God of war most likely delayed to 2022

Could be 2021, 2022, 2023 maybe remaster the first one if I’m SONY Kratos and God of War are my best option at winning the generation.

leads to fear. Fear leads to xbox.
You're either incredibly naive or incredibly stupid if you ever thought this game was coming out this year.
With the delays incoming there would also be no proper fit for it this year. Rachet was probably delayed internally to not push out until June, Horizon is being given extra time for a launch later this year making no place for God of War as well. I say take all the time they need to not rush it,

Ok.

It was never put in 2021 btw.

So we are creating artificial delays now?

It was, they showed a "2021" at the end of the reveal trailer. But nobody should have believed that.

It's got nothing to do with delays, it was never going to make this year regardless. They wouldn't release all those high profile titles back to back and then have nothing for 2022, they'll stagger releases as they need to. Horizon was always gonna be the big game for the back end of 2021.

This game was always 2022 or beyond. When you announce a game in 2020 and only have a logo to show for it, that's a telltale sign that your estimated release date is a tad bit generous. Bodes well because a 2021 game would have just been the PS4 game with a new layer of paint.

I wasn't expecting it to come out this year at all, which I think is the best seat to take. If it does, cool, color me surprised. But I'd rather not set iffy expectations.

It’s still going to be just that, though - a PS4 game with a new layer of paint. it’s being designed to run on hardware that was already outdated in 2013, those horrible Jaguar CPUs ain’t helping either. it’s the same with Horizon FW. Sad that we won’t get a proper PS5 version for either of these franchises for a long time.

You mean the trailer that had a release year.

A year is not a release date. It was merely a release window that was pretty obvious the game was never going to make.
Sony used 2021 at the end of the trailer, thus meaning the game would be published this year. If this is not going to happen, Sony messed up with release date.
For me it is pretty obvious.

Well you may be right but lets keep in mind for now it is PS5 only. It has not been confirmed to be cross gen.

It will. I've been saying it since the announcement, there's no way that this game is released on 2021, and there's no way this game isn't crossgen. A proper PS5 exclusive would release late 2022 at the earliest, more likely late 2023

Hm. Well wouldn't the delay then make it more likely to not be cross gen? I'd hope Sony doesn't expect me to drop $500 plus tax just to play as a wombat in rift apart and uhhh Returnal?

#SonyToo
the only way it would of came out this year is if it was done like Spiderman MM and not a full title like the original, better to delay and release a full standalone game

The longer it gets delayed the greater the chance it’s a next gen only game.
It doesn't work that way, if the game was born as a crossgen it's too late to make the game fully nextgen again.
The scope, how ambitious it is, how much ssd and new cpu are utilized, etc, sony is not gonna waste money to re-do an entire project from scratch imo.

Fucking jimbo is all on board with this crossgen bullshit, lower your hope dude.

I always felt like Ragnarok and Forbidden West seemed ambitious for a 2021 launch window. If we get even one of those two this year, I will be pleasantly surprised.
