Makes me wonder if stacking is present in the PS5... Die shot will tell all.

Just a point, stacking =/= chiplets.

We can be 100% sure the PS5 includes no chip stacking or chiplet-based design. It would be unnecessary and antithetical to the performance of the PS5 CPU and GPU.

Chiplets benefit humongous GPUs, GPUs much bigger than the reticule limits of current semiconductor manufacturing processes. As well as larger GPUs on more and more prohibitively expensive process nodes. In light of AMDs current focus on increasing GPU clocks, I think we can be confident chiplet-based GPUs are going to be even farther off in the future before they start to appear a viable path for increasing GPU performance.

Chip stacking is even further afield for ASICs. The cooling issue still hasn’t been solved.

Yes I doubt PS5 has any stacking/chiplet design yet, but more like chiplet-ready for PS5 Pro. But stacking can pack too much heat, so I think they'll used dual-sided motherboard like they did now and have 2 dies one on each side with 2 heatsinks instead of one this time.

Xbox series x is a lot better on this game

Clean sweep for Series X. Looks better and higher resolution too. Look at the scenes with foliage. The PS5 foliage barely moves. Moves more even on S.

PS5 resolution mode is only 1440p, which is the same Series S! And in Performance mode tanks to 1080p which is the lowest res in the entire video. Even S is higher.

Its running the game as a ps4 pro in BC mode, so whatever floats your boat.

Your desperation for a win is finally achieved with games running Ps4 settings. Well done.

We are happy to announce that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint will be playable on the next generation of consoles. With our next-gen backwards compatibility, players will also be able to enjoy an enhanced Ghost Recon Breakpoint experience!

That's BS because a lot of these old games running on PS5 BC do get some kinds of boosts. It's not a 100% duplication. So boosts beyond Pro's settings are doable on PS5. That's why you get some games with 2x the fps and faster load times.

So just do what Series X does and boost up res, visuals, fps and load times. PS5 even has a faster SSD.

Needs to be done on the dev side. PS and XB BC are different animals.

Sure, at the same time, having a lot of PS5 games not behaving better on BC than its PS4 Pro versions kind of gives a hint that a lot of them actually run just like, well, its PS4 Pro versions. Look, I'm not saying that's a good thing, it's not and it clearly means that improving performance on PS5 over PS4 Pro games needs more work from the developer than on Series X, and this game clearly looks better on Series X, it's just that extrapolating from that any kind of statements like "Series X is better", like some folks around here love to do (and it's the same the other way around, sure) is way off. We've all seen PS5 versions of cross-gen games vs Series X versions of cross-gen games, we all know that the difference is ridiculously small, and we all know that both sides have their wins.

And hell, on a very particular level, it's not like I'm gonna be thrilled that a game like Ghost Recon Breakpoint plays better on one console or the other, or should we be willing to play a shitty game just because it gives a "win" to our console of choice?

Just trying to wrap my head around some logic being thrown around in here, that's all, don't take it too seriously.

I don't think old gen ports should be used as basis to compare next gen consoles but, having said that, the PS4 Pro game does not have the performance/quality toggle so the PS5 is clearly not running the PS4 pro version of the game

Edit: I was wrong, the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X versions of the game did have the fps/quality toggle. Nothing to read here

No, The Ubisoft web site ways its running ps4 BC version of the game. They added a toggle it appears....

Ps5 is capped at ps4 settings. Who cares ?

Yep, there will be excuses but when you switch on your game on the two consoles one wil be substantially superior and that's all that really matters, reasons why are irrelevant. Just better.

Agreed,

Although when you switch on a next gen title, based on recent comparisons, one will be substantially superior than the other.

So swings and roundabouts.

Let's compare other BC games, then, why not. For instance Dark souls 3:

- XSX: 900p locked 30fps
- PS5: 1080p locked 60fps

PS5 pushes 2.88x more pixels than XSX in this game. Do you think it can tell us something meaningful about the hardware of those consoles?

Riky Riky is desperate for a XSX win, even if their are software limits on allot of old games

He likes to trigger everybodys posts that says anything positive about ps5, every just laughs at him, just ignore .

After all this time you still have to come to terms that they are 2 different machines that have two different approaches. And in the end it doesn't matter: they are BC games, old news. Lovely to play but I don't care or expect more than how they were originally injtended to be played. The FPS unlockis nice, but the rest is simply useless to the experience.

I care that the new games can really squeeze the juice out of the new machines, and from what Insomniac has shown us thus far, it looks like we are in for quite a lovely ride!

I didn't say it did, in that case I'd rather play the PS version because it's better, in Breakpoints case I'd rather play the Series S version over PS5 because it's better. The reasons why are irrelevant when you're playing the game.

No idea what you're talking about, trolling again I see.
No, he is having harmless sport fun. You troll the moment that you state this:

This is the definition of trolling, LOL!
