And it took them around 6 months (since September 21st announcement) to notice that?

Come on guys... really?
they couldn't do it by LAW. and there would also have been no reason if social media and consequently the outlets following social media would not have tried to spin off the acquisition with as if nothing had happened. Xbox bought Bethesda to make them First party exactly as naughty dog are for Sony, not to develop PlayStation games. and it was ridiculous to hear and read it every day by Sony fanboys.

believe me at the moment xbox will do everything to release exusive. period.
I really hope they do honestly.

What i don't like are vague statements like those Spencer made today which make desperte fanboys to spin their meaning. Just be clear about something or don't say anything.

Here is the compilation of takes.

Bonus:

Dayam that's a lotta stupid fanboys, even my ma would be able to figure that one out and these people are gamers... To tell the truth I'm pissed as hell I'm gonna be missing out on Starfield and ES6 on my eventual PS5, so if either of those games turn out to be the second coming of Christ I can see me picking up a series S or X just to play em

Haha, they probably would have never said anything specific until the whole thing was finalized anyway. On the outside, next to zero, chance that it somehow caused a problem with the deal getting regulatory approval.

They cleared everything up. All future Bethesda games will be Xbox/PC exclusives. Legacy games like ESO and FO76 will continue to be supported on all platforms and existing contracts (Deathloop, Ghostwire, potentially Indiana Jones) will be honored.

Agreed. The only thing they said about future games on other platforms was that Bethesda may do other contracts. I would imagine that would be referring to them publishing a game for someone else (where a sticking point for the dev is a multi-plat release) or making a licensed game where the license holder wants the same.

No they did not.
They only said things we already knew (like keeping the contracts of games like Death loop and Ghostwire) while also keeping games like ESO and F76 multiplatform.

"Legacy" though can mean games that have a history on other platforms like Playstation with Fallout (Fallout 3 & 4), TES (Oblivion and Skyrim) and many others. And he refered to "legacy games" separately from the previous two categories (contracts and online games).

It was a vague statement and i'm honestly tired to play Spencer's riddle games every time he talks.

Man... some posters are really going for the gold in mental gymnastics. No matter how much you deny/bargain this ship has sailed. How about you accept that you will need an Xbox or PC or phone with GPU to play these games. Phil said that the literal reason for this purchase was to gain exclusives for Xbox.

I'm going to miss completing the entire PlayStation trophy list for ES6, to go along with Fallout 3, New Vegas and Skyrim in my collection. It's a small but annoying part of this whole deal (yes there are achievement systems on PC but it's just not the same thing).

Otherwise I think I can move on to PC if I get the need for ES6. Looking on the bright side, controller support will be excellent! (don't like M/KB for gaming and controller support can be a little spotty depending on the game).

The struggle in this thread borders on crazy. Peeps need to accept the reality.

trust me is better you give up.about this topic . If you really believe that the Microsoft First Party will end up on PlayStation ..... you have not understood anything of what spencer meant.

I agree with DaGwaphics DaGwaphics . It could have given them a boost in XSX sales. That said, it will likely take a while until we start having the exclusives. I will eventually (just like I did last gen) buy all 3 next gen consoles anyway.

But hey... to the "Sony fanboys" out there... Sega games were exclusive in the past as well.

Gonna be a weird generation.

We've had crazy shit announced by both MS and Sony, so now it's all up to Nintendo: what bombs are they going to drop?

...Mario coming to Stadia!

Yes, he didn't clarify anything.
If ES6 and Starfield are on PS5 ( and they 100% are) then that's the whole Bethesda lineup for the upcoming 10 years. 🤣

Previously Phil twisted himself into a pretzel trying to disguise how exclusive Tomb Raider really was, so no surprises about the double speak, but I think this is as clear as it gets for now....

Phil Spencer: There's contractual obligations that we're going to see through as we always do in every one of these instances. We have games that exist on other platforms, and we're going to go support those games on the platforms they're on. There's communities of players. We love those communities and we'll continue to invest in them. And even in the future, there might be things that have either contractual things or legacy on different platforms that we'll go do.

Summary, all IP’s like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, etc. will be 3rd party. New ip that has never seen the light of day will be case by case.

i was serious the law prevents participants from speaking on behalf of the acquisition before it is closed. It's illegal.

If that’s how you read it then that’s how you read it but legacy to me means the older games that are already out

There are 2 different sentences addressing released games and future games. Seriously??

Yes. There are two different ones and they address different things.

You have TESO and Fallout 76, which are established multiplatform MMOs.

The "legacy" comment refers to already released games, meaning that MS will continue to support those regardless of the platforms. So if Bethesda wants to do Skyrim Super Special Edition, that would be multi-platform. Or if they were to do a Dishonored 2 expansion; that would go where the game currently is. That also includes any patches those legacy games need.
