops or other resource pockets.

If you're curious or worried about Monster Hunters typical learning curve, don't fret. By far this is probably the most seamless, well thought out and well crafted game yet so no matter if you're new or a vet, I'm positive you'll enjoy it.

My anecdotal evidence at home is my fiancé wasn't a gamer before she met me. Her only game of choice before MHR was Animal Crossing NH, but she is really enjoying this so far.

Yea, and I had like 500 coins, so I paid roughly 16 bucks. Still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I cannot believe Nintendo charges at all for their awful online infrastructure and services.
What is the price of one month?!

Thanks! Ordered it online so I think the delivery is tomorrow. This week sometime anyway.
