Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Looking to Add All of Ubisoft+ Services

Then they're short sighted because GPU easily makes up for the cost, esp with EA now finally added, adding UBI games would make it an absolute no-brainer, esp if you have an xbox as well.

Steam has an extremely active community and rich ecosystem. And simple fact is a lot of people would rather own their games. I don't think that is "short-sighted". It is simply a matter of preference.

So XBOX, which is preinstalled effectively with EVERY Windows machine isn't an active or rich ecosystem? Not sure I buy that.

Sure people like to buy their own games, which GPU gives you a significant discount on. Personally I buy a lot of software and GPU is a no-brainer, you get instant access to a ton of games that you might not have looked at before but because the cost of entry is so low that you try them (and often buy them).

Regardless, it will come with time, I remember when steam launched and everyone was "fuck steam, I want to own my software, in my hands".. oh how times have changed.

Unfortunately i cant see this also being on PC Gamepss, as Ubisoft+ is already more expensive than PC Gamepass as it is. Not unless they plan to raise the price of PC Gamepass.

There's always that possibility that Ubisoft creates a separate tier for GP, something more like base EA play. Where the games do come eventually, but it takes a year to get the new ones. I can't see them going day and date on GP, would be a monumental get if they did. But still massive even if you have to wait a year.

This would be a bomb, that's for sure.

I'm not so sure this is as unlikely as some think... If they do it though, it's almost unfair :messenger_tears_of_joy: I'm on a cheap GamePass deal at the moment, but there's no way I'm not subscribing when that runs out. If they add Ubisoft+ and keep the quality up I'd happily pay more to be honest... Not played this much since I was a kid tbh. And the variety, oh the variety.

Octopath Traveller later today. Almost bought that on Switch so many times...

I can see it happen simply because I cannot believe people would pay the asked amount for Uplay or Uplay+, to me it has to be a big flop currently.

There are simply not enough games for it to compete with GP or even EA play so if you can’t beat them, why not join them and get a smaller piece of a bigger pie?

No, the Xbox app on Windows simply pales in comparison to Steam. It isn't even close. You've got a rich review system, community hub, dedicated forums for games with developers support, embedded game broadcasts, user-submitted guides and frankly, there is a lot of loyalty to Steam.

Sure....times could change but Microsoft has committed 100% to Steam going forward for a reason. Steam is the king of PC gaming.

I personally like their games and have considered subbing, but dat price.

I don't see MS getting a $14.99 service into GamePass.. that makes.. no sense.
Rainbow 6 Siege seems like solid quality but I am big into it. Not a fan of Valhalla and Fenyx Rising after many hours

If they add UBIsoft to Ultimate as is, this is another log on the fire........Sony may actually need to react in some way.

Win win.

UBI (like EA) will dump a bunch of games on the service nobody buys anymore. They get some MS partnership money and also mtx money. What does UBI care? Most of their games (esp Ass Creed) have been PS+ or Games with Gold freebies for years already.

MS gets a cut of mtx money and it strengthens the service to attract gamers.

And just like NF adding more movies and shows every week gamers get more games to choose.

I like Fenyx Rising myself.. I play Division/Division 2 here or there.. and loved Ghost Recon Wildlands.

I just don't have time to play that many games so all of these sub services are not really my style TBH (even though like everyone else I have years of GPU saved up from that $1 deal lol)

Don’t you get day one access to Gold/Ultimate editions of Ubi games on day one with +? Maybe I am wrong there but I remember it costs the same price as GPU, $15 a month. Seems like too insane a value.

Yes, and all current and future DLC. I agree, unless the Game Pass version of Ubi + is some kind of stripped down version I don't see how this would work witht he current pricing structures of both services.

Who knows, if MS can convince them that you make more money inside GP than outside, maybe. So far that's what they are saying. At some point theres gonna be too many games for that role be true tho I'd think.

(pssst.....we've heard this before)
i mean, i understand all the positions and all the rest ... i understand the possibility of having the console who some acclaimed goty for a gen etc etc. But in all honesty a service which gives you

Xbox first party exclusives
second party exclusives
Bethesda
EA play
Ubisoft+
third parties games (some launch day)
for 15$

By lifting the hypocritical veil of brand preferences for a moment, would you be able to tell me that there would be effective competition at the moment?

"At the moment" half of that list is meaningless. Maybe one day all that, Ubisoft included, will translate into Xbox domination. Hell if I know. But I'm not kidding when I say the kind of proclamations you are making have been made time and time again. Nothing new at all.

oh no no I'm not proclaiming anything about successfull games just to be clear ... i was talking generalizing about market offers. gamepass with Ubisoft + would definitely make the rest a only objectively disadvantageous proposition to accept, then certainly there will be those who prefer a console also for the existence of a single exclusive but this is not the norm nor is it a convenient proposition (and with this I do not want to belittle who would make this choice everyone spends the money as they want)
Never before in any generation had there been a gamepass equivalent. So I don't understand what you mean by talking about the past

Game Pass launched almost four years ago. This isn't new. Before that it was Project Scorpio. Before that it was 360 BC. All these were supposed to be "game over" according to some so that is what I'm referring to as the past proclamations. I'll just add yours to that list. I mean....it's fine and really easy to say things like that, but again, it isn't anything anyone hasn't heard before. Along the way, Sony responded with simply superior games. When Microsoft starts matching Sony on that front then I'll maybe start believing the prophets.

netflix of gaming boys. gonna be something...
It's only a matter of time until one of the big tech companies seeks to challenge Microsoft in this space, but that's a very tall order. You need the infrastructure, and although Amazon and Google are the second biggest contenders, they have zero goodwill from a consumer base that is absolutely fickle and loyal to already-existing brands. Sony is the only one who has the goodwill, but they do not have the infrastructure. They'd need to partner with either Amazon or Google, and that's a death sentence. Maybe Epic Games could assemble some kind of coalition. Until then, $MSFT is a long-term hold for me. :D

Holy shit if this pans out. I don't think I would unsub if so. My plan is to subscribe to either GP or Ubi+ while I play the recent games on PC then switch subs or go no sub while I play a console game or games Sony/Nintendo. I.e. being as frugal as possible with games to slightly counteract my overspending on hardware.
